compare yourself only to your previous self

Switching is like reverse deja vu
Youâve been here the whole time but you suddenly get this weird feeling like you donât recognize it anymore
Weird tests we use to tell whoâs in front
Imagine telling someone else a little bit about each of your systemmates. Who do you want to describe in first person? Thatâs you.
Look at your list of systemmates in Simply Plural or wherever you have a list. Who is it easy to imagine walking through the door behind you? Who do you struggle to imagine? That might be because that one is you.
Get everyone in co-con talking- take turns reciting lines of a poem, or play a word game like shiritori. When your turn comes up, where does your voice come from? Whoever comes from the center of your head is probably whoâs in front.
for real once you realize that you can actually wear whatever you want and call yourself whatever name and pronouns you want and have whatever interests you want and be whatever gender you want your life gets so much better and more fun

Whenever any alter is hyperfocusing and locked everyone else out of front
The rest of the system: Stop hyperfocusing!
That alter: I can't!!! I gotta feed the dopamine bees!!!!!
Ari: What if we came out as a system to our vocal instructor, any ideas how to approach the topic
Lael: "Dude, imma be honest, there's something I haven't told you... I'm a crazy person đ"
Ari: ANYTHING but that
Youâre not faking your system
Habits donât change by accident, thatâs the whole point of how habits work.
Sure, singlets have different personalities for different situations, but their gender, sexuality, favorite colors, etc, wonât change along with it.
If you made up your alters for attention, how come theyâre thinking in first person inside your head where nobody else can hear them?
Denial is a totally natural part of the survival mechanism. Gatekeepers or other systemmates donât want the host to know about the system until theyâre ready. Itâs a lot to take in.
You canât fake a switch headache.
You canât fake vertigo from height dysphoria/mis-match.
You canât fake switching your dominant hand/leg/eye.
You canât fake pesudomemories. Pseudomemories are just as real as ârealâ memories, under the hood. Itâs all the same brain mechanism. Theyâre just as impactful.
Itâs normal for alters to have a lot of things in common. You already share so much.
Itâs normal for alters to have a lot of differences between them. Itâs normal to have different races, animals, etc. The brain creates what it thinks it needs at the time.
Itâs normal for alters to change and evolve, just like âreal peopleâ.Â
Itâs normal for alters to have a shallow or undeveloped personality, especially for fragments who donât front much or only have very specialized roles.
Itâs ok if you canât tell whoâs fronting right now.
If your voices sound super different in your head, but indistinguishable to other people, thatâs ok. You share the same vocal cords, and you might have a shell alter acting as a filter.
Mood swings are one thing. If youâve âalways felt this way and canât understand why you said you felt a different way earlier,â thatâs something else.
Roleplaying with your systemmates in a fictional setting is a safe and healthy way to get to know them and to let them express themselves, especially when it isnât safe for you to drop your external mask of pretending to be one person.
You donât need to identify with everything on this list, or even with most of this list. Believe in yourself.
