Flashing a smile, Sophia leaned over the boothâs front to take the giant zebra sheâd managed to win. âThanks! Iâve had my eye on this all day!â Beaming, she turned away from the booth, making her way back towards the BBQ. Looking over her prize, she ran through a list of potential names in her head, taking only a moment to feel silly for still naming her stuffed animals. âJimmy. Definitely Jimmy.â Glancing around, she took in all the happy couples shuffling past, scoffing softly to herself. âWelp, Jimmy, looks like itâs just me and you.â Without looking up, Sophia continued her walk. Suddenly, she felt herself slam into someone sheâd managed to walk in front of. âOh! Iâm so sorry! I definitely need to pay more attention! Are you alright?â

âItâs four dollars individually or three for ten dollars for hotdogs, you can have either cheese, onions or jalapenos with ketchup or mustard and oh my god iâm boring myself just talking about itâŠ.â she trailed off, wondering whose ass she forgot to kiss to end up being put on bbq duty. It was Valentines day, which also meant her birthday and even though she had no intention on making that little tidbit known, she at least wanted to spend it nose deep in a bottle of jack. Not flipping burgers like a pre-teen for all of Charmingâs residents.
Sophia smiled, listening as the woman gave her speech regarding the price of hotdogs. Nodding, her eyes scanned the spread at the stand in front of her. Pulling her wallet from her purse, she plucked a $5 bill from the folds, offering it to the other. âI appreciate the offer, but Iâm not exactly a meat-eater. I will gladly take one of those lemonades, though. Unless, of course, you have a soy or tofu option?â

âFuck yeah! Thatâs what Iâm talking about!â Cliff said, letting out whoops as he successfully managed to bring down the third pile of old milk bottles with a baseball, which gave him the chance to win the biggest plush toy out of the prizes. âOh shit, waitââ Cliff started to say, about to explain that he didnât even want it, just literally played the game for the sake of playing but the attendant was already on to the next customer, causing Cliff to look around, standing there awkwardly with a huge panda stuffed toy under his arm. âSay, you want this?â He asked suddenly, opting to soften the randomness with a sheepish smile. âNo catch, but I, uh, I didnât expect to win it and so Iâm giving it away, all in the spirit of Valentineâs or whatnot, right?â
Exploring the Valentineâs Day festivities wasnât something Sophia had planned on doing- not fully, anyway, But, the draw of the flashing lights, the music, and really the nostalgia of it all had gotten to her, drawing her out. As she made her way through the aisle of games, she stopped in her tracks when she heard the sound of a familiar voice. âMe?â She asked curiously, cocking an eyebrow as her eyes fell to the large plushie under Cliffâs arm. âSo we meet again. Wild circumstances.â She laughed, her eyes falling momentarily to the ground before reconnecting with his once more. âYou sure there isnât someone special youâd rather give that to? I mean, Iâm just the weird girl from the bar, right?â Sophia teased, a smirk playing at the corners of her lips.

Andy made a face at the thought of upending her routine. âDonât get me wrong, Iâd love to exist during the day like everyone else but itâs not practical for me to go back and forth. I know some people who do it and thatâs crazy to me. Iâd never figure out a sleep schedule.â Glad to be done with her residency for a few years now, Andy could still remember the endless hours and grueling schedules. She took another sip of her coffee before reaching for the little bowl with sugar packets, emptying half of a brown sugar one into her drink and watching the crystals dissolve as Sophia spoke.Â
âI know how that feels. Believe me.â When sheâd moved to California with her mom, sheâd been homesick for New York, and then when she went to college on the east coast, sheâd missed California and her mom. And now that she was back on the west coast, she felt that familiar pull east. âI feel like thereâs always parts of home that pull you in its direction, you know?â She gave the other woman a reassuring smile, âit gets better. And the fitting in thing ââ I dunno. Always felt a bit overrated.âÂ
âHey, I get it, you donât owe me an explanation for sure. Iâm just glad weâre actually getting to see each other, and to spend some time together.â Nodding, Sophia listened as Andy continued speaking. âOh, yeah, no, thatâs totally insane, no reason for that at all. I, for one, value my sleep far too much. I know youâre the same. Sophia watched as the other woman emptied the sugar into her coffee cup, taking a quick glance out the window to her right. Knowing she had a friend who could relate helped, though it didnât work to completely dissolve her feelings of homesickness. âYeah, youâre right about that. Itâs just strange, you know? I moved out here to get away from all that. To see what else there is, outside of living in a small, southern town where all that matters is how you look and what your last name is. I just...Wanted to be able to breathe. But sometimes I wonder if here is really any different.â Sighing, Sophia did her best to keep her composure. After all this time, her motherâs voice still spoke to her from the back of her mind. A lady never cries in public. Stop those tears, tilt that chin, and remember that you are fine, just fine. âA quality I admire about you, Andy. I donât know why Iâve spent my life so desperate to fit in. I think about it sometimes, but...Maybe thatâs something else to explore. To think about. Maybe it has something to do with how I was raised.â Cocking an eyebrow, Sophia offered the other woman a quick smirk before shaking her head. âBut, enough of the sad shit. How are things over at the hospital?â She asked, reaching for her water glass.Â
cliffkilman·:
âThe pleasure of speaking,â Cliff repeated with a smirk. Of course, with his luck, heâd be seated next to someone who didnât get it, let alone who was actually there. He didnât actually know if that was a good thing or not, but it definitely wasnât what he was expecting. âWhy do you talk like that? Like youâre some kind of princess or at a really important job interview. Weâre at a bar in the middle of a small ass town, for Christâs sake,â Cliff said, letting out a laugh before tilting the neck of his beer in her direction. âNameâs Cliff. Cliff Kilman,â he replied, following the way she introduced herself before shrugging. âI take it you havenât been here in Charming long then. Why does this town have the pleasure of your presence?â
Raising her eyebrows, Sophia tilted her head slightly, a smirk making its way across her face. âI said what I said, yes.â She replied, crossing her arms across her chest as she leaned back in her chair. âIâm no princess, and this certainly isnât a job interview. My Mama raised me to be as polite as possible, especially until youâre aware of who it is youâre speaking to. For all I know, youâre the owner of this establishment. Or the mayor, Though, judging by your response Iâll take a gander and say neither of those apply in this situation. Make no mistake, though. I may speak formally, but that doesnât mean that canât change. Quickly.â Smiling, her eyes fell to the beer the man was holding before reconnecting with his own gaze. âPleasure to meet you, Cliff. No, I havenât, youâre correct.â Despite feeling uncertain as to whether or not she should be offended, Sophia couldnât help but to chuckle when her own verbiage was mirrored. âWork, really. I filled the open Veterinary Technician position at Paws and Claws. Outside of that...I donât know. I suppose it was just...High time for a change. Iâm not generally one to make assumptions, but Iâm willing to bet youâve been around Charming for a while. Are you from here?â
gunnerhqs·:
The man rubbed a hand against his forehead, turning to meet the face behind the voice, looking her up and down before returning to look at the spot in front of him. He didnât particularly know why feeling someoneâs eyes on him had annoyed him so much, but he knew that it was probably because he usually associated it with someone trying to start a fight with him. âPeople make mistakes, Iâm sure it wonât happen,â he replied, summoning the bartender so he could order another drink. âYou want one? On me?âÂ
âWell, I appreciate the understanding.â Sophia replied, shaking her head slightly as she brought a palm up to rest on her forehead. At the offer of another drink, she looked up, a small smile playing at the corner of her lips. âThatâs very generous of you to offer. Sure, beer is fine. Iâve never been one for the hard stuff.â Shifting a bit, she turned more towards the man. âIâm Sophia Prescott, Iâm fairly new in town. I donât believe Iâve seen you around. Whatâs your name?â
andyruiz·:
Andy took another bite of her pancakes before setting her fork down on the ceramic plate as she chewed. Sheâd had some good pancakes before, been to some good diners too, but even she had to admit these were some of the best sheâd had. Taking a sip of her coffee (decaf, because she wasnât crazy), Andy waved off the question with a laugh. âIâm on nights for the next month so Iâd rather not mess up my schedule, you know? By going to bed now and having to be up tomorrow night.â She grabbed one of the strawberries from the side of her plate, biting into. âIâm glad you could make it but alsoâŠI could ask you the same question, Soph. Any reason youâre kicking it at midnight?â
Despite the hour, Sophia was grateful to have the company of her friend. Due t their inverted schedules, she and Andy didnât get many chances to see each other. Smiling, she took a sip of her water as the woman across from her explained. âThat makes sense. Messing up a routine sucks, and I know how hard it is to get back into that schedule. Overnights are tough anyway.â She sighed, remembering her times working overnights at her previous animal hospital. âI feel you.â Hearing Andy return the question shouldâve been expected, though it wasnât necessarily one Sophia had planned on discussing in-depth. Shrugging, she pushed the remnants of her meal around the plate with her fork. âNo real reason, I guess. Maybe Iâm just a little homesick. I donât know...â Sighing, she brought her fist up to rest under her chin. âDonât get me wrong, itâs great here. And Iâm glad I did this. Moved out on my own, you know? But...Sometimes, I donât get the sense Iâm fitting very well.â Sophia admitted.Â
nikolas-reigner·:
Nik nods and laughs softly. âYeah, nice little adrenaline rush before your casual peruse.â He sighs and rolls his eyes at the sight, watching people trying to pry the women apart. âSorry about this. Maybe I should install sprinklers or something. Hose people down out here when things get out of hand.â A smile and a turn of his head as he seriously considers it. âI wonder if thatâs legalâŠâ He thinks to himself out loud. âDid you know what you were getting or are you just going to have a look around? If you know I can at least check inventory on my phone if you donât want to finish the lovely show here.â NIk points passively at the crowd. âI know itâs kind of early so this might not have been penciled into your schedule. Personally havenât even had my coffee yet,â he sighs.
âOh, definitely. Usually I prefer my adrenaline rushes to come from things like roller coasters, but hey, beggars canât be choosers I guess.â Smiling, Sophia shifted her weight, placing the bags she was carrying carefully onto the sidewalk next to her. âNo need to apologize. Iâm guessing you didnât orchestrate this. You know,â Sophia said, âAt the clinic we keep an air horn on hand in case of dog fights. Just set that baby off one good time, and it startles the dogs into stopping. Maybe thatâs would work here, too. And, Iâm pretty positive thatâd be cheaper than sprinkler installation.â She joked. âOh, I was just coming to browse, really. Iâm fairly new in town myself, and havenât had a chance to really check everything out yet. It is pretty early but, I donât mind. I guess this is just another charming fixture of...Well, Charming. If youâre in need of coffee, I wouldnât mind to run down the street and grab some. I could use a chai tea myself.â
genesisporter·:
âi did get that feeling that you are more understanding,â she said after a moment,â and thank god i am not alone with my weird habits.â genesis let out a small laugh and shrugged,â we are on the same page with that too.â she knew that most people would want to avoid going to the ER if they could help it. she was shrugging as she glanced towards the wine on the shelves before glancing back at her,â i suppose i do but they donât know that i used to sneak some of their booze.â it seemed that they grew up in rather different households. she was leaning back against the cart after they shook hands. she put on a slight smile and nodded,â youâre welcome,â she said after a moment, taking her hand back,â it is different here.â she wasnât surprised at the question but she was shaking her head,â i was born here, didnât grow up but i moved back about seven years ago?â sometimes it felt like longer if you asked her.Â
âGlad to know I give off that vibe, then.â Sophia beamed. âOh, no, definitely not. Itâs funny, we walk around so concerned about other people thinking weâre strange or weird when the reality is, with so many other people on the planet...Well, I guess thatâs just to say weâre more alike than we think.â Dipping her head, Sophia cleared her throat and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. At hearing Genesis admit to sneaking some of her parentsâ alcohol, Sophiaâs eyebrows shot up. âWow! Iâll tell you, even if there would have been alcohol in my house, Iâm not sure I would have ever been brave enough to try any of it. Then again, my Mom had me convinced booze of any kind was Satanâs juice...I just mean, that was definitely brave of you. And, you were obviously good at the sneaking game if they still donât know.â A slight blush made its way across Sophiaâs cheeks as she realized she was rambling. She was grateful when the other woman provided an answer to her previous question, something she held onto to try and dig herself out of the hole sheâd talked herself into. âSo you moved away, then back huh? Mind if I ask where you moved to? I donât mean to pry, I just...I guess I havenât really had the chance to talk to too many people. Human connection, and all that.â Sophia laughed.Â

1.) whatâs your museâs favorite album of all time / favorite artist?      -Sophia couldnât pick a favorite album if she tried, though her favorite artist is Janelle MonĂĄe.Â
12.) do they prefer sleeping alone or with someone else?      -Really it depends on her mood, she doesnât mind sleeping alone, necessarily. Though, it has been quite some time since she shared a bed with anyone, and would greatly enjoy that at this point.Â
22.)Â do they have a fear they want to conquer, but havenât yet? Â Â Â Â Â Â -Sheâs in the process of conquering her fear currently. Having been under her familyâs thumb for so long, she was afraid to go out on her own, despite her desire to explore. However, in moving to Charming sheâs overcoming that fear, though that homesickness does still get to her sometimes.Â
32.)Â do they critique others easily? do they judge from afar? Â Â Â Â Â -No, Sophia does neither of those things. Despite the stereotypes surrounding where and how she was raised, she does her absolute best not to pass judgement. She prefers others not do it to her, and therefore understands it is inappropriate to do it to others.Â
favorite season and why?
Most definitely Spring. Everything is just...Fresh. New. I love seeing all the flowers beginning to bloom. Nature changing is gorgeous, if you ask me. And, the Spring months are the perfect temperatures. Not too hot, not too cold. Thatâs super important.Â

Looking up, Ana immediately recognized the face and flashed the other woman a warm smile. âHey, nice to see you again too!â, she patted Lokiâs back, making him sit. âIâve been doing well, managed to get more sleep now. And you? Oh, Iâm just browsing and buy him a new toy, again for the third time this month. What about you? Do you have a dog as well?â
Sophia returned Anaâs smile, stepping towards her as she reached her hand out for Loki to sniff, giving him a pat on the head once heâd licked her palm. âGood! Thatâs great to hear! Iâve been doing alright, just really trying to...Get myself on track, I guess. Even though Iâve been here for three months, Iâm realizing I still donât know many people. Iâm trying to, you know, do the branching out thing.â She shrugged with a laugh. âOh gosh, sounds like someoneâs a chewer. Makes sense, though. How old is he? Iâd be happy to make a couple of recommendations, if youâd like?â Sophia offered, turning to scan the shelves of toys before her. âMe? Oh, I donât. Well, not here. Iâm looking to change that, though, I-â Gesturing to her scrubs, she brought her eyes back up to meet Anaâs. âI actually work here. Iâm the Veterinary Technician!â

Gunner picked his drink up from the bar, taking a sip as he cast his eyes to the countertop. It had been a long day, sometimes he needed a drink, in fact, most days he needed a drink. The man hated being alone, but he also hated being around loads of people, so travelling to a bar to sit on his own seemed like the only option. Though, it did often end up with him picking a fight with whomever he thought deserved it that night.Â
There was a clink as Gunner placed his empty glass down on the counter, raising his head again and feeling eyes set upon him. âHave you got a problem or can you not find anything else to look at?â he commented, turning his head as he finished his question.Â
To say that Sophia had been struggling was an understatement, though she was doing her best to maintain appearances. Still, she couldnât help but to feel a bit displaced, as though she were still trying to find her footing in town. Truth be told, sheâd been looking for a place to just...Relax. Get out of her own mind. Sliding onto a bar stool, she ordered a beer, her head turning on a swivel as she took in her surroundings. Though, focusing was proving difficult, and she hadnât realized sheâd appeared to have been staring at a man several feet away. Sophia jumped when he spoke, shaking her head slowly as she was pulled from inside her own head. âWhat? Oh, Iâm...Sorry. I didnât mean to stare, honestly. Just...Lost in thought. My bad.â Dropping her head, she felt a blush creeping up her cheeks, hoping she hadnât offended the other too badly. âIt...Wonât happen again.â
genesisporter·:
âand here i thought that no one would get that,â said genesis with a small laugh. she was tilting her head at her response about a keg. it was not the reaction she expected but she didnât mind it. she could only shrug, her lips curving into a slight smile,â oh i know where i can get one but i donât want to land in the emergency room.â her own gaze went towards the shelves that were incredibly well stocked. she was glancing over at her and shrugged,â i grew up in a house with parents who only drank wine,â she admitted,â but iâm more of a jack and coke girl most of the time.â she was glancing towards the bottle in her cart before looking up,â it is kind of a whole new world.â she went to slide her hand into the otherâs and nodded,â nice to meet you sophie,â she said after a second,â iâm genesis and i guess welcome to charming? what do you think of it so far?âÂ
âUnderstandable. But, Iâve heard Iâm generally pretty good at getting things. It helps that itâs something I do myself. You arenât alone there.â She laughed, though her eyebrows furrowed at the last half of her response. âThe emergency room? No, Iâd say thatâs something to avoid when at all possible. Unless youâre into that sort of thing. In which case...Carry on, I suppose.â Sophia listened as the woman spoke, her lips forming a soft smile as she learned a bit more about the other. âOh wow. I guess it makes sense youâd know what youâre doing, then. I think my mama mightâve wholly passed out if my father or anyone else tried to bring alcohol into her home- no matter what it was.â Memories came flooding over her, and for a moment Sophia thought tears might well in her eyes. Swallowing thickly, she managed to stave them off. Shaking Genesisâ hand, Sophie smiled warmly. âItâs a pleasure. Thanks for that, I appreciate it. So far? Itâs great, if you ask me. I really enjoy the whole aesthetic of the place. My boss is easygoing, too, so thatâs a bonus. Have you lived here all your life?â
