Certain plants can purify the air taking out toxins or bad or stale air, these are some wonderful plants to keep around the home. 1. Bamboo Palm: It removes formaldahyde and is also said to act as a natural humidifier. 2. Snake Plant: It absorb nitrogen oxides and formaldahyde. 3. Areca Palm: One of the best air purifying plants for general air cleanliness. 4. Spider Plant: Great indoor plant for removing carbon monoxide and other toxins or impurities. Spider plants are one of three plants NASA deems best at removing formaldahyde from the air. 5. Peace Lily: Peace lilies could be called the “clean-all.” They’re often placed in bathrooms or laundry rooms because they’re known for removing mold spores. Also know to remove formaldahyde and trichloroethylene. 6. Gerbera Daisy: Not only do these gorgeous flowers remove benzene from the air, they’re known to improve sleep by absorbing carbon dioxide and giving off more oxygen over night.

living with upholstered walls has proven quite successful - starch has proved to be quite robust with no signs of lifting and bubbling. Granted, there are no kids running around, but they do scream up and down when they do come and visit (with no fear from me about the walls).
Putting the fabric on the walls is the easy part - it's the finishing that takes time. I've become quite nifty at measuring mitres and cutting the picture rails so they fit first time. It wasn't always like that. "Measure thrice and cut once" is sage advice. Believe me.
Pictures and paintings are hung using brass French Gallery Rods from the picture rail - that way the walls remain hole-free.
current project: cotton-based curtaining fabric (heavier gauge than the cottons I've used to date) hangs perfectly using plain old starch (mixed in a secret underground lab using precise quantities of starch and water and a special ingredient). The fabric is "Lattice" by Stuart Graham.

Parys Weekend Garden Cottage - a glimpse into the bedroom, the back wall is studded with colored glass bricks.
Parys Weekend Garden Cottage - the large door has a swivel-up feature to act as a shade-over in the summer months while allowing a large volume of air into the small space.
AFTER: inexpensive alterations and additions include added bedroom, en-suite shower and toilet, kitchenette, outside toilet and garden shed.
The innovative front door swivels up for summer shade - in winter, it remains in the down position while a third opens as a normal swing door.
The water trough faces the kitchen courtyard and is designed to cool down the space in the hot summer months.
The back of the building is sparsely studded with small colored glass bricks to allow the afternoon sun to bathe the interior with colored light without scorching the small space with heat.
