Today's #SoulofSuwBehindtheSheets is a short but sweet post. This page introduces Snoogums which is a character inadvertently named by my mom. When I was a toddler/baby Mom would call me her little "Snoogums" so this became a fitting name for the supremium that represents the joy of youth.

This is one of my favorite pages from the first issue of Soul of Suw. Here you meet Amage (pronounced ay-maug) the personification of love along with a host of other supremiums (pronounced sep-pre-um). Supremium are god-like beings that are muzik incarnate. "At the end of eternity, time began and in the beginning was muzik" As Soul of Suw developed into a mythology, I became determined to give it an African-American theme. This wasn't Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones so I needed to create a different identity for the story. As I researched I would soon discover the deep penetrating association music had in African-American culture and in turn, discovered what a great influence this culture had on the Americas.
