Season 5 Theo was someone who tended to show off his body a lot, short sleeves, tight shirts, lower collars, he sees no problem in being completely naked in front of Malia. That guy knew he was hot so he would use it to charm and trick everyone.

And in season 6 Theo is seeing with most of his body covered by many layers like he just wanted to hide himself. And the scenes where he is wearing only short sleeves are the ones he's most vulnerable.

Like when he's sleeping in his truck and gets attacked by the spider and has to deal with it by himself cause he has no one to call. When he gets attack and tortured by the hunter is still o that same white shirt and when he escapes the first thing he does is put his hoodie back on and later on he had one more jacket on.

And also when he takes Gabe pain, when he doesn't let another person agonize in pain on their last moments even if it was somebody that was just trying to kill. Theo took somebody's pain for the first without even flinch cause he finally let himself be able to care freely and to let people see this other side of him.

ok so tying this to the post about theo & his reflection, there's the irony that in s5, yeah, he's comfortable showing off his body, but specifically using it to deceive & we see him literally bare more here, a season where he's lying to the viewer and to the pack, where he has secrets out the wazoo! weaponized vulnerability & the illusion of honesty. <- added: hm i need to think through s5 more.

so, those specific bare scenes are 1) we see him after he chased liam & mason through the school. he's shown from behind, in sharp contrasting light & then he turns and smiles, which is obvs like "yup. got em" but u could also say it's a dare/taunt—can we pin him down? 2) at the gym w/ malia, that's basically all viewed via reflection. and 3) cave scene. SHADOWS!!! and then more contrast. basically we're shown him bare a lot! he's so vulnerable and defenseless guys! but actually, he's taunting us; we can't look at him straight on; and he's refusing to let us shine a lot on him. but all that should be fine cuz he's GOT NOTHING TO HIDE! one time i asked theo raeken to be honest and he got so stressed he threw up.

wait hold on i'm doing the math as i type so sorry you have such a lovely post ok so. i just rewatched the scene & i feel cr*zy. when we see him shirtless in s6 with the spider, WE SEE HIM!!!!! HE IS LOOKING AT HIMSELF IN THE REFLECTION BUT WE ARE LOOKING AT HIM!!!!!! wait hold on putting the pieces together still. <- added: i think what's so significant about this to me is this is the one time we see him shirtless in s6? vs s5 where it's at least three scenes. like ohh the one time we see him totally bare is when he's only looking at himself. huh. oh also that's the one time we see him shirtless after 5a at all actually which is like. 5b = when he starts losing the plot & unraveling so yeahhhh. Yeah. interesting

us directly watching him enact violence on himself vs him alone looking into the reflection. i'm still gonna push for his self-objectification, how he's used his body/looks in the past, because the limited perspective of the reflection is suggestive (as discussed in the linked post) & this is a crazy thing to say maybe but also the penetrative aspect? specifically being, like, insertive? so it's an eroticization of violence. even riskier, i'm gonna go another step further, with the accusation theo makes about schrader ("or did they catch you tryna stick 'em with something else?") while he's once again in a vulnerable position. just that reiteration of theo & his connections of sex and violence. which is just so agonizing, like, absolutely painful.

also the reflection that we're invited to being his perspective on the pull away & the wound. ohhh we are theo watching himself fall apart. we already see him as he is, and now he's forced to see himself too. (has he not had enough self-reflective suffering!??!?! my god.. ha. reflective) .. anyway big if true

Theo stares at Liam's book, taking it and tossing against a wall. Screw you, Liam! Screw everything about you, screw your existence that is so insufferable and screw every shit you do that ruins my day! Theo screams inside his head, feeling his face burn. "Dude… Are you okay?" Theo looks behind, at Tara frozen on his door, frowning her face at him. "Yes" he hoarsely says, rubbing his hand over his face and trying brush away the warmness. Breathing in and swallowing hard as he picks up the papers and Liam's books again, tossing it inside his backpack. "What is that?" she asks, getting in and seating on his bed. Tara looks between the pages of Theo's notebook, reading. "You're studying history?" she narrows a brow at him. "Get out of my room," he says, taking the book away from her and tossing it in his bag too. Tara weirdly smile, falling behind and brushing her limbs on his bed. "Nah, I don't wanna," she yawns. "Why are you studying, anyways? Thought you didn't need that," she mocked. "I don't," he huffs, pulling a face and laying on his bed. Tara shifts on the bed, looking at him. "Meh, anyways, I need to tell you something!" she slyly smiles, shaking his body with her hand. Theo raises a brow and turns to her. "Please, no pregnancy." "Ew, knock on the wood!" she widens her hazel-green eyes. "I'm not pregnant and never will be! Don't ever say something like that again! Ugh." He roll his eyes, huffing a laugh through his nose. "Say what is it, dork."

How Theo always knew all of this so precisely remained a mystery to Liam. Even though he should actually be aware of everything the older boy must have experienced in his recent past. Even if he hardly ever brought up the Dread Doctors to him. Because all the young wolf ever got in return were know-it-all remarks that seemed intended to show him just how many intellectual traits his entire brainstem encompassed. For which Liam could scratch his beautiful forest-green eyes out right now. Because the panic that had been running at full speed just a moment ago-manifested through excessive crying fits-turned completely unexpectedly into a boiling, heated anger without him even being able to find the real cause for it.
