Heroes. Cowards. Kings. Monsters.
People who laughed. People who cried. People who died.
Again.
And again.
And again.
Thirty-three million times.
By now, he should have been numb. Yet somehow, you still surprised him.
The first thing he noticed about you was how quiet you were.
Not silent. Just… gentle.
The newest Coreflame holder had arrived with little fanfare. A shy demigod descended from Astraeus, bearer of the Coreflame of Space.
Most expected someone grand.
Instead, they received you.
You barely spoke.
You lingered at the edges of conversations. You listened more than you talked.
And somehow, most adored you.
Phainon first noticed it during a gathering of the Chrysos Heirs.
Mydei had mentioned wanting a particular Kremnoan sweet from his homeland.
Just once. A passing comment.
He forgot about it minutes later.
Three days afterward, you quietly placed a wrapped package beside him.
Then immediately tried to leave.
Mydei stared.
Opened it.
…
And laughed.
“Where did you even find these?”
You blinked. Waved.
Then disappeared down the hall before anyone could stop you.
It wasn’t an isolated incident.
Someone mentioned craving grapes. So, you found grapes.
A tired worker complained about broken shoes. New shoes appeared.
Castorice mentioned liking a flower she hadn’t seen since childhood. A bouquet was waiting outside her room the next morning, a small note in careful handwriting saying: ‘these won’t die.’
You never asked for thanks. Never stayed long enough to receive it. You simply listened, and gave.
Phainon found himself watching. More than he should.
Much more.
The way you usually communicated through hand gestures, the way you stopped what you were doing to listen to someone talk, the way you always hummed the same song when you thought no-one else was around.
He found it…
…endearing.
One afternoon, while the heirs discussed city matters, Phainon spoke.
Nothing important. Just a passing thought.
“…I used to like watching meteor showers.”
The room continued talking. The conversation moved on.
Everyone forgot. Except you.
Two weeks later he returned to his room after a particularly exhausting day.
A small wooden box sat on his desk.
No note. No explanation.
Inside rested a carefully crafted celestial projector.
When activated, stars scattered across the ceiling. Tiny meteors drifting through artificial night.
For a moment—
Phainon simply stared.
Because he remembered.
Years ago. An older cycle. A different life.
He’d mentioned wanting something like this.
Just once. Not even to you.
You shouldn’t have remembered. Yet somehow you had.
That was when something dangerous began growing in his chest.
He started seeking you out.
At first accidentally.
Then intentionally…
…Then constantly.
You never seemed bothered.
If anything, you welcomed it.
Not with words.
But whenever he approached—
Your attention shifted entirely toward him.
One evening all the heirs sat together within the bathhouse, excluding Anaxagoras, he would’ve rather ‘been burned from the inside out’ then join in the bathhouse.
Conversation flowed freely.
Stories. Arguments. Laughter. Noise.
So much noise.
Then Phainon started speaking.
Immediately—
You stopped everything. Your hands stilled. Your gaze lifted. You were focused entirely on him.
Listening.
As if what he had to say mattered more than anyone else.
More than everything else.
The realization nearly hurt, because no one listened to him like that. Not really.
People listened to the Deliverer.
The hero.
The symbol.
The savior.
You listened to Phainon.
And suddenly—
He wanted more.
A dangerous thing. A terrible thing.
But after thirty-three million cycles of loneliness—
Could anyone blame him?
It started innocently.
He invited you to meals. You came.
He asked you to accompany him through the city. You agreed.
He invited you to stay longer. You stayed.
Then longer.
And longer.
And longer.
Eventually you were spending most of your days beside him.
No complaints. No resistance. Simply existing.
Quietly. Comfortably.
The other heirs noticed. Of course they did.
How could they not?
You followed Phainon almost everywhere now. And whenever he returned home—
You returned too.
At first he told himself it was temporary.
Convenient. Practical. Nothing more.
Then one evening you fell asleep on his couch.
Curled beneath a blanket. Violin resting against on the side of the furniture. Completely gone in the land of whatever dream your body had conjured up.
Trusting. Safe.
Seemingly so comfortable.
Like you were at home.
Something inside him broke.
Or perhaps it finally snapped into place.
After that—
He stopped pretending.
Your room became permanent.
Your belongings filled his house. Your favorite foods appeared without asking.
Blankets. Books. Flowers. Sheet music.
Anything you liked, he provided.
And strangely—
You seemed happy.
Not trapped. Not afraid.
Just…
Content.
Maybe because Phainon never demanded.
Never forced. Never pushed, but he simply stayed.
Always there. Always waiting. Always loving.
And little by little—
You stopped leaving.
One night found the two of you tangled together beneath blankets.
Rain tapped softly against distant windows. The room glowed with warm golden light.
Phainon lay on his side, his resting against your shoulder, and one arm wrapped securely around your waist.
Holding. Keeping.
He was treasuring you.
Keeping you close with such gentle reverence, as if he wasn’t gentle enough with you.
His eyes were half-closed.
Exhausted, yet peaceful. A rarity for him.
You laid beside him, your drifting through soft white hair, carefully untangling strands. Repeating the motion again.
And again.
And again.
Phainon’s eyes fluttered open.
Without much difficulty, he found your eyes, staring at you with such devotion that you couldn’t even notice.
“There you are.” His voice was soft, almost sleepy.
You blinked, tilting your head in response.
A smile touched his lips; he found everything about you adorable.
We have gotten a lot of asks for team building advice for chapter 6. The most important thing we can emphasize is to build your cards.
Teams for story battles do not need amazing synergy in order to progress. The tower battles require you to do both history and alchemy lessons to build your cards because you cannot rely on support cards.
You do not need a team of full SSRs in order to beat the towers. Mod Furoido did it with only SRs and Rs from the permanent pool and you can read about it in this post. You can also check out the #chapter 6 help tag to see the teams we have put together for other people.
You can complete the towers in any order but I suggest you start with the tower that has your weakest team. Do not use auto if you want to minimize your frustration with RNG. If you have trouble with 6-66, I suggest that you either rethink your teams or build your cards more for 6-67.
Each tower has a section where you have to find the correct node. You can go back and do the extra battles for some more character dialogue.

Selecting and Building Cards
Story battles do not need amazing buddy synergy but having a little bit does help. If you are unfamiliar with team building you can see the list of recommended cards at the end of the post.
You need to build at minimum 15 cards for the towers. You cannot use the same character for multiple towers. You can read about the character restrictions here. You can switch the characters you pick between 6-66 and 6-67.
The cards do not need to be fully built but we recommend that the cards be at least Lv50 5/5. 2 ATK + 1 DEF cards is a good starting point for picking cards. I would only do at most 2 defense cards if you do not have a fully built ATK SSR card because you will very likely struggle for damage. High level defense cards or cards with heals/debuffs are good when you are waiting for duo spells to appear or you need more turns to end the battle.
Prioritize spells with have the advantage elements for that tower. Prioritize ATK cards, heal spells, and duos spells if the duo partner is on the team.
On the character select screen, it tells you what is the main element is for each tower. The main element does not change so if your team is well built, you can use the exact same cards for both 6-66 and 6-67.
In addition, before you enter any battle you can see the elements for that battle in the upper left hand corner.
Recommended cards
The list only includes permanent SSR, SR, and a small handful of R cards. If the card is not listed, it does not mean it's a bad card for the towers. You would have to check the elements and synergy with the other characters on the team that are not mandatory.
The ones in bold are the ones that we strongly recommend because they have strong spells and/or good synergy with one of the required characters for the tower.

Jade and Floyd Info Compilation part 26: Floyd's Moods (pt1)
Floyd is infamous for his mood swings (Vil says that working with him is “like herding a cat”), and they seem to even influence the effectiveness of his unique magic: Jade says that Floyd’s “Shock the Heart” never works at all when he is not in the mood to use it (“That’s rather hard to plan around, you know.”)
Riddle describes him as “extremely capricious” and Azul expresses frustration with the degree to which Floyd’s moods dictate his behavior in Book 3, but it may be out of Floyd's control.
Floyd does not apply for the VDC in Book 5 (despite being a fan of both singing and dancing) because he was simply not in the mood at the time and Jade says there is no arguing with Floyd’s “mercurial nature.” Floyd’s mood swings are referenced often, being a significant part of Beanfest and the reason why Ruggie does not trust him during Vargas Camp.
During practice with the basketball team we see Floyd shift from playing dodgeball to trying to teach himself how to breakdance, resulting in Jamil trying to excuse himself from the vignette rather than deal with him.
In the first Tsumsted Floyd’s tsum seems to exhibit similar habits: after squeezing so many grapefruits that he almost goes through Mostro Lounge’s entire stock its motivation has disappeared by the time a customer actually orders fresh juice.
Floyd explains that he loses interest in things pretty quickly, which is why he doesn’t keep a collection of anything, unlike Jade and Azul.
Riddle meets him during a low period in his mood and reacts with surprise at how “taciturn” Floyd can be.
Jade explains, “He occasionally has episodes like this...Problems and pet peeves have no bearing on it. My brother is simply an eccentric genius. Sometimes he can pull off spells that amaze his teachers, and sometimes he produces so little that they chastise him in their frustration.”
Floyd happens upon Ace and Deuce practicing magic in the school’s courtyard and his mood improves instantly when Deuce hits him with a color-change spell, with Floyd even offering to teach them how to do the spells properly.
Ace is One of The Smartest First Years and Here’s Why
(Contains spoilers for the main story, Ace’s personal stories, events, and etc.)
I made a theory on how physically strong Rook must be, so it’s time to go on the opposite spectrum and talk about how intelligent Ace is.
People often like to joke that Ace is part of the shared braincell trio. Heck, even I’m very guilty of this. But how true is this exactly?
While he’s certainly not at Azul’s or Jamil’s level of intelligence, Ace has shown multiple times that he’s very capable of lying and manipulating people. He’s also displayed intelligence in several instances.
Main Story
First of all, let me discuss how he shows intelligence in the main story. The very first thing Ace does in the main story when we meet him is trick MC and Grim, hiding his true emotions towards them until he couldn’t take it anymore and decided to make fun of them. He was able to hold up this friendly facade to explain the Great Seven to them.
In chapter one, Ace may have made the stupid decision to challenge Riddle when he’s just a first year with not much experience with using magic, but he was also the one who went off on Riddle repeatedly for his actions. Personally I believe this was a good display of his emotional intelligence.
In chapter two, he and Deuce help with catching the culprit and it was revealed that he was only doing it to gain Riddle’s favor so that he could play in the magift tournament. While this doesn’t exactly work out for the two of them, this still shows how often he can put up a nicer facade to trick people since this is already the second time he’s done this.
In chapter three, Ace is shown to have gotten the highest score among him, Deuce, and Grim. His score was over 90 points. I understand that this was mostly because of Azul’s notebook but it’s still quite interesting how much information he managed to soak up from that notebook in order to get such a high score compared to the other two. Later on, he distracts the mer-guard by acting like a big fan of merfolk and he does this extremely well. He got the mer-guard to talk to him and they had a conversation about the Little Mermaid movie.
And in chapter five, he was able to do mental maths quickly and told Deuce the total madol that MC and Grim would get if they let the VDC team use the Ramshackle Dorm.
Personal Stories
Now that we’ve discussed Ace’s actions in the main story, let’s move on to his personal stories. These stories are filled with a lot more instances of Ace being calculating and cunning.
In his School Uniform R Personal Story, he attempts to manipulate Trey into spilling the possible contents of an upcoming test. After his attempt failed, he tells Trey that his brother taught him to add a bit of truth into a lie.
In his PE Uniform Story, Ace says that he can see the hoop once and shoot without having to look at it a second time. Riddle says that he has good spatial awareness. Then Ace ends up proving that this isn’t a lie when he catches a magift disc that could’ve hit Riddle’s head.
Now for his SR stories. In his Lab Coat Story, Ace manages to pull a mandragora perfectly on the first try. This shows how fast Ace learns.
Then in his Ceremonial Robe Story, Ace got bored of the ceremony and decided to sneak out. How did he do this? He specifically said that he should grab another person that looks weak so that if they got caught, he could say that the other person needed to get to the infirmary. Then he grabbed Epel. While he was out and talking to Epel, he mentioned his brother and said his brother could recommend good places to skip out on. He also says that if he decides to take a nap on a bench and gets caught by a teacher, he could feign a stomach ache.
Now to discuss SSRs. First off, the Dorm Uniform Story. We see that Cater says Ace is cunning when he shows him card tricks. Ace reveals that he learned card tricks from his brother by watching him over and over and memorizing them. This shows that Ace has a good memory and Cater even says this as well. Then he had to look for the lost hedgehogs and Rook offered his assistance (after calling his aura pathetic). Ace managed to memorize some mole language, a language that’s level is beyond what most animal language majors even reach in college, after Rook taught him once.
In his Birthday Suit Story, MC describes him as pretty dexterous. Ace’s dominant hand is his right but he can also use his left hand to build a tower.
Extra Notes
The thing I noticed about Ace is that he doesn’t want to work so much. He’s shown multiple times that he just wants to have fun and not have to strive to work so hard. This was most evident in his PE story when Riddle said he’d consider choosing him for interdorm sports events and Ace responded by saying he doesn’t want harsh work. He usually seems to use his intelligence and cunning wit to make things easier for him or to amuse himself.
It could be possible that the only reason he made a contract with Azul was because he just didn’t want to have to study so much.
That being said— With how well Ace can put up a convincing facade and how he doesn’t want to put much effort into things, could it be possible that Ace is a genius but puts up a “dumbass” persona so that people won’t expect much from him and have him go through harsher work? He also isn’t exactly the type of guy who always wants to stand out, as revealed by him getting embarrassed in the Ghost Marriage story and his Birthday story. So if he acts dumber than he really is, he won’t stand out much and people won’t expect things from him.
Update: I looked into the magical archives book for Ace and noticed that the first things it talks about when it cames to Ace is how smart he is. If that doesn’t confirm he’s the genius among the first years, I don’t know what will.
Conclusion
Every first year has their own type of intelligence. Deuce is very empathetic, Jack has a good mind for strategic thinking, Epel learns pretty quickly and has his experience in the country, and Sebek is book smart.
But Ace displays multiple forms of intelligence and uses it often for his own benefit.
While Ace isn’t anywhere near Azul or Jamil’s levels of intelligence, he’s shown to have much potential. He’s displayed multiple instances of being cunning and calculative. While he still has done some pretty “dumb” things, that doesn’t erase the things he’s still capable of. I can imagine that he could possibly develop to have a lot more intelligence later on when he matures and if he actually made a bigger effort to do so.

Who was pleasantly surprised when he woke up the next day to the pitch black sky, the only sun you had spared sunken underneath the horizon - the first nightfall in forever, it seemed. It seemed his dear spouse had accomplished what they wanted to do. :)
Who became the opposite of pleasantly surprised when you came back with an elixir from a goddess named Xi Wang Mu. Pardon? You, his darling spouse… accepted a gift from a stranger? A stranger who had been there the minute you shot down the nine suns? He’d think not! (In accompaniment with the first day and night cycle, so came the end of the long lasting drought, as for at least a week, it had been raining non-stop. )
Who was aware that the elixir was an elixir of immortality, and thus decided the best course of action would be to hide such a coveted thing. Besides, the elixir had only enough for one person, and as a fae, he figured he’d lived long enough already. (Additionally, his dearest spouse didn’t wish to be immortal if he couldn’t be by their side for all of eternity. How charmingly human was that?)
Who was merely cleaning the house when he suddenly heard a loud bang - hm? The once clear weather turned into a thunderstorm of epic proportions once he entered your shared bedchambers, at the sight of one of your disciples who had broken in through the window, ransacking your neatly arranged room. How dare -
Who had seen the tiny glass vial in that thieving disciple’s hands, and immediately knew what that fool had been looking for. Lunging very inelegantly towards the disciple in an attempt to wrestle it from his hands, fingernails clawing against brutish fists.
Who saw that power-hungry look in that cretin’s eyes, and knew what to do.
Who didn’t expect the elixir to cause him to float far past the fluffy white clouds in the sky, past the many glimmering stars in the sky the two of you used to watch together, all the way to the moon.
Who yearned on the moon for you, his beloved spouse, so desperately, that Mother Moon had taken pity on the lonely soul, and granted him the permission to visit his mortal lover every year on the full moon of the eighth lunar month.
Your beloved husband Malleus, who had been patiently biding his time on the moon, waiting for the fateful day he could see you again. A reunion, with tables filled with savoury sweet mooncakes, colourful, lit up lanterns, and most importantly - your smile, greeting him as he descended from the moon. What more could he ever wish for? :)

I chose this one ‘cause it’s my favourite and I love malleus as a yearner. side note, this tale is often told during Mid-Autumn Festival, which as the name suggests, happens during mid autumn. so I got this done pretty early, if I do say so myself
