I hope when they release the deleted scenes there's at least one glimpse of Axel, because it kinda bummed me that he basically decided to lose the match going against his sensei's order of breaking Miguel's spine and then he just disappeared and no one even knows he did that.
I feel like we needed at least one more scene with him, like either sensei Wolf lashing out at him after the loss and either Johnny or Daniel doing the Miyagi role where they save him, or maybe just him apologising to Robby, or having a conversation with Sam (who was the only person who told him it was wrong what his sensei was doing).
Like, anything.
No mercy was the best line of this season and with this I mean both
"NOOOOOOOO" "mercy"
and
"No fucking mercy"
and
"Got him. No mercy"
That little kiss Johnny pressed on Robby's face healed something in me I will not elaborate.
Maybe it's because I already knew for months Robby wasn't going to get THIS particular win, but I find the win he actually got even better.
The main reason he wanted this win so bad was because he felt this was his last chance to win big before he had to face a life that gave him zero opportunities in terms of a bright future or succesfull career, and he fought so well that even if he couldn't finish THIS match he will now get filthy rich by just keep doing what he loves, training and competing -because let's remember he's not just doing sponsorship and stuff, the lady specifically said they'll be competing.
The counselour said there were zero chances he'd go professional with his sport and now he got a contract in his hands before he even got out of school.
Like not only he doesn't have to worry about his future anymore because he got his dream job right there, it also means THIS win wasn't his last chance at all, because now it's literally his job to keep competing so he'll have all the chances in the world to bring home trophy after trophy.
They made a point of giving us that scene with Johnny where they show Robby learnt what Johnny never could and accepted a karate loss for what it is, but while Johnny had to wait 30 years to get a win, in my eyes they gave it to Robby right away with that job offer and all the possibilities that come with it -they made a point in making it clear he could have won if Axel didn't cheat, so I can assure you it's not going to be 30 years before Robby wins his first championship.
LIKE I'M SORRY BUT WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS GETTING BROKE TO PAY THEIR TUITION MY BABY IS GETTING RICH TRAVELLING THE WORLD KICKING ASS WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND AND POSING WITH A BOTTLE OF SOME ENERGIC DRINK HERE AND THEN LOVE THAT FOR HIM
SPOILER if you haven't seen the clip.
I saw several Miguel fans basically saying that we can't be upset if Johnny doesn't put Robby before Miguel just because he's his biological son because family doesn't end with blood and adoptive kids deserve the same love and all that, but then why the hell doesn't anyone expect the same from Carmen?
The show couldn't care less about showing a relationship between Robby and Carmen, she never ever mention him (not even when telling Johnny and Miguel that her unborn child will have a badass brother -hello? He will have TWO brothers), and apparently it's perfectly fine for her to only care about Miguel since that's her biological son.
But somehow the show makes sure to show Johnny trying so so so bad to not show any kind of favoritism to one or the other when it comes to Robby and Miguel (when he does the exact same speech before the captain fight, like wow, Robby waited 16 years for his father to support him and when that finally happens is with the same exact words he tells Miguel too), because suddenly someone being the biological son means nothing when it comes to him.
This means in this little family Miguel will always be Carmen's and yaya's first choice, while Robby is not allowed to be Johnny's first choice becuase he needs to be impartial.
And somehow he didn't get the short end of the stick?

They're doing their job right.
