Straight to the antiques shop. She’d promised their grandfather she’d head straight there… She’d gotten there, alright. Eventually. Maybe a few hours later than she should’ve, but she was there - balanced and bouncing on the tips of her toes in her worn out Hello Kitty converses, and peering through the storefront window - her grey eyes widened and aglow. – She could see Abe standing behind the counter, and he looked pretty busy - as usual, despite the sign on the door currently read: CLOSED.
Dropping back down off her tip-toes, she turned away from the window and practically skipped over to the door. The tips of her teeth dipped lightly into her lower lip as she raised a hand, curled her fingers into a loose fist and knocked gently on one of the door’s thick glass panels. – Since there wasn’t any jazz or classical music floating through the windows, she figured Abe would be able to hear her easily enough. ( And if not, she’d just take a seat in front of the door and wait, in the hopes he’d pass by. And? Since she had a ton of snack on her - as always - she could hang for quite a while if she needed to. )
Silver. How the hell had he managed to come away from that last estate sale with so m u c h of it, again? He’d promised himself he’d cut that out, keeping up with the polishing was getting to be damn near impossible, especially now. But there he was, a polishing cloth and a necklace that reminded him of something Helena had worn back in the fifties in hand - his greyed brows furrowed.
Speaking of his mother, she still hadn’t quite bounced back from having the twins, so he was keeping the shop closed for now - trying to keep things as calm and quiet as he possibly could for her sake. For the twins’ and Gavril’s sakes, too. – No one was allowed in unless they were family.. hence his initial aggravation when he heard the knock at the shop’s main door. Before he paused to look up, he’d thought he might have to shoo someone away… but then, when he actually took a moment, he realized that he recognized this visitor.
In fact, he’d actually been expecting her to show up. Only, he’d been expecting her a l o t sooner.
❛ Well, look who finally made it. ❜ He mused quietly, casting a glance over at Gavril and the twins before laying down the cloth and necklace he’d been working with, coming out from behind the counter and making his way toward the door.
❝ – Hiya! ❞ Though she was definitely animated as she bounced through the door, she was careful to be as quiet as she possible could, and even had enough presence of mind to look contrite for being so l a t e.
❛ Hey, kid. ❜ He made sure to close and lock the door behind her before turning his back to it and making a sweeping gesture toward the shop. ❛ Glad you made it, ❜
Gavril looked up and grinned when he heard the knock on the front door considering if their shared grandfather didn't have the abilities he did in order to know his family was safe he'd be calling by now considering their visitor was supposed to be there long ago, "About time little dragon." The soldier said with a smile as he shifted the twins as he got to his feet. He had been helping his stepson clean the massive amount of silver the shop had and of course the twins loved to drool and sometimes spit up after feedings so he was wearing an old shirt and pair of jeans he kept around for jobs where he would have to get his hands dirty.
He was also only a little better then his wife sleep wise since he had been helping her physically recover and get enough calories in order to properly nurse two newborns and often stayed up with her during the nightly feedings and was the one who did the diaper changes afterwards, "We were beginning to wonder if we needed to send out a search party." He said good-naturedly despite the fact there was aways a chance that the California kid would run into the worst Manhattan had to offer. He shifted the babies again in order to give his tiny cousin a one armed hug and noticed she had a huge bag from a popular candy store on her arm. "And I see you've discovered one of Manhattan's tourist traps."
