I don't find the person Rhaenyra becomes after claiming the Throne to be inconsistent.

She has lost so much and suffers deeply over every loss, yet she knows a Queen has no time for grief; a Queen must be strong and keep a level head. Unfortunately, the path she chooses to suppress and mask her pain is one of indifference or scorn (not unlike her own siblings, in a way).

And the deeper she sinks into sorrow and despair, the more she transforms into the very thing she swore she would never become.
