Wearing a traditional dress called a manta, Carol Dawahoya patiently submits to having her hair styled in a butterfly or maiden's whorl by aunt Hazel Dukepoo. Once worn by all eligible unmarried Hopi girls, the elaborate coif is now only used for special ceremonies.
