Day 2 -Dawn of the Second Day-

These are formal shorts. In a Japanese office, they look killer coupled with black tights, black heels, and tasteful silver jewelry. In an American office… Well, we’re not allowed to wear short-shorts. They’re lined and made of wool, so not fun to wear in the summer. And I need a belt to keep them on. In hot weather, I don’t want to be messing with belts – that’s what womanly hips are for!

  And speaking of tights – everyone in Tokyo wears some sort of leg covering ALL THE TIME. Is it summer? Nylons. Fall? 80% denier tights. Winter? Heat-Tec tights, sometimes even leg warmers. Spring? Nylons again – or you could wear black stirrup tights. Even jean shorts and nylons! I think they’re allergic to bare legs.

  This is going to Goodwill, because it’s probably hideously out of style, even in Japan.

I sketched this out about an hour after it happened. I KNOW I was saying this correctly in Japanese because I’ve asked before without props or gestures and cashiers have known what I was saying. They haven’t even needed to ask me a confirmation question, they just said “no problem” and exchanged the money. I’m not sure what this lady thought I was speaking, but she sure as heck didn’t think I was speaking Japanese.

This always makes me super-paranoid. Is my accent THAT BAD? I am sorry. T_T

Still, someone once told me that a white person speaking Japanese or Chinese was like finding a dog that talked. You couldn't listen - you are just shocked at the phenomenon.

Thread.  Thread everywhere!  One sleeve is mostly done.  I’m tackling the giant block of embroidery on the other one currently.  This is of course taking me longer than I originally thought, but I’m trying my hardest to get all the embroidery done before I go to bed tonight.  Wish me luck!

Sometimes (okay all the time) I get confused by Japanese English. I was reading a new manga called “フェアリーテイルクロニクル” which is LITERALLY “fairy tail chronicle” and it makes no sense whatsoever to have to say all this in katakana. They have words for these things!!! It is such a mouthful to have to say “feariiteiru kuronikuru” please Japanese manga ka understand my second language troubles.

I have so much trouble with katakana. Like, even after you sound it out, it's still like... What word is this? Why did you spell it this way? The pronunciation is weird, whatever flavor of English you speak. Is Japanese not cool enough for you? I work hard on your language, and having you turn it inside out, reflect it, and then tell me to figure it out is just mean. "You're American! You should be good at katakana." No. No, it doesn't work that way.

I actually took 2 months off, and came back to two chapters at once. It was... nice? ...relaxing, maybe. I'm still not thrilled with the new plot, and if Levi gets bumped off I will not be crying - but I don't think I'm going to religiously follow it the way I did when they were dealing with the female titan, or riding out of the walls.

But I agree with you that a bunch of stuff happened in a few days, and maybe  for the sake of pacing they should get an actual stretch of time where someone isn't eaten by titans. But once-a-month slow pace is much harder to deal with than a weekly slow pace.

Secret Project Done! 

I made Satsuki in 3.5 hell-filled days (one in the hotel room) to surprise Mai. She was pretty shocked!

My favorite part are the tights, which were made by queenofspandex.net. ("How're my seams?" "Perfect!" "Every time~~")

While the corset itself isn’t something to write home about, they did also copy the unique keyhole that we designed back in 2009, and have put it on the front of theirs as well.
