i HEAR in color
earth opens up beneath me
vibrant rays of purple and orange wash over the souls nearby
whoa. keep it together
the night is long
--
then act two creeps the crowd
into a song and all around the beats and riffs and synchronistic
rush of time and place.
--
finally.
we slide.
into home.
where all the sounds drape the air.
my ears clap into the present and I am returned to the concert,
where all the people
are in color.

A Burger to Battle Poe's
Short rib and ground chuck. Keep burger prep simple, classic.
Pimento cheese that melts into a perfectly functional hawaiian kaluha brioche bun. Functional, you ask? Yes Functional. The bread holds the sandwich together ensuring an equal bite of every ingredient, rather than a pickle-and-ketchup slippery mess. I like a burger or sandwich that can stand up to its ingredients and enhance the flavor all at the same time.
The winning proposition - unique flavors, each performing a function, "there for a reason." Chef says, "I wanted to capture that simplicity and put it on a menu with other coastal flavors." And as someone who actually got to eat the burger described above, I will go back for more!

beautimous birthday flowers from miss cooper while in Puerto Rico. Yellow roses sing of birthday spirit.
Bicycle Blessings
My parents sent the most rockin' bike gear to me from CA for Christmas this year. Several accidents into my 'bicycle commuting' commitment while living in Charleston, SC, it is apparent that safety measures should take an immediate president.
Fortunately, I am still in tact, all limbs in working order to date. But, alas, my bicycle needed an adaptable headlamp and rear flasher, a small detachable basket for odds and ends, a brrrrnggy bell to announce my crossing and lastly, a disco spoke light that projects mod moving colors. So excited to install and use everything. So greatful for the motivating accessories.
Counting up to 365
Today I begin an attempt to meet and define the remaining goals that I hope to accomplish by the this time next year. My 30th birthday will serve as an opportunity to button up loose ends, define success, and enjoy 365 days of reflection upon the fortune that has found its weary way to my back door.
I will accept and overcome the obvious limitations of my 29 years to date. I will allow the obvious gifts that blend into the wallpaper, begin thier journey to forever shining. I will begin the work of knowing where I want to be and who I want to be for the next 30 years.
I am anxious, just easing into my first goal for the 365 - I am doing pushups in between commercial breaks. Its cold in Charleston and the holidays are anticlimactic. I feel optimistic however, and the energy cannot be contained tonight.
List of unsolved problems in philosophy
Does this really exist in Wikipedia?
I am not certain what to make of this.

If you can eat soup year round and salivate for it, read this recipe.
Then make it for me. DONE.
Its back to the garden
Time to finally put my hands in the soil. I have put it off for months. My kitchen path-through a perfect way to ignore the empty pots and half-filled dirt baskets that liter my walk to the car.
Its back to the garden for me now that I am ready to work. Finally. Some promise.
VIsiting NYC soon for: a bridal luncheon, new nuptials w the gees, and a pre-10yrHS-reunion reuion. This is my grand entrance to the next mindful adventure.
How stunning is this Esther Williams photo? We paid homage to this shot and others in our latest stylebook, The Style Aquatic!

xo love for the weekend.
Talk about twirl-iffic! (via pettipond.com)
An obvious winner. For all the reasons all the critics are talking about.
OMG, I feel so lucky
Tonight is the first night that I get to hear my new roommate
practicing for the orchestra
We never met before this month but her presence cannot be missed.
Kari plays the Oboe for the Charleston Symphony and I
hear her practicing. Classical music is just unreal.
And now its real! In the room next door.
What a crazy connection to some of the greatest composers
come to life in my creepy, old, king, house.
More Meeting
Recent Sightings:
Met Mayor Joe Riley in the middle of Broad Street on a sunny Charleston afternoon. He looks everyone in the eye. His inauguration brought chairs and people to the front of City Hall in an unconventional winter.
Attended Stephen Colbert's Rally to Vote Cain. I found Cain to be slightly obnoxious to drawl on about inspiration. Would rather he stick to something that didn't IMMEDIATELY remind me about all the craziness that engulfed his campaign. His credibility in that department (inspiration) is lacking for me.
Mr. Colbert himself was a charmer scerenading the crowd with a rip roaring version of "This Little Light of Mine." He marched in behind the College of Charleston and Coastal Carolina Bands to Party Rock Anthem. Yess. Friday afternoon accomplished. The Oak trees overhead in the Cistern Yard watch the same timeline as our ancestors.
Anderson Cooper filmed a segment of his news show, Anderson Cooper: 360. Positioned off to the side of the yard, with Randolph Hall glowing in the distance, Mr. Cooper spoke to the Camera, to his guest and was razor sharp. The crowd, unlike earlier, paid him due respect and electrified his coverage with calm silence.
Whew, what a week.
I had another random person...
... think that they had met me before.
It happened again today, someone extremely random (from Baltimore originally) was certain we met prior to 8:14 AM this morning. At the college for only 2 weeks, he stood in my doorway and tried to figure it out - certain it would come to him. Nope, never did (because we have NEVER met). I can't help but wonder what number this is... person #182 that thought I was their sister's ex boyfriend's third cousin. I guess its flattering to be so familiar to so many people.
... then I just meet another random person.
