february 23, 2018 - the living room sessions, 9/?

hello friends! i’m super excited to announce that i have finally finished composing my original piece, “unravel.” a few months ago, i posted a work-in-progress recording, and i originally intended for this piece to be for piano. however, through my composition class that i’m taking this semester, i recently had the opportunity to work with an incredible bass clarinet and marimba duo called transient canvas. i was assigned to compose a piece for them, so i decided to use what i had, and i wrote for those instruments instead!

this piece consists of 4 sections:

theme - dancing through life

variation 1 - a little adventure

variation 2 - walking in the rain

variation 3 - home

yesterday, transient canvas came to my class and performed my piece for the very first time. as expected, a few mistakes were made since they were sight-reading it. nevertheless, it was truly a magical moment for me. they told me that they really enjoyed my piece, and i felt very happy and proud of myself. ^_^

special thanks to my professor for helping me record this!
