“…The angel.” Castiel was pretty sure it’d been a rhetorical question, but he felt compelled to answer anyway. Perhaps in an effort to stem the annoyance of the teasing, something he wasn’t quite adept at returning…or putting up with.
Cas sighed. It was somewhat hard to explain, especially in a physical language with far too few words available to be accurate. “How I look naturally would reduce your eyes to ash. Wings are simply the closest to how humans are able to perceive us. When you force grace onto a physical plane it must take a shape, it is only a fragment of an altogether unfathomable whole.”
He chuckled again when Cas spoke, amused that the rhetorical question had gone over his head. Of course it had. The angel was never very good at understanding when he was joking or not, and it amused him to no end.
As the angel went on, he sobered a little, honestly curious about the discussion. Obviously, he couldn’t see what angels really looked like, or have any real concept of what they were. His life, his experiences were grounded in flesh and blood, and to try to think of a living being as nothing more than energy was a little bit difficult to him. Still, it was an interesting thing to think about, even if he had to admit he’d never wrap his head around it completely. “Interestin’.”
