Great day exploring Volcano National Park. We got to see petroglyphs, hike and play on lava, and even walk through a lava tube!
We had an AMAZING time at University of Hawaii Hilo! We ate fresh lunch, had an admissions tour and talk, and also got to see the marine biology department. Sit in on a methods class that just got back from collecting samples on a boat and hear about their project based curriculum. It was inspiring and felt like a possible home after Aveson.
We had the chance to work on a Kona coffee farm! Everyone at Heavenly Hawaii was so nice and we learned so much as we did vertical selection. Bonus math problem- the coffee pictured is $20/pound (not-roasted) and each bag has 100 pounds. How much money is in their “vault”?
Last night we had a chance to go to a luau and it absolutely blew our minds. So cool and so much culture we had no idea about! Now today we stopped for pizza lunch at an amazing beach on our way to the volcano!
Ok, in order: cocao farm, canoeing through the mangroves, hiking through the rainforest, swimming in Playas, up to the ancient ruins at Ingapirca, and over to the Andes for some hiking. I should’ve just taken pictures of us on busses because that’s where we’ve been spending a good hunk of time ;) This is certainly an adventure. Luckily, we are totally up for it (Paris’s arms are a metaphor for how we embrace adventure). With a smile and open arms! Even if it does involve 20 hours on busses.
