Dragon aging chart for Ficheall!! The way they progress and grow is completely different from humans, and very hard for humans to understand! Cass is an adult, but they’re also a toddler in dragon terms. All dragons end up physically the same age for their entire lives, after a childhood around 20 human years. Dragons’ way of life is incredibly different and separate from humans’ understanding, even though they look (at least slightly) human.
We’ve reworked their storyline a TON; Instead of being political rivals from neighboring kingdoms, Cassidy, Rhea, and Varian are related (by blood/marriage). In this world, Dragons age emotionally/physically at a VERY different rate than humans do; Rhea is Cass’s biological mother, but due to their species, looks to be about Cass’s age after about 20 human years. After fucking MURKING Cass’s biological father (who was a terrible very bad no good man) Rhea is free to rule their kingdom without Cass, the Heir to the throne, having to become King at age 6. Shortly after this, Rhea meets Varian, and falls disgustingly in love with them.
SO where does the context of the image come from, you may ask?
Cass and Varian don’t get along at first- the abuse Cass and Rhea both suffered at the hands of the old king was bad enough to really mess with them; Cass remembers desperately wanting their fathers love and approval, despite not having many clear memories outside of the horrible things their father did. They feel weakened by their youth, and frustratingly enough, feel threatened by Varian taking a paternal role in their life. This leads them to run off to war in order to prove themselves as the rightful heir to the throne, which ends up throwing Cass into the very fucked up world of battle for almost 1000 years, the first 1000 being very, VERY important to a growing dragons development.
So they’re a lil kooky now. And also want their big royal chair back.
Found an old USB containing a comic I’d written back in 2010. I had all my little scribblings in a tiny, red, leather bound notebook; which I’d held onto well into 2015, when I’d gotten my first wacom tablet.
At the time, I didn’t draw full bodied characters, I used the oldest version of MSPaint available to me at the time, and half the keys on my laptop didn’t work; but I was so damn proud of what I could do with it! Nothing could beat the excitement 14 year old Lane felt once they’d made their first post on deviantart, though, like a lot of young kids trying to manage comics, I only ever made it to 32 pages.
I’m still not a super detailed, polished artist as an adult, but once again I found myself wanting to draw my old characters, the way little me would have wanted! [Ps, great for artblock too]
So, lemme describe ‘NimbleStep’s Chance’ to ya:
NimblePaw was a young apprentice, born into a dying clan, out of wedlock to the one cat that was super NOT allowed to have kits. Still, not many cats populated the dusty bowl of WindClan’s camp, so their leader, BloodStar (best name in the entire world no other name could even compete r u kidding me??) allowed her to stay.
BloodStar had two kits of his own, and, seeing as his mate was deeply mourning the loss of their third kitten, they decided to raise NimbleKit along side their sons. NimbleKit was fully aware BloodStar and SilverWing were not her parents, though throughout the comic it’s never hinted that she minds.
The story itself is about the tail end of NimblePaws apprenticeship- she and her brothers, BluePaw and YellowPaw, are waking up bright and early for their final warriors assessment:
Excited, they split up to hunt in the small stretch of territory known as the ‘Silent Forest’, gifted to WindClan by TinyStar of ThunderClan shortly after a devastating war that had wiped out a significant portion of WindClan’s population. The land is difficult for the WindClan apprentices to navigate (as it’s unlike the open plains), but important for them to learn, seeing as it’s now apart of their home.
Up until this point, BluePaw, YellowPaw, and NimblePaw are written as the main three, in traditional warriors fashion, and are given the in depth descriptions main characters often received. However, young Lane loved to try and irk their audience, so shortly after her assessment starts, NimblePaw hears a deafening yowl deeper into the quiet underbrush.
BluePaw is killed off exactly nine pages in. I thought, at the time, that killing off a major character right in the beginning was clever (and when done well, is an awesome feat)- though with the skillset I had as a middle schooler, it was just... funky. I continued on to try and rush the other characters through the grieving process, which sucked, because that would have been an interesting thing to write about. YellowPaw goes from being a fluffy idiot to an angry asshole in like 2 frames and any character consistency he may have had was thrown out the window. The rest of the pages I’d finished were mostly filled with arguments between Yellow and hid dad, with VERY little NimblePaw content or importance. YellowPaw takes over as the MAIN main character, and each page is basically an angsty hate letter.
The comic was more of a place for me to vent my frustrations- arguments with my own dad spawned arguments between YellowPaw and BloodStar, slowly turning him into a self insert, comfort character. It’s interesting to look at- and makes me go ‘oh wow yeah I was totally having gender envy’ after seeing how obsessed I was with drawing him and him alone. Art like this is my BREAD AND BUTTER because it can tell you so much about your style: I still draw eyes with simple, rounded shapes and the exact same eye shines, I still draw a lot of side profiles, and I STILL can’t write dialog. I was sad when I thought these pages were lost forever, and am glad I found them again!
In the end, I learned writing comics is hard, and that no matter what kind of digital artist you are, we all used the spraycan tool for black shading at some point.
I’m loving what you’ve got for the SquirrelCrow AU so far! Quick question: does Brambleclaw takes Ashfur’s role, or is Ashfur still an unfortunate presence in the story like he is in canon, except now Squirrelflight has two jerks to deal with?

BrambleClaw DOES pose to be an asshole, but he isn't obsessed with SquirrelFlight what-so-ever; in this Au, they never get involved romantically, and Bramble is more jealous over SquirrelFlight's ability to break the code and avoid being punished than anything else. He is frustrated by the clans love for her, and their original distain for him, despite him being the least guilty of doing harm out of the both of them.
AshFur still takes advantage of the fire scene, and traps the three + breezeson and squirrel in the woods. CrowFeather is there this too, and as there is no secret to spill, they end up trying to fight their way out. Squirrel and AshFur take a tumble into the flames, and while Ashfur is killed by the fire, Squirrel walks away; alive, but burned in some places.
Breeze is deeply hurt by this, as Ashfur was his mentor, and while their relationship was very unhealthy, he still followed him around and spent moons at his side. HollyLeaf's moral crisis comes later, when BrambleClaw causes a fuss at the gathering over half-clan cats, causing all the eyes of every cat in the clans to fall onto her and her family. BrambleClaws purpose in this AU is to be HollyLeafs moment of truth, where BreezePelts is AshFurs.
BrambleClaw's emotional growth is deeply stunted and it takes him a lot longer to get over his feelings about his tigerblood than in canon. He ALSO does not rise to deputyship, though he does nearly let FireStar die in the foxtrap- and Fire can smell the hesitation on him. FireStar loves his apprentice, but sees BrambleClaw needs more time to grow up/accept himself, and makes SandStorm his deputy.

Lets talk about BrambleClaw; he doesn’t officially pair up with squirrelflight whatsoever in this telling, though he does still go on the journey and become apart of that squad. He originally finds himself frustrated with Squirrelpaw and CrowPaw, as their banter and fighting annoys the shit out of him, an despite all they’ve gone through, he does hold a bit of annoyance in his heart for CrowFeather after the journey is over.
Since SquirrelFlight isn’t as present in his life as she would be if she were his mate, BrambleClaw spends more time with his brother and manipulative ghost dad. He knows this is wrong, and doesn’t really give himself over to Evil, but he does end up being somewhat shittier than he already is. He is deeply envious of the way CrowFeather fits in with the ‘royal family’ that is the firefam, where as he had to work extra hard to not be seen as someone dangerous due to his lineage. Similarly, he is angered by how doted on the SquirrelCrow kids are; the do receive hate for their halfclan blood, but are, for some reason, quick to love, where as he and his sister faced scrutiny for years after TigerStars death.
He is especially enraged by JayPaw, an apprentice punished by StarClan to have no sight, being sported around as if he’s actually going to be a warrior someday. BerryPaw adopts this attitude too, as he is still Brambles apprentice, which kickstarts Berry and Jays rivalry.
CrowFeather is quick to defend his son.

This is CloverSnap, my warriorsona! A DFAB They/Them atrocity with paws.
Most SkyClanners assumed CloverSnap would take over the role of deputy the moment their leader made them their personal apprentice- though no one expected CloverSnap to ascend to power so soon. With little time to react or prepare themselves, CloverSnap was quickly given an apprentice and put in charge of organizing the entirety of camp, causing them to finish growing up with little sleep and a lot of responsibilities. This makes CloverSnap a very strong, capable deputy, but also a childish, nearsighted one.
CloverSnap was born to a young SkyClan warrior and her flakey longer mate, who disappeared shortly after. Their mother would go one to become mates with CloverSnaps predecessor, a large, stoic tom who’d held the deputy position for many years; having three total litters after them. CloverSnap has eight younger siblings, though they are particularly close with ViperFang, the eldest from their mothers second litter. ViperFang was also considered a very capable warrior, and is her fathers spitting image; making her yet another ideal candidate for deputyship. CloverSnap often goes to ViperFang for council when they are unsure about which actions to take.
Fun Facts:
-CloverSnap will stress eat during the worst of times; anything that moves and breathes is fair game, including bugs.

-Despite their baby face and lighter voice, has in fact committed war crimes and will do it again without remorse
-Was the kind of kit to enjoy elder’s stories rather than playtime
-Was a rather skittish apprentice, though they worked very hard to keep up and make their mentor, the SkyClan leader, proud
-Lived their young life knowing they would one day have to take on a position of power, which made them arrogant at times; though their air of nobility was cut short the moment they were thrown into the position
I just found your blog- And I feel like as a general vibe your Warriorsona would be like a super hard-working type, like the cat that everyone assumes is going to be deputy.
Or like- a med cat that everyone seriously respects and if they weren't a med cat they would def be considered for deputy.
I definitely feel as far as clans go that you'd be a Riverclan cat (Your fish au stuff is so detailed, and cool btw)
And as for names, and appearance I def feel like you'd be named Sunfin, or like- Sunfern for an alternate name. A dark golden tabby cat with blue eyes. ☺

I 1000% VIBE WITH RIVERCLAN TOO and im so glad u like my fishy au i am indeed sobbing HOWEVER i will be going with skyclan because i got it on all the warrior cats quizzes i took and also i cannot swim and deeply fear the ocean- 10/10 would be a drypaw (A GREAT TERM FROM RIVERCLAN LORE YALL FORGET)
