GENERAL INFO
This is an independent roleplaying blog for the characters Gale Dekarios, Sarevok Anchev, Anomen Delryn and other characters of the Baldur’s Gate video game series. This blog is for entertainment purposes only; I am in no way affiliated to Bioware, Larian, the creators of Baldur’s Gate, or any of the actors I use as faceclaims.
NOTE: Except for Gale, obviously, my characters are based in BG 1 and 2. I am open to adapting them to the BG 3 timeline. However:
Particularly the character of Sarevok is VASTLY different in the old games - I do not take the events and story presented in BG 3 into account for his portrayal.
THE WRITER
I am over 30 years of age and I live in Central Europe. I work during the week, which means the activity on this blog will be low. Also this is not my only RP blog.
INTERACTIONS
I will only write with blogs I follow. This includes threads, memes, and anything in between.
If we’re mutuals, feel free to continue a meme in a new thread if you see the situation going somewhere.
I tend to write longer replies (multipara) and I prefer them over one-liners.
I do not write with people under the age of 21. I prefer writing with partners who are over 25, regardless of content. NSFW content is not a priority for me on this blog so there won’t be much of it, but I am not fully opposed to it.
Especially since the old Baldur’s Gate 1 & 2 RP fandom is basically non-existent, I am more than willing to roleplay with any other compatible fandom!
FORMATTING & ICONS
I use minor formatting and sometimes icons, sometimes no icons. I have no problem with RP partners not using any icons/banners. However, I do ask you to cut your posts if we have an on-going thread.
SHIPPING
Please don’t force ships or shame ships.
I ship chemistry above all things, and so do my muses. However, Sarevok is a tough one when it comes to relationships, so if you’re looking for romance and eternal love you are probably going to be disappointed here. Sex is more likely to happen with him than actual love. Also, expect to be dropped or betrayed or murdered when you stand in his way.
While I, as a writer, am happy to write gay ships with Anomen, please note that he will be hesitant towards engaging in a romantic relationship with another man at first, due to his standing and upbringing.
As this has come up before: I will not write threads in which Sarevok r*pes/has r*ped anyone. Don’t request that, the answer is no. If it’s part of your character’s backstory, please leave it out in our threads, I am not making it part of his story in any capacity.
Also ORIN/HELENA and anything about his story in BG3 is not canon for my Sarevok portrayal. Please do not assume it in writing. If you write Orin or Helena, I'm happy to think of ways for us to interact that work for both of us (e.g. a fake Sarevok avatar, major illusion, etc.). But Sarevok has not fathered any children nor is he leading a cult of Bhaal. It's okay to assume Orin's story for Sarevok if you interact with my other (particularly the BG3) muses, but not with Sarevok, please.
WARNINGS
There will be dark and potentially triggering themes on this blog, both in my character’s backstory and in threads. With a character like Sarevok it would be hard to tag everything potentially triggering, but I will tag the most common ones (such as suicide, gore, torture, etc).
To name a few themes that I can see coming up/being mentioned: murder, mass murder, alcoholism, violence, incest (between half-siblings (the bhaalspawn), self-harm, torture, …
Smutty content is tagged as #( not safe for waukeen. )
If you need anything tagged that I am not tagging yet, let me know and I’ll check if I can add it to my list.
Thank you for reading my rules! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask :)
BG3 still trying to make me believe Sarevok is in any way the same character as original game Sarevok. Did anyone in Larian even play the original games?? What the fuck is this??
Excuse me????? "Once dead it's impossible to think of life"? "I was dragged back from the precipice by my mocking sibling"??? "I resented it at first"?????
How the fuck do you get that from this???
He wanted to be resurrected!! He drags himself into the PC's pocket realm to bargain with the person who killed him for his life back, because that's the only chance he has! He has to convince them to give up part of their soul to resurrect him!!! He thanks them multiple times, he's ecstatic to be alive again!! His resurrection only happened because Sarevok was so desperate for it!!!
And claiming the resurrection bolstered his faith in Bhaal?? Faith that Sarevok never actually had to begin with, because his only interest was in stealing Bhaal's power?? Where the FUCK does Throne of Bhaal give that impression???
This is a memoir of Some Guy going, "the brethren often ask me what it was like to die. Well. I will tell you exactly how it went down, because that's a thing I, the real Sarevok Anchev, definitely know. It all went like this, I would imagine. I mean. I know. I know this is how it went. Because I was there. Definitely me. Don't double check with my sibling btw."
I'm sorry but if you're not even going to bother to put in a journal entry explaining the complete characterisation 180 and instead use them to completely contradict the original games then why the hell would I even try to believe this is the same character?
BALDUR'S GATE I & II
Sarevok Anchev
"Why would you not take that which will be offered to you? Power, wealth, rule over lesser men! It is all within your reach! What is the use of power if you do not carve out an empire for yourself?"
Due to vacation reasons I am putting my blogs on hiatus until November 20th. I'll be available on discord (though less regularly than usual) and possibly DMs. You might see some activity or you might not, I will probably be busy most of the time but we'll see :)
spacecore. i'd be genuinely surprised if you didn't have a "i want to believe" poster in your room. you find a weird sense of comfort in knowing how small humanity really is, and despite your somewhat nihilistic beliefs, you think it's more empowering than anything. you're definitely a night owl, and you love to gaze at the sky while having deep, philosophical discussions with a close friend. you don't have much of a dream other than living life at its fullest, and you're already working on that.
tagged by: @avernusfuries <3 tagging: i don't know anybody who hasn't been tagged.. unless?! @immobiliter ?!
"You're perceptive for an old man. You know why I'm here. Hand over your ward and no one will be hurt."
NAME: Sarevok Anchev
RACE: human / Bhaalspawn
CLASS: fighter
ALIGNMENT: chaotic evil (pre-story) | chaotic good (post SoA)
AFFILIATION: none | Gorion's Ward (in the Lord of Murder verse)
GENERAL TAG | HEADCANONS
NOTEWORTHY: My portrayal of Sarevok is true to BG 1 & 2. BG 3 lore is contradicting and undoing integral parts of his original story and character and will be disregarded entirely. Helena/Orin do not exist in my portrayal, at least not as relatives of Sarevok.
VERSES
Lord of Murder: Gorion's Ward has taken the throne of their father and become the new lord (lady) of murder. Due to Sarevok only being alive because she (I default to a female ward but I'm happy to switch!) shared part of her soul with him, he is now bound to her until eternity. [BG3 compatible]
More verses to be added.
RELATIONSHIPS
To be added.
ROMANCEABLE: yes (m/f, no gnomes, halflings or dwarves), but if you want your muse to not hate it, you need to unlock ally level 15, friendship level 35 and romance level 483 first, so good luck.
Noteworthy: Unless you directly go against the Shadow Thieves it takes quite a lot to turn Gaelan against you. He's near impossible to rile up or provoke, he lets all sorts of actions and comments fly and he's always seemingly on top of his game. He's loyal to the Shadow Thieves and Aran Linvail but he has all kinds of connections and friends all over Athkatla (or Baldur's Gate). In short: he's a great ally to have and with the right amount of coin he's not hard to acquire as such. He's fun, easy-going and willing to help (for a good trade). That said, if you find yourself his enemy/try to kill him you will regret it. He is quite literally invincible in the game (for gameplay reasons) but I like to copy that over into RP for story reasons that can be unlocked at friendship level 50 or with very good ability rolls :)
VERSES
Canon Verse: Set during the events of Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn.
Baldur's Gate 3 verse: I'll relocate the Shadow Thieves to Baldur's Gate for the sake of this verse. The structure of them more or less remains the same. They're a big player in the competing guilds of the city and if you're not with them you should at least make sure you're not against them. Word in the street is, if you want to get in contact with the Shadow Thieves: seek out Gaelan Bayle - or rather, proclaim your interest and see if he'll come find you.
RELATIONSHIPS
To be added.
ROMANCEABLE: default aka BG2 verse no; Gaelan is happily taken. However in a BG3 verse I could be persuaded since his lover will never be RPed anyway 😅 Restrictions: m, humanoid, and for story reasons he has a strong aversion against vampires but never say never.
"I have not sunk so low as to ally myself with you."
NAME: Anomen Delryn
RACE: human
CLASS: fighter/cleric
ALIGNMENT: lawful neutral (main verse, default) | chaotic neutral (failed trial) or lawful good (passed trial) and here's my favorite quote from r/ to describe how that affects his character:
AFFILIATION: Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart™ | Gorion's Ward | none
GENERAL TAG | HEADCANONS
VERSES
Canon Verse: Aka his main storyline during the events of BG2: Shadows of Amn. Default is that he travels with the ward (at least temporarily) and eventually fails his trial. Alternatives possible!
Baldur's Gate 3 verse: House Delryn is a noble family from Waterdeep and Anomen's story remains more or less the same. He is estranged from his father and aspires to become a knight with the Order of the Radiant Heart (which canonically had a seat in Waterdeep). He has left Waterdeep behind and now travels Faerûn to gain wisdom and skills until the day his trial comes. Possible companion.
