New logo design
Chosen Brief: Hetty’s Heavenly Treats
What a good way to start second year of university with a live brief. I have always wanted to experience how it would feel and be like to design something for a real-life client. We have been given 6 amazing briefs that include a prize and a good potential as an upcoming graphic designer. There was a variety of choices to choose from like designing and re-creating a brand identity, designing visual graphics to be put on babies’ clothes etc. However, the one that caught most of my attention straight away without going into details to any other brief was Hetty’s cupcakes. This brief has us designing a packaging design for her brand that has an ambition for her products to be sold in supermarkets such as Waitrose. I was also interested in the brief Turner Duckworth. The reason for this was because I like designing and re branding brands that are already out there. I like helping out and coming up with new ideas that could potential be a successful hit for a brand that has lost many customers due to their logo. This brief had an amazing prize for the winner to be working at Turner Duckworth in 2021 for 4 to 6 weeks paid and have all accommodation and travels paid for. This is a great opportunity to get involved in but however I had to go with what my gut was saying which was the Hetty’s cupcakes brand.
One of the reasons of why I picked this brief was because I wanted to have a chance at designing something amazing for Hetty’s brand that could potentially be sold in supermarkets. It would be lovely to see my design in store which would mean that I have accomplished one of my goals in life. Another reason why I chose this brief is because I myself always buy ready cake mixtures from the supermarkets and try them out myself and trick my family into thinking that I created this cake by scratch, and they would be proud of me. I like making and trying out new things in the kitchen, so when I first read about this ready mixture dough mix I was okay I don’t need to read the rest of the 6 briefs as I already love this one without even continuing to read the rest of the presentation. Eka (The client) has put her time and effort in getting a good recipe done. She is a very positive women which has put love and effort into her products so I would love to help her goals by designing a lovely design for her cupcake product to be sold in supermarkets. I want Eka’s packaging to be unique just like her unique frozen cupcake idea in order to get her brand to stand out against the rest of the cake mixture products put out their already.
Had fun using Adobe Illustrator by trying out a melting effect using the Pencil Tool. I had fun editing typography by adding drip effects to it. After trying this out, I found out that doing this dripping effect is better done on Illustrator rather than Photoshop.
