hey i think it’s absolutely bonkers how scott and scooby are basically counting on the public’s hatred and refusal to believe anything taylor says. think about it. taylor detailed everything in her tumblr post, so for scott (and scooter’s wife!) to go right behind her and simply say “well… she WAS offered a chance to keep masters… we don’t know what she’s talking about…” because they know the general public and stan twitter will believe anything they say. anyone else’s word against taylor’s always wins and they were counting on it this time around

i need you guys to understand that the masters as they are currently recorded is ALL scooter owns. he cannot remake a new master without permission from the publisher (taylor and bmi) and he cannot just remix the master either. remixing a master creates a new master recording, and the lyrics are owned and copyrighted by taylor swift. remember how angry everyone was that taylor swift copyrighted “this sick beat”? well, it’s a good thing she did. because she owns the copyrights and publishing. but without the masters, she cannot republish her own work nor does she have sole creative control over who can license her songs.

She can’t republish the exact versions of her debut to rep music BUT she could re-record and rerelease them. This would create new masters that she would then own.

that is true! i apologize if that caused any confusion. what she would be republishing is what’s called a “remastered” version, which creates a new master. you can read about remastering here
