I’ve been dating my lovely girlfriend for about two months now and unsurprisingly, the amount of time I spend reading fanfic and looking at spicy art has decreased dramatically.

I am writing a lesbian remake of the 1992 RomCom the Cutting Edge, featuring a blonde female hockey player and a dark haired prickly figure skater. I’m having a TON of fun writing it.

I got a dark red silk robe off Etsy and I like to wear it while I’m writing because it really puts me into that Kate Moseley/Lena Luthor/Miranda Priestly/Pansy Parkinson mindset. I might have too many descriptions of how delicious anger is.

This could pretty easily be written as a super corp fic, but I never watched supergirl (just read hundreds upon hundreds of fanfics) and I don’t want to shoehorn in Lex Luthors and Lillians and Brainys. Vivian - the figure skater is an only child with a dead mom, just like in the movie. And Carrie, the hockey player, didn’t have her whole family die in an explosion when she was 13. I know if I wrote it as supercorp I could get a beta reader and probably a lot of hits on ao3. But it doesn’t feel right?

I might post some excerpts here. TBD.

Scene: I am approaching the front desk of my building at the same time as another resident. He gets there a second or two before me.

Me: 5’4”, wearing a hoodie that says “Live Girls Dance, Dead Men Float” and teal workout leggings. And Birkenstocks.

The doorman looks at both of us.

The doctor or something says, “Ladies first”

I look at him and say “I don’t see any ladies here”. Deadpan. He stammers.

The doorman checks and sees that the doctor doesn’t have any pending packages anyway. He leaves.

I grin at the doorman and pick up my Amazon order of mascara and replacement screwdriver bits.
