Exactly how I feel too. Like...I don’t want to say it feels mean-spirited because I’m sure it’s not (she said in the intro she likes leaving space for the readers to use their imaginations, so I guess that’s what’s behind all the ambiguity?), but the Laela, Kamet, and Costis stories made me feel like I’m just being taunted at this point? It feels like, she knows how much people want to know what happened to them, so she wrote a few pages to say she knows exactly what but has just decided not to go fully into it. I wanted some answers from these stories but have even more questions. I almost wish I hadn’t read their stories because I’m so disappointed.
She posted the Laela story on tumblr months ago and everyone was freaking out wondering what happens because it’s basically a single scene that ends on a cliffhanger...so I’ve been waiting the entire time till the book’s release for the rest of that story to appear in the anthology...and it’s literally just the same scene with no ending? And we will probably never find out what happens? Why would she do that? The rest of that story was the one thing I really wanted from the anthology lol.Â
Also the second thing I wanted was news of Hector and Eugenia but apparently I forgot to specify in my wish to the book fairy that I wanted good news only! If she’s writing more that will eventually fill in these gaps, cool, I’ll calm down in five years when that’s published, but like...we have no idea if that will ever happen and she said she wants to move on to other projects right?
Also like, I did like some things about it! I love how Gitta’s story is set to work out for her and the Irene stories were cool, illustrations were nice, the museum info was neat, I’m psyched to make the almond bread and drizzle honey over it. So, it wasn’t all bad, and I’m glad MWT wrote it how she wanted it, etc. etc.Â
