New obsession: Slaves Their style is impeccable - influenced by all the British subcultures we know and love
adidas x Barbour
These are tight. Not sure about the coats though...
Really nice little film about the Belgian Popcorn scene centred around The Popcorn club in Flanders which played soul and funk music in the early '70s.Â
Quite interesting to see how different the dancing style is to Northern Soul despite the music coming from the same root.
It's easy to get caught up in the subcultures of the UK and forget that similar movements were happening across Europe at around the same time!

This afternoon I was bimbling about in the Museum of London and this Russian guy approached me and we talked about skinhead for like 20 minutes. I felt bad because I'm definitely not a proper Skin, just influenced by the style, and as such don't have any Skin friends or know where they all hang out in London. He was telling me how it's still heavily associated with Neo-Nazism in Moscow, and how a lot of them dress like shit. He said he was expecting London to be full of Skins, Mods and Casuals. I was like, I wish pal. It was dead nice of him to come over and chat anyway, made my day. Skinheads of the world unite and all that.
This is an exciting development.
Stills from Mike Skinner's Spirit of '69
A very distant pic of me wearing a Fred Perry gingham shirt, navy suit and desert boots. We went to Canning Town for the cable car thing - one of the grimmest places I've ever been to, hence the thumbs up.

"They are the last genuinely misunderstood post-War subculture."
Definitely pre-ordering this on 29 August. Comes in men's AND women's sizes!

Long-sleeved polo shirts are my new favourite thing.

I’m undecided about this socks and slides thing. The prematurely middle-aged side of me that relishes wearing trainers for the comfort and practicality just as much as for the look is proper keen. However, I live in Shoreditch which is where many shoe crazes are born and so overworked that they eventually die. In the past few years, we’ve managed to kill off creepers, New Balance and AM1s, as well as 5-panel hats and half-mast jeans with no socks. Outside of the streetwear/adi-obsessive circles, this look is decidedly normcore - a word I both hate and don’t understand. Normcore is basically fashion for people who cba right? Whilst I’m an advocate of everything three-striped, maybe I should continue flogging the dead Air Max horse for a bit longer. Or just buy em when I move to Mile End.
