Hey there! I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt here and assume you aren’t coming from a malicious place with this comment - and maybe you thought I’d find it funny!

However, jokes about a minority language - especially one that’s been suppressed and marginalised by English speakers for centuries - aren’t your jokes to make.

It’s understandable that Cymraeg may be an unfamiliar language to you, but next time you have a thought like this, I suggest you take a moment to ask yourself if you know enough about the person you’re speaking with and the subject at hand before making the joke. Chances are, you don’t - and that’s okay. It’s not your fault you’re uninformed about something, but once you identify that gap in your understanding, it’s down to you to fill it and to work on your ignorance.
