Shiro x Male!Reader Part 1
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder…
Trigger Warning: Mentioning of Domestic Abuse
“That was a beautiful wedding,” the white haired male mumbled as he glanced over at his own husband, he looked at his tanned skin and his gorgeous eyes, it had been a year since the world was changed, a year since he had fallen in love like this.
Except, this was all a lie, everything about his relationship was a lie. Shiro managed to cover the bruises with what seemed like magic, a fake smile and a gentle laugh. All the advice he has given his friends, his partners in crime, his family all fell under a horrible lie. When he was asked If he was happy in his current relationship, Shiro had a nasty habit of smiling and nodding, but he always had his hand behind his back, his fingers were crossed and so was his heart. His once open heart was now guarded by thorns, countless thorns that threatened to rip his heart into shreds at the wrong movement.
“Yeah, can we leave yet?” Shiro’s husband asked. To everyone else he was the perfect partner, he was kind, gentle, he knew how to laugh and bring up the mood of everyone around him, these were a few of the reasons as to why Shiro fell horribly in love with him. But like how Shiro placed a facade, his husband was no exception. From his gentle grasp on his arm all the way to the affectionate way he would go and grab Shiro some food or something to drink when he asked for it.
“You know that we have to stay at least for dinner, right? Afterwards we can leave, or else people would suspect something” Shiro stated as he placed his metallic hand on his husbands upper arm. With that, Shiro took the initiative to lead himself over to the groom and the bride of the wedding. After congratulating them, Shiro carefully lingered behind his husband as he waited for him to choose were they would be sitting. When Shiro saw that they were being called over by his friends, he tensed up and glanced over at his husband to see if that was alright. Since they were in public, he seemed more willing to let them both go and sit with Shiro’s friends.
At the table there were quite a few people. Lance, Keith, Hunk, Pidge and Coran were only a few of those who were there. It was painful to see them all, but it was even more painful to see him. He also looked happy among everyone else at the table. While he didn’t run the lions as Shiro once had, they were close, he was always hanging around Coran, helping out wherever he could.
His name was (Y/N), he used to be a successful teacher of physics in the Garrison, well, that was until him and a few of his students decided to deviate from their planet and go fight the universal battle against Zarkon and his family. While in space, he was surprised to see and rekindle his friendship with Shiro, something that actually formed into something… more. Neither of them acted on the active chemistry between them, why? Respect for the other. While (Y/N) felt horribly drawn towards Shiro, he knew anything between them would be impossible because of Adam. And by the time they found out about Adam’s faith, things became too complicated on earth and in space for anything to happen between them.
Shiro’s husband wasn’t aware of their relationship, their previous feeling for each other, the gentle flame that still burned between them.
“I’ve always loved weddings, especially yours, Shiro,” Pidge explained as she gently swiped her glass of blue liquid with one hand. Shiro’s shoulders tensed and he smiled at that rather forcefully.
“It was a wonderful day.” But little did anyone know that his wedding day was breaking him apart. Well, everyone except one person. The way he looked at Shiro was sympathetic, while he was unaware of most of the relationship Shiro had with his husband, he was able to see so much. After all, anyone could cover their scars and their bruises with no problem, but eyes? Eyes were the gateway into a persons soul, and that was impossible to cover up. Shiro was hurting and (Y/N) was going to get to the bottom of it even if it ate him alive.
