Arc 3 of Wings of fire has always been interesting to me because it involves so many cool ideas and characters, but so much is wasted or left unseen.
One of my favourite ideas was the divided rule between Hives, and I was sad we never got to see all the Ladies and how they're like. So after planning to do it for years, I finally made some design ideas AND character ideas for them, since they don't really have anything in canon, other than being "Wasp's sisters".
Also this only includes "current" rulers (so sadly no Lady Scarab, will have to draw her eventually), and lacks any royal attire since I still need practise with drawing that.
All that being said, the list of notes for these guys will be long, so that'll be under the cut ✨️
These will be listed in order of the dragons in the picture, going from left to right.
For inspiration I used what few canon mentions the Ladies have, as well as what their Hive seems to specialize on based on their respective universities.
•Lady Hornet - Hive of commerce - Blunt and irritable, but less aggressive than Wasp - No-nonsense attitude, cares about profits and efficiency -> cruelty shows in willingness to overwork her Hive's Silkwings
•Queen Wasp: Capital Hive and Queen of Hivewings - Malicious, cruel and resentful -Intelligent and deceitful, but has become more erratic and reckless with her constantly growing paranoia - Believes everyone is evil so the only way to survive is be the cruelest
•Lady Yellowjacket -Hive of engineering, architecture, manifacturing and designing -Wasp's twin sister -Matches Wasp with her bad temper and cruelty, but lacks her paranoia, thus being more "rational" -Enjoys power but doesn't share Wasp's obsessive belief of "eat or be eaten"
•Lady Mantis - Hive is the academic center of innovation (2nd largest library on Pantala) - Calm, creepy and observant - Talks little, but is very aware and insightful - Uses manipulation to keep her power
•Lady Jewel - Hive of arts and culture - Considered airheaded, vain and spoiled - In actuality is quite cunning, using the ditzy impressions as a cover to stay out of trouble - Compassionate and quick-witted, though has a bit of an attitude about her
•Lady Bloodworm - Hive of "discipline" - Known as the only one of Wasp's siblings to rival her level of cruelty. - Sadistic and cunning, she takes pleasure in shaping up future generations of soldiers who must go through training in her Hive's university. For their abilities, yes, but also to remove empathy towards Silkwings, which are used as the target practise
•Lady Vinegaroon - Hive of zoology - Headstrong, confident and cunning - "Lives for the hunt", in that she delights in hunting all sorts of beasts and has a collection of taxidermies in her Hive. - Her hobby and understanding of prey behaviors extends to the way she symbolically views her hive and subjects, a twisted sense of a foodchain, where Silkwing are the prey, etc.
•Lady Tsetse - Hive of medicine - Unnerving, inquisitive and cynical - While her Hive is dedicated to humane ways of healing, she is known to have her own secret projects and little regard for morals when it comes to conducting them - Mad scientist vibe, but more eerily quiet than eccentric
•Lady Cicada - Hive of agriculture - Levelheaded, Cicada isn't as powerhungry as some of her siblings, but the Tree Wars made her colder and meaner. - Doesn't bother with particularly tormenting the Silkwings like some Hives do, but has strict punishments for anyone who causes trouble in her Hive, hence Misbehaver's way - Wants to control any unrest in her Hive, needing the stability to ease her own mind
please help my friend!! saige is a black trans woman currently experiencing homeless due to an argument with her mother's spouse, of whom is extremely transphobic. she is currently sleeping on a park bench, and needs to secure enough funds for a hotel room and the uber there. anything helps, even $5!
After a discussion with @pmpwbrrs I brainstormed some ideas, regarding Toon diseases, so far I made three of them. Keep in mind that these diseases has nothing to do with Twisted Toons, it's a different thing!
ICHOR BLOATING
Ichor bloating is a disease when a Toon becomes overfilled with ichor and they may experience bloating, internal bleeding and in some cases popping. A sick Toon's internals overfill with ichor and become bigger in size. It happened A LOT during Toon prototyping and at some point Delilah was scared to come in contact with created Toons because she thought they were gonna blow up too. Treatment: Toon should drink a big amount of water to wash out the ichor from their system, sometimes stomach cleaning is required. In late stages there's not much to do other than to isolate a sick Toon so they can pop without making a big mess.
TOON FLU
Toon flu is not as bad as it looks, though it's very contagious. At some point, Gardenview center had to be put on a lockdown due to the global epidemic. Toon experience sweating, fatigue, tremor, fever and excessive ichor release (in tears, mucus and vomit). Water-based Toons like Poppy and Finn will vomit much more. Humans can't get infected, though it's not recommended to stay for long with a sick Toon. Ichor has a very strong chemical metallic smell which can make a human feel dizzy and lightheaded. Treatment: bed rest, hydration, warm food or beverages. It's similar to human flu and it can be treated with human medicine though it works much stronger on my Toons and can actually knock them out for the time of their healing.
That's how fast the flu had spread among the Toons. In only three days, all of the Toons were infected. Except the Holiday ones, luckily it happened at the time when no Holidays occurred.
TOON RASH
Toon rash happens solely to food-based Toons and Toons who have fur. Infected Toons experience itching, burning, or stinging sensations on their skin, they may loose some of their fur or hair. Infected Toons are aggressive and easily irritated. They might hurt themselves in an attempt to scratch the rash until it's bleeding. If the wounds of a food-based Toon are not treated in time, they start to rot. Treatment: ichor shot, covering rash with bandages, cone of shame.
