What an IEP gave me. #final
So here's the thing with me in finals. I don't study being in an IEP for learning disorders I was trained not to study for test. Instead during all my classes I must be fully immersed in the class to be in that moment 100% of the time. That training has helped me throughout my education and when I do take tests they are a true testimony to exactly what I've taken away from the class needless to say I had pretty decent grades. I see a lot of people cramming in studying giving up sleep to reread that chapter 6 times I understand that is needed for some people repetition is a form that best suits them. But studies show go without a good night sleep and a well balanced meal no matter how many hours you put in studying you will not perform as much as you could perform have you had those two things. The trimester is over my last final is submitted, because of the training to fully immersed myself in every moment of every day, I'm not feel stressed or pressured I felt confident because I knew what I was doing. Academic wise I'm not the best student, at least how was not the best student. My grammer is horrifying to say the least being in an IEP when I was young gave me the courage to ask for help there are programs set in place to help people who may not be academically strong and I visited those people every week to look over my essays, and projects. So that I knew that was happening my head is also happening on paper. I spoke to a lot of my friends today all them saying that they were giving up to two days of sleep didn't know what to do and not scary. Life happens and so does distractions I'm finding that in the early years of education it gave me more than just a way to get a passing grade they gave me a way to prioritize what my time. That being said I was grateful for being in IEP. For a long time I wasn't; I didn't enjoy being taken out of class early and give an easy a test I don't like the fact that I couldn't do certain classes because I didn't qualify for them in fact I hated the IEP in every way I wanted to get out of there as soon as I was able to it took 8 years but I did it and I graduated with a 4.0 in my high school and got into a private university I'm not ashamed of the way my mind works in fact I more proud. People who've never experienced learning disorder really don't understand the joy that I get when I get an A on a test it was the same tested everyone else took not putting myself above anyone else, before long time I couldn't even do this time to test. I love the fact that I can be on the same level with everybody else regardless of how much more thinking and processing I have to do but I'm happy about that I'm happy that my life is turned out the way it is I'm unsure of why I'm doing something I was trained and if I don't know how to do something to ask ask when it first pops in your head ask when you're feeling unsure ask when you're terrified even though everyone else wants to leave for early. If you're struggling for finals is trimester or semester please remember this you are seriously strong I believe you can get through this what causes of how you study thing about what each class meant to you what is usually learn its only class I meant nothing to you I'm afraid you're going to have to spend the extra time we teaching yourself what was important but always remember this is your life and the time if you're spending it in these classes have to mean something else you've been wasting your time make every moment means something to you sitting back and letting somebody else take up your time when you're not doing anything is like a long and somebody to live in your house rent free. So what did an IEP give me courage, they gave me strength, it gave me my moments, my time, most importantly my knowledge.
