Yeah... most of fandom's engagement with Kyle's Judaism is insisting that body shaming/fatphobia is the moral equivalent to antisemitism so they can feel fine about shipping him with Cartman. It's bleak.

I feel like a lot of people are uncomfortable with the concept of Kyle being Jewish and therefore refuse to engage with it is because they self-identify as leftists and have been told (and believe) that all religion (which they understand Jewish identity as, even though from my understanding it seems to be about a lot more than just Judaism as a religion) is anti-leftist and thus bad.

So because they want Kyle to be good (usually because they project onto him and see themselves as the good guys, but sometimes also because they want a perfect victim), him being "religious" doesn't work because in their minds, he can only be good if he's "pure"

I think you've hit the nail on the head. I also think this fandom has a subset of white queers who think they're leftist/woke just because they're queer but their politics/beliefs are really moderate/regressive when you start talking about Jews and Black people.

See: the legion of white queers who think having a "nazi phase" was a completely normal/understandable thing and not a red flag the size of fucking Mars.

I see myself a lot in Kyle

Anger issues, parent issues (in this case just my mom because uh my daddy is highkey DEAD but YK ), having an on and off relationship with religion

Because on one hand , as a catholic, I don’t enjoy the stereotypes they slap on them and how they think that if youre Catholic then you’re automatically a homophobic CHRISTIAN, and it’s stupid and it’s ANNOYING because I’m not even that much of a heavy catholic person. I’ll pray, when I’m genuinely in need of help, but I don’t go to church or anything because my mom doesn’t force me and neither does she do any of that herself. With that being said, I’m a Hellenistic polytheistic person too, I pray to the Greek gods as well, and that religion as well gets disrespected as does Catholics.

On the other hand I’m questioning my catholic beliefs and religion because sometimes I struggle whether or not the stuff they say about not praying enough or doing something goes against the Bible or something will make me end up in hell itself. Sometimes I don’t talk or have the energy to defend my religion fully because I don’t feel close to the guy I call god.

And yknow what yeah

I hate how they erase like. Most of his issues to only one thing only, just BULLYING but never explicitly saying in what way, just BULLYING

Real. As someone with a dead dad who was born Jewish but also dabbles in Hoodoo because of the other side of my fam, I get it.
