Its Happening
So guys! I am going vegetarian as of tomorrow. “Why did I decide to go vegetarian?”, you may ask. I am so sick of all the antibiotics that get pumped into our food day in and day out. Also the animal abuse the continues to get brushed under the rug. Lets see, the effect that it has on our environment, it’s kind of expensive to get hormone free meat and I’m just tired of it all.
Funny story: When my mother was pregnant with me she could not eat any meat. She said she couldn’t even stand the smell of it, because it would make her sick. Once she gave birth to me, she couldn’t eat meat for 3 MORE YEARS. What!? That blew my mind when she told me about it. I know it took me a very long time to eat meat as child and when I finally started, I refused to eat red meat. I honestly can say I didn’t start eating red meat until I was about 16 or 17. So, moral of the story, I was basically born a vegetarian. I am going shopping on my break today and, to say the least, I’m super fuckin’ pumped about it! I thought I would let you guys know what new shenanigans I have been up to. My grocery list is bellow:
Grains: Brown rice, sweet potatoes, red potatoes, brown rice pasta and quinoa
Protein: Eggs, tofu AAAANnnnnd thats as good as it get for me right now.
Veggies: Green beans, asparagus, spinach, red and white onions, corn, broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers, and kale.
Legumes: Chickpeas, black beans and pinto beans.
Nuts: almonds and cashews.
Fruits: Apples, bananas, oranges, avocado and pomegranates if they are there!
I hope you beauties have a great day! Also, I am very new to this. If you have any input on how to maintain a balanced diet, please let me know your tips and tricks.

THIS WEEKEND!
It has been a very busy weekend for your girl. I had a show at Northern Pacific Coffee Co on thursday, which went all right. Yesterday, I had a show for valentines day at Half Pint Pizza Pub, which was amazing! I danced, sang, twirled and jumped off the stage at some point. The thing that I love about music is that it brings people together from tone, to gender, age and people with different lifestyles.
While the weekend has been amazing, and is not over yet, I have been fighting through a tough cold. I can honestly say, I am really proud of myself! It definitely has not been easy, hell, its been down right nerve wracking. I think to myself “What if I choke on my mucus? What if I start having a cough attack mid song?!” Its all mental people. I just focused on how I wanted my show to go and thats the way it went and more.
Sometimes, its hard to find balance between creating and the business side of music. I went to an ASCAP Expo last summer and was delighted to see Aloe Blacc interviewing Bill Withers. ( These are NOT EXACT words, but very close) Aloe asked, “ What advice can you give people who are trying to make a career out of music?” Bill Withers replied, “There is a difference between music, and music business.” That really hit home for me. Basically, my translation is, it doesn’t matter how spectacular you are. If I’m not making moves on the chess table, I will forever be a pond dreaming about the other side. There is also a lot to be said about where someone is happy in a certain position. Well, if you must know, I’m trying to “check-mate” the music industry.
Much Lo^e,
Sotaria
WWWWWH?
Good morning! I’m going to talk about what this blog and I are about.
Who- I am Sotaria Gibson and I love long walks by the beach at sunset. I’m kidding, but I’m not. No, seriously, I love music, dancing, acting, painting, drawing, basically anything to do with the arts. I was born March 31st, 1995 in Northridge California. I come from a beautiful family, who love and support me.
What- This blog is most likely going to be a recap of events that take place in my life and music career. The ups, the downs, the “what the fucks” and “aw how sweet” Which usually all happens in ONE DAY.
Where- I am based in Tacoma WA a.k.a TA- COMPTON. Honestly, its funny when people say that. They must have never experienced the hood before. I lived on boulder highway in las vegas before this. Hookers were chain linked to that damn highway and our neighbors had a yelling match every night. Besides that, you may not be familiar with Tacoma. “Where the HELL is that?” you may ask. It is located 45 min south of Seattle. “Oh Seattle, I think I’ve heard of that.” Any who, It is a great small town filled with great people. The arts are abundant as well as the beauty.
When- When did I start my Journey as an artist... I would say April 2015. I literally quit my job and dove face first into debt. Yeah, I definitely should have thought the process through a little more. Nonetheless, The period of time in which I was “jobless” I made so many connections! I established myself as an artist in Tacoma, I wrote and produced my demo all by myself (bandcamp.com/sotaria), I started to fly back and forth from here to California for music purposes, and became much more confident as an artist/ songwriter.
Why- I became an artist for the very fact that singing was equal to breathing for me. I was a closet singer. My parents knew I wanted to sing and they put me in vocal lessons for about 2 years. I soon started to get in touch with what it meant to be an artist. An artist to me, is someone who reflects the current high’s and low’s of their time period. So, I began to write about things I felt as an individual and tried to make them relatable to society as a whole.
How- This ones good. How am I supposed to make all this possible. I dont. even. know. I do know that its going to happen, though. I have too much passion and desire to let this go and if I did let this go, it would probably be the death of me spiritually.
Sorry to get all dark on you at the end! I hope you enjoyed this! Much Lo^e
