do you really think having a gun is going to save you from a fully militarized government though? I don't get It. I thought that's what crazy American rednecks thought lol
I don’t think full on warfare against a well armed and professionally trained enemy is ever something someone wants to rush into but in this case it’s not a matter of wanting to do something but needing to right? When fascists come to round you up, do you fight if you can or just out your hands in the air? I think it’s silly to go “Oh there’s no use so why bother.” Partisans had a massive impact impact on the fight against the Nazis and absolutely contributed to their loss, anarchist and communist forces made incredible headway against Franco’s armies before breaking from behind their own lines with infighting, Cuban guerillas were shoddily armed and supplied and lost more often than they won but won when it mattered most, and none of those groups was as organized or well armed as their opponent.
The US armed forces have also lost a lot of battles, and has shown repeatedly insufficient at fighting guerilla warfare, certain kinds of urban warfare, etc- they didn’t lose in Vietnam because the Vietnamese had better guns or better military organization .In fact most modern armies don’t fight guerilla tactics well because they aren’t generally as trained and skilled at combating them.
I just think this idea that it makes more sense not to fight than to fight an uphill battle is silly and defeatist and really relies on thinking the USAF are more infinitely infallible than they are, when they are held back by convention, bureaucracy, and career officers and their supply chain is more complicated and spread out than ever before. And the question at the beginning of this implies not really having an option between fighting and throwing your hands up- I am not talking about getting a governor you don’t like, I’m talking mass murder and imminent danger of being hunted down. Not to get too “Guns of Brixton” here but I can’t imagine most people would really look that in the eye and go, “I am perfectly satisfied with just hoping they go easy on me.”
