Well, there’s a theory I’m from Mars which may or may not be true, of course, we’re related so that means you’re not from here either.

Only if you’ll have me. [He couldn’t let her go, not yet while he savored how she fit so perfectly in his arms as if she belonged there. She didn’t, he knew, even if he desperately wished that she did, that she could be his and for a few hours she would be. The habit he couldn’t break, the girl he couldn’t let go even though reason told him so, it’s the only way he can protect her. It wasn’t the first night he’d shown up on her doorstep and he feared it would not be his last either, trying to fit the jagged pieces back together to make himself whole. If only for a few hours.]
[ He spoke as if she had a choice in the matter, that her heart was under her command and could will it to love or not love. But it had never been the case, not from the first night or any of the ones that would follow it as she let her heart fall to pieces every time he walked away but knowing he would didn't change anything or leave her with any regrets. She'd hold onto him for as long as she could and then some, with no regard for the morning when she'd have to pick up the pieces of her heart all over again. ] Stay.
[Laughs] I’m sure you are, and I gotta say I’m curious about this ‘ESPN or something’ but I’m not exactly good at girl talk. Y’know, since I’m not a girl.
You don't have to be good at girl talk because you're not a girl. You talk about girls because you're a boy. Sometimes Cameron, I wonder what planet you're from.
Yup, there’s a girl here and there but you aren’t here to talk about girls are you?
Maybe. I can be good at the girl talk. It helps, you know, being one and all. It's like I've got ESPN or something with them.
[He buries himself in the crook of slender neck, leaving his troubles outside in the cold to be forgotten till morning light he returns her embrace, fully. He’d push her into his bones if he could, and she would kindly let him, and he tried as he pulled her impossibly close, never wanting to release her.]
[ She would have stayed there forever if he asked it of her, would have done it without his asking as well, but Hallie knew better even if her heart didn't seem to want to listen. It never did. Not when she'd see him in the light of day and he'd look the other direction but in these dark moments, ones that were so sparse it was as if she dreamt him up that she could feel him, all of him come back to her. ] Will you stay? [ She wanted longer than the night but would take what she could get, especially if it meant getting to be close to him again. ]
Pretty much though sometimes I think about sports, and cars, and sometimes even horses that can fly. I think that’d be pretty cool, don’t you think?
So typical boy things then. Though aren't girls supposed to be in there too?
[In an almost fearful way, he could not look at her as he moved one foot after the other, terrified that he might be a sleep he expelled the breath he held tightly in his chest as he crossed her threshold. It felt real, smelled as it always did, of her, of hope.] I’ve missed you terribly so.
[ Once he was in her room, the door shut securely behind him could she finally let go of the hesitation that'd kept her from wrapping her arms around him the second he'd shown up. She didn't want to frighten him away again knowing that is she moved too fast or too slow, he'd slip away from her. ] I've missed you too.
[He merrily passes it off, trying not to bust out laughing when she reaches for it hurriedly.] Knew that would work! Now c’mon, lets kickback and chow down.
Is that all you ever think about, food and relaxing? [ not that she was complaining, just commenting ]
[That little sound of heaven, the grace that kept him from walking down her steps to retreat to his shadows he wished he could leave her be. The feel of her delicate hand, even through the lining of his soiled jacket it soothed him.] Little bird… [he breaths, there’s nothing left to fight her with, nothing in him that can refuse her.]
Don't go. [ already she had one foot back through her door, hoping he would follow her in where it was safe, where it was just the two of them, where his pain couldn't follow even if it was just for the night ] Not tonight.
I swear kid, if you don’t take it in three seconds, I’m gonna drop it! [his hand trembles while he laughs, hot pocket sliding back and forth.]
No! [ the word just slipped out as she jumped forward to grab the small plate, saving the hot pocket from landing on the floor and then having to fight over the only one left. ]
I can go if you want me to…
I should go.
[ she reached out to grab his arm, grab anything she could before he slipped away from her again as she pushed out a meek voice that was still stronger than her when it came to him ] No, please.
[he grins] Yeah but, I warmed it up…with love and science.
"I know it’s late but- something told me you were still awake."
Did you just try to out shrug me? [he raises his brow at her, readily preparing for a shrug-off only to be distracted by the ding of the microwave. Turning back abruptly he pulled it from the unit, presenting it to her with a bow.] Are you ready for the best hot pocket of all time?
[ another shrug ] Did someone else make it?
Aww. c’mon that’s all I get? One of these-[he mimics her shrug as he sets down a plate, chuckling.] that’s alright, the day is still young.
[ Hallie rolled her eyes but the smile was still there as she tapped him on the shoulder and gave him a full fledged shrug. If there was anyone she could talk to, it was him but she wasn't so sure of her voice yet. ]
I know, I know. [With a grin he gets up, heading to the kitchen to prepare her a pair of cheddar cheese pockets.] So how was your day, Hal?
[ she followed him into the kitchen, hands at her sides as she stepped forward to lean against one of the counters and shrugged ]
I’ve got pepperoni and chicken and cheese and I promise they’re both delicious, or do you just need me to move more furniture?
[ she was a vegetarian, though he knew that there was still an air of teasing between them as she signed it anyways with a soft smile ]
