How is it possible for two actors to be so in sync that their physical scenes genuinely feel completely organic and not scripted at all?! Like insane chemistry is one thing, it’s rare...but it happens. And the Willems have it. But there’s something else that the Willems do/have in their physical scenes and it is another thing entirely. It’s just so damn natural! It’s so in-the-moment! I’m someone who usually feels awkward about most physical scenes in film or television with very few exceptions. But with Robbe and Sander scenes I feel so caught up in the moment. In a way it’s a lot because it’s almost like intruding on their privacy. But in another way, I don’t feel awkward like the actors are uncomfortable and scripted to do certain things. It feels wholly and completely believable and real and it’s honestly amazing. Especially given the actors’ ages and the fact that they know each other irl. I mean honestly, I feel like it would be a lot easier to make out with someone who is a relative stranger than to make out with and have my tongue and body all over a friend. I’m genuinely in awe of them.

Unpopular opinion

Season 3 of Skam Italia is incredibly underrated. It had like 2 meh episode after the brother thing especially because of the lack of girlsquad moments, 100% agree, but other than that it's super good and it had the best version of many Noorhelm moments (even better than OG) like for example :

- the entire sleepover clip (every second of that and then Edoardo singing Creep simply being too good for this world)

- the whole fight with the homophobes and everything that lead to that (the fact that we saw how it all started episodes before the actual fight)

- Filippo Sava being an amazing Eskild and Ele's actual brother and their lovely banter dynamic (the hug at the end 💕)

- Ele being the only Noora to tell her William the truth herself

- The reunion and Edo apologising explicitly for thinking only about his feelings

- Eva and Marti friendship still going strong in the background and how protective he is of her (probably the only Eva/Isak friendship that doesn't get forgotten after season 1)

- (I should probably screen my favorites shots when I get to season 3 in my rewatch because the cinematography is just as crazy good as it always is in Italia)

- The scene in the car where Ele opens up about her childhood and Edo promises he won't ever hurt her and how emotional it was and how much more powerful it gets when we actually get to see her mother and how she acts towards Ele

- The girlsquad and the boysquad hanging out together

- The fight between Edo end Ele and "ASCOLTAMI UN ATTIMO!"

- Edoardo Incanti in every single clip

god i know we give the writers a lot of shit but one thing that continues to stick in my mind is how r+s’ sexual scenes actually stay in character and make me feel actual emotions instead of just focusing on mouths! bodies! skin! together! the way that a lot of media do. like, stupid shoes, for example. it doesn’t appear like a necessary part of the narrative on the outset, but it winds up being one of the most memorable elements of the scene?? the lightness it brings to the moment, the giggle it elicits from robbe, the clumsy mess of limbs on the literal floor as a result with a certified spider-man kiss to boot. it all shows more than like, ok this is a Sexy Scene, but also, these are teens who are getting used to each other, who are having fun and who make each other laugh and who can’t keep their hands off one another and who are a little awkward and a little nervous and also just so so happy to finally be together.

and even the hotel scene, which has sometimes felt a little gratuitous imo, puts emotion in the driver’s seat instead of just physicality. the look sander gives - you know the one, it matches in 11:03 - is indicative of sander’s desperation to give robbe this piece of himself, and we later come to understand this sentiment as him wanting to love robbe but afraid he’ll break anything they have. the shots of sander toying with robbe’s necklace also stand out to me: it seems so natural, sander’s movement, as does robbe’s instinct to wrap sander up in his arms and hold him tight. it’s not just about having this physical time together or whatever, it’s about partnership and love and connection and a deep trust for each other as people. and the after moment also winds up being such an important precursor for what’s to come - playing “come down” at the moment where robbe is embracing sander and sander is tethering himself to reality through the necklace and robbe’s presence winds up mirroring this sense of groundedness that arises in 11:03.

i think especially considering how wtfock needed to build a narrative that makes you care just as deeply for sander as robbe does - while also not having sander on screen a ton - it was suuuuper important for the team to make sure that these big physical moments also pack an emotional punch and give a glimpse as to why r+s work well as a partnership. and ultimately they do so by bringing elements of levity and seriousness to the scenes, making us care even more for these characters as they navigate their new relationship.
