Komatsu, Ishikawa — Quiet Corners of Hokuriku
Komatsu, Ishikawa ended up being one of those places that quietly unfolds on you.
Not a checklist destination. Not optimized for influencers. Just an industrial Hokuriku city with incredible seafood, deeply local hot spring culture, retro community spaces, and mountains constantly hovering in the distance.
A few places from the trip:
🍣 よし鮨 Neighborhood sushi energy. Quiet counter, local regulars, excellent seafood without ceremony. https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E3%82%88%E3%81%97%E9%AE%A8/
🍣 Sushi Tsubaki More refined and intimate. Seasonal Ishikawa seafood, careful presentation, strong sake selection. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Sushi+Tsubaki/
☕ 小松 KABULET(こまつカブーレ) Part café, part community hub, part retro memory capsule. One of the most interesting spaces near Komatsu Station. https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E5%B0%8F%E6%9D%BE+KABULET%EF%BC%88%E3%81%93%E3%81%BE%E3%81%A4%E3%82%AB%E3%83%96%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AC%EF%BC%89/
♨️ 十湯物語 Private reservable baths attached to Komatsu Green Hotel. Surprisingly affordable and deeply relaxing after a long day. https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E5%8D%81%E6%B9%AF%E7%89%A9%E8%AA%9E/
♨️ 天然温泉 あたかの湯 The “real local onsen” experience. Mineral-heavy water, older facilities, zero pretension. https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E5%A4%A9%E7%84%B6%E6%B8%A9%E6%B3%89+%E3%81%82%E3%81%9F%E3%81%8B%E3%81%AE%E6%B9%AF/
🏨 Komatsu Green Hotel Retro business hotel attached to genuinely excellent hot spring facilities. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Komatsu+Green+Hotel/
✈️ Umi to Hakusan A surprisingly stylish airport restaurant/lounge at Komatsu Airport. The last taste of Ishikawa before departure. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Umi+to+Hakusan/
♨️ Awazu Onsen Public Bath Old Hokuriku onsen-town atmosphere. Lanterns, quiet streets, slightly faded charm in the best way possible. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Awazu+Onsen+Public+Bath/
♨️ せせらぎ温泉 瀬領 Probably my favorite bath of the trip. Forest air, open-air baths, silence, and the feeling of time slowing down. https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E3%81%9B%E3%81%9B%E3%82%89%E3%81%8E%E6%B8%A9%E6%B3%89+%E7%80%AC%E9%A0%98/
Komatsu feels like a place where everyday life still outweighs tourism. Regional cafés full of students and retirees. Quiet sushi counters. Rural baths with regulars soaking silently while rain hits the mountains outside.
Honestly one of the most relaxing trips I’ve had in Japan.
