crazy how every mentally ill/disabled person i know, knows more about psychology than most psychologists i know
absolutely wild how every physically disabled person i know, knows more about them than almost every professional i know
its almost like they should listen to us or something
If you’re an alter questioning your existence: you’re real. Move your hands, sing a song, hear your voice, smell the flowers, see the world. You exist in this world with the rest of us here. You’re not a figment of someone’s imagination, you’re not simply role playing as someone else. If you were, who are you trying to act for when you’re by yourself? You exist. And it can be scary and confusing to know that you’re here, but this world has so much wonder and beauty to explore. You’re you.
This is mainly for ourselves tbh but;
Having a high alter count is OKAY.
it's okay if you're polyfragmented and have a high alter count.
it's okay if you're not polyfragmented and have a high alter count.
It doesn't matter if you have more brainmades over introjects and vis versa.
Because in the end, it's about what your brain decided it needed to help you.
HELLO I JUST FOUND OUT YOU DIDNT NEED DISSOCIATIVE FUGUE (LIKE FULL BLACKOUT WAKING UP IN A DIFFERENT PLACE) TO HAVE DID??????
WHAT
Saw this in the bpdmemes Reddit. I was just explaining my bpd emotional amnesia to my sister today.
It's okay if you're an alter without a name or know much about yourself. Not every part needs a name, and you don't need to come up with one to be a valid "part". For us, we have plenty of parts who prefer to just use the system/body/singletsona name. And similarly, it's normal not to know what you like and dislike. That all comes from living your life and being allowed to express yourself, and if you've been a mostly internal part or been masking for a while or for any other reason been unable to explore what makes you "you", then it's no wonder you may not know these things about yourself. Take your time, and in the end if you feel that it isn't important to differentiate yourself with such things then that's fine too.
Hmmm. Perhaps it was not a normal fear to have as a child like
"Oh god. What if that thing I do where I do stuff and don't remember doing anything happens while I sleep too and I'm actually a super villain!? Oh god! What then!?"
Hmm.... Almost like "That thing I do where I do stuff and don't remember doing anything" was probably some kind of disorder.
Reminder: Subreddits like FakeDisorderCringe are anti-system. There's never going to be any system, to them, that isn't faking. No matter what that system says or does. They're never gonna believe any system.
Please remember that you were a child. Your brain was that of a child's. Being traumatized will never be and has never been your fault, and if there are things about your system that don't seem to make sense, remember that "sense" here is from the perspective of a traumatized child's mind.
Your brain did what it could to protect you, and you do not need to feel guilty about what your mind did to survive.
"oh but my childhood/trauma wasnt *that* bad" i say, after proceeding to accidentally retell the most horrificly obvious traumadumping story while thinking its a funny memory
hate hate hate it when adults tell younger people they're "too young to experience (x.)"
pain, memory loss, mobility aids, and disability are not exclusive to older people. young people can be disabled.
im nearly sixteen, and i have a hellish mixture of scoliosis and kyphosis. on top of that, i experience amnesia DAILY. my back doesnt hurt every day, and my brain doesnt refuse to remember important things just for you to say only old people can experience these things.
Good night to systems who are still unsure if they are a system
Good night to physically disabled systems
Good night to systems with other mental illnesses
Good night to systems with cluster b disorders
Good night to systems who dont remember their trauma
Good night to systems who do remember their trauma
Good night to systems who vividly remember their trauma
Good night to systems who's alters aren't very defined
Good night to systems who alters are very defined
Good night to systems who are kinda in the middle
Good night to poc systems
Good night to all systems
This is a part one btw
You’re not faking your system
Habits don’t change by accident, that’s the whole point of how habits work.
Sure, singlets have different personalities for different situations, but their gender, sexuality, favorite colors, etc, won’t change along with it.
If you made up your alters for attention, how come they’re thinking in first person inside your head where nobody else can hear them?
Denial is a totally natural part of the survival mechanism. Gatekeepers or other systemmates don’t want the host to know about the system until they’re ready. It’s a lot to take in.
You can’t fake a switch headache.
You can’t fake vertigo from height dysphoria/mis-match.
You can’t fake switching your dominant hand/leg/eye.
You can’t fake pesudomemories. Pseudomemories are just as real as “real” memories, under the hood. It’s all the same brain mechanism. They’re just as impactful.
It’s normal for alters to have a lot of things in common. You already share so much.
It’s normal for alters to have a lot of differences between them. It’s normal to have different races, animals, etc. The brain creates what it thinks it needs at the time.
It’s normal for alters to change and evolve, just like “real people”.
It’s normal for alters to have a shallow or undeveloped personality, especially for fragments who don’t front much or only have very specialized roles.
It’s ok if you can’t tell who’s fronting right now.
If your voices sound super different in your head, but indistinguishable to other people, that’s ok. You share the same vocal cords, and you might have a shell alter acting as a filter.
Mood swings are one thing. If you’ve “always felt this way and can’t understand why you said you felt a different way earlier,” that’s something else.
Roleplaying with your systemmates in a fictional setting is a safe and healthy way to get to know them and to let them express themselves, especially when it isn’t safe for you to drop your external mask of pretending to be one person.
You don’t need to identify with everything on this list, or even with most of this list. Believe in yourself.
Please reblog and add your own!
your system is valid if:
you switch a lot
you rarely switch
you don't have consistency in your switches
your switches are always consistent
you have high amnesia barriers
you have very little amnesia, if any
you remember your trauma
you don't remember your trauma
you want to pursue healthy multiplicity
you want to pursue final fusion
you have a lot of alters
you have very few alters
you have poor communication
you have good communication
feel free to add on! <3
endos + tulpas, this post isn't for you
Idk who needs to hear this but you're allowed to have a wide music taste as an alter in a system. You don't have to limit yourself to just one artist or genre. You're a person, not a character. People are complex. It doesn't invalidate your system if you all have similar or overlapping music taste. It doesn't make you a faker if you like a lot of the same music as the host. People are complex and like a lot of different things, that includes a lot of different music. You don't have to limit yourself with hard lines like "I'm the alter that listens to Lil Nas." like no you can listen to other shit too.
Endos this isnt about you. DNI.
