Demo version of the last track on "Whiten" (2013)
I got a little peace of mind in my mexican friend
he looks at life like I do.
We get to talk in broken english
throw in a little spanish
i’m learning lots of stuff
and he learning stuff too
bernardo my little mexican friend
COULD just talk all day with you!
he got a little nino he calls everyday round 3
talking on the payphone, i hear him say
porque mama porque?
bernardo bernardo que paso bernado
bernado mucho ocupado bernardo
and all those things they’d say
gave you a bad name
they say bernardo liked to beat his wife
yeah they had a couple a fuerte fights
so they kicked back to mexico
cost a thousand bucks to get him home
he hopped the border riding under a bus
but bernardo he never make a fuss
so goddamn
so goddamn happy just to have ‘em back with us
oh bernardo, my little mexican friend
feliz que nos regresas
bernado bernado donde fuiste bernardo
bernardo bernardo porque triste, bernardo
and all those things they’d say
went away.
"Frank Lloyd Wright", a new demo for the upcoming album "Whiten".
This is the ending of my new solo album "Golden".

Excitedly working on a new solo album. Just finished day 2 (12 straight hours). There's about 4 songs that already sound way better than I ever imagined. This is one of them. "Coney Island", not yet mixed or finished or anything.
A little number I wrote about Jared Cheek back when he ran Village Green Records in Muncie. He had a bad girlfriend that was sucking the soul out of him. I had heard a bootleg recording of Dylan playing Forever Young with just vocals and guitar and thought it was the greatest thing I had ever heard. Well, Cheek was sort of like an old man, like your favorite grampa, and I didn't want him to change either.
THIS LAND IS YOUR LAND in front of about 5 people in a tiny coffee shop in Irvington/Indianapolis in the winter of 07.
Worried Blues. Borrowed from many musicians. The slow tempo is mostly taken from Minneapolis' THE FLOOR BIRDS (RIP). I put this on Texasville, which was my sequel to The Last Picture Show.
SHE DOES IS MAGIC recording of TEENAGE KICKS by THE UNDERTONES.
"Second-hand lover" from my SMITHVILLE album. Which was a part of a trilogy of albums named after Terrence Malick films...Smithville being the town where Tree Of Life was partly shot. Badlands and Days of Heaven were the other two. The chords were inspired by listening to a lot of Nick Drake and the over all sound probably was an Owen influence. I was a little bitter during the making of this. The sound clip is from Hannah and Her Sisters... one of my favorite Woody Allen movies.
"Reno/Tahoe" from the soon to be released Noise, Idaho project O' COURAGE. 20 tracks in all. On most I experimented with the loop record pedal. I used 2 sound clips from 2 very different movies to touch on one certain subject "To hurt is to live".
"Never Meant to Be" from my COVERS album done casually in 2006. It's a Denison Witmer song with Damien Jurado lyrics in the end. Recorded during the THE LAST PICTURE SHOW sessions. One mic - vocals/guitar at the same time (explaining the muddiness). I used to play this aaaallllll the time.
The Sharon Stone Diaries (OH BROTHER) - Day 6.
Hammer Down by Magnolia Electric Co., and me. I played banjo and sang the backup vocals. I might do an entire album like this. It would be awesome.
Written and recorded during the deepest darkest seasonal depression I have ever had in the back room of Village Green Records in the fall of 2005. I recorded a whole album of this stuff called Muncie Blues. This is the first track, Feeling Nostagic.
