TODAY marks a momentous occasion in Soundscapeās long history. Though we are not currently open and we are STILL chugging away on our revamp, we thought we would take the moment to celebrate SOUNDSCAPEāS ANNIVERSARY!
Judging by the date of our very first acceptance, this little roleplay is officially one year old as of today August 23rd!! Ā Us admins are so happy with all the friendships and memories, IC and OOC that have been made here and know that once we reopen, weāll have another year+ of memories to be made! Itās your admins, here with a VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE! As Iām sure weāve all noticed, despite our promo blog being queued to the brim and all the advertising + updating we do around the main, we are struggling to get interest in our little soundscape home. NOW, donāt think this message is some sort of goodbye because we 100% promise you, weāre not giving up on the wonderful writing community weāve created. If anything, itās the opposite. We will never do that so long as there are interested writers and youāre all willing to be as dedicated as we are!
NOW, hereās whatās going to happen. We will be revamping soundscape into a SKELETON ROLEPLAY! Sounds exciting, right? Youāll all get to keep your characters and the connections you have made for them or you can absolutely exchange out a character you have for a different fc, song, connection, etc. Weāll make more specific posts about how weāre going to go about getting the info for your characterās skeleton later on so donāt send in any changes just yet! Just know that despite the revamp, nothing thatās been established in soundscapeās near-year of being open has to change. If you wish to drop your characters completely, we understand, but we really do believe the writers we have here right now will stick with us through this change!
WHATāS GOING TO HAPPEN on the main starting now and going until we revamp is a whole lot of changing and no promoting. From now until skeleton-time, weāll be stopping new members from joining. You are more than welcome to continue writing and there will be noĀ āactivity checksā either so the choice is yours! I know we will be continuing our own threads and development so youāre welcome to join us!
WE DONāT have an exact date for when soundscape will reopen. There are lots of skeletons to write, html to be edited (side eyes @ dash) graphics to be changed and plots to be updated to reflect the new vision we see for soundscape. We believe this process should be as organic as possible so weāll be asking for your input and feedback along the way and youāre more than welcome to make suggestions! Again, this is not a goodbye message -- weāre turning over a new leaf and, hopefully, with this major change, weāll revive interest in soundscape and youāll have a whole new cropping of new characters with whom to make connections.

Soundscape is a semi appless roleplay set in lower income government funded housing in Baltimore, Maryland. The struggling characters are all based on individual songs that come together to form the āsoundscapeā of the city. If that sounds like something youād like to play out, come and join us! i was just wondering if you could maybe talk to your members about activity? there are some characters that only come on every few days, answer a few asks and then they go off for another few days. it just upsets me because somebody else who really wants the role and could really be on more has lost out because the character is already taken :( sorry if this sounds like a complaint, i don't mean it in that way at all, it just saddens me.
Weāre not entirely sure we see what youāre seeing,Ā ānon. No one comes on just to answer questions (we havenāt had honesty hour in over a week!) and there are plenty of open roles, considering this is an OC roleplay with spots to spare. If itās a taken faceclaim theyāre after, Iām sorry, but thatās not fair on that player to be chasing their faceclaim. Besides that, itās not just one person experiencing slower activity. Activity in the group overall has slowed down considerably because weāve lost a large bunch of members in the past few weeks. We know every single member we have left understands that things are at a stand still right now -- we trust them all to work with us to fight it, even if that means slower replies.Ā
Itās slow for everyone, not just forĀ āsomeā characters. And there are still plenty of open spots and plenty of unclaimed faceclaims you could take up! The taken characters we have are doing their very best to fight a slowing roleplay and weāre grateful theyāre here with us for the long haul. So instead of monitoring someone elseās activity, how about trying out a new faceclaim, taking up one of our many open spots, and helping us to boost overall activity around soundscape?!Ā
Us admins arenāt going anywhere and the members we have left arenāt either. Weāre going to do our best to keep promoting and monitoring membersā activity. We understand your concern but if you look at the blogroll as a whole, itās everyone experiencing the effects of our recent losses, not just one person hogging a āroleā. We donāt mean for this to sound harsh -- weāre just trying to be real with you since you were real with us. We appreciate your concern but the only way activity is going to leap here at soundscape is if we get more apps from dedicated players willing to join like the one sitting in our inbox!
