@anonymous - thanks for the Oahk lesson! Fixed it.
@openamenta ?
What's your job?
No, see, if I answered that it would narrow down the options for my caste to about 2, and people would guess one or the other, and I’d have to either lie or give in and tell them the answer. And I’d rather not do either of those.
Instead, I’ll tell you some of the skills my job requires:
time management
communication skills
creativity
procedural memory
episodic memory
patience and determination
flexibility
basic computer skills
If anyone can guess the answer from that, I’ll be impressed. If you’re thinking “wow, that sounds like it could be a job from any caste!” then good, I made my point.
if I answered that it would narrow down the options for my caste to about 2
That makes me think it’s more likely that you’re red. [Red and purple] and [red and orange] both have many jobs that overlap, since red jobs include any work for other reds. [Purple and orange] very rarely overlap.
[ ] being used for readabily, no special meaning
I’m not sure that this entirely follows. Even if there were no purple and orange jobs, if @reject-your-reality is in a job that could be red work or purple work, then he could still be purple, and if he’s in a job that could be red work or orange work, then he could still be orange.
Assuming that your interpretation of his post is correct, then it is possible to conclusively eliminate any job that is exclusively orange, exclusively red, or exclusively purple (or overlaps only with other castes). However, while I don’t have the exact job statistics available, I suspect that it actually eliminates a higher proportion of red people than other people, because, for instance, red construction workers are only building houses other red people, while purple construction workers are also building houses for every non-red caste (except in places where construction is grey work, obviously).
If we pretend for visualization purposes that the world is made of 10000 people and that there has to be one construction worker for every twenty-five people, then there are 50 red people and 5100 purple people. (It’s my understanding that houses in red areas are typically built by red people, but I could be misremembering). However, only two of the red people are construction workers (4%), while 398 purple people are construction workers (7.8%). The same logic follows for other jobs – while red people are only doing inwork for their own caste, orange and purple people need to do their jobs for every other caste. The difference is actually more pronounced for orange jobs, since there are fewer orange people – if you replace “construction worker” with “teacher” in the example above, you end up with 44% of orange people being teachers. (Since not everyone is in school, this is obviously not the case.)
Furthermore, there are a few jobs that overlap between orange and purple, which I don’t think you’re fully considering. For instance, animal handling, although relatively rare, has some overlap. Furthermore, company owning, which is a more common job, is orange if the company is related to orange work and purple if it’s related to purple work.

Sex Workers actually use all those skills!
(Despite what people sometimes think.)
Even computer skills, I’m still getting used to how you all have Silver Nights here. But though it may be more convenient, it still takes some computer knowlege to set up and maintain an account. And of course the sex worker I know who have built themselves a website from scratch have to be even more knowlegeable.
(and what physical activity doesn’t have creativity and procedural memory?)
So we’re filming on-site in Iltan! Which is incredibly beautiful.
I’ll have to post some pictures later.
Oh, and before anybody asks, all of the pictures in the last post are from the first part, which is already out! So I’m not breaking any part of my contract in showing them. I know that stuff is serious business, and I treat it as such.
But we’re still working on film 2, so I’m still around, still in the same area. Which is great because it’s pretty nice here atm.
So... wow.
We’re working on this film based on this person from early Anitami history. It takes place in one of the small feudal states before Anitam was even a unified nation, and is based on the story of Janoa, a (untrained) young woman who managed to get together a cross-caste army (!) to get rid of the empire that would later become the Oahkar Empire (not much has changed in Oahk in the last few hundred years has it?), who had invaded them a couple of decades earlier.
She was a young purple girl, it’s far enough back that we can’t honestly pin down an age, but she would have been somewhere around 4 or 5 when she started leading the revolution. And a farm purple, although this was before the castes were so sorted out the way they are now, so she must have had a orange family member in there somewhere giving her that truly unfortunate hair color. I think they played up how fucked up her hair color looks to emphasize the underdog story. ...So this was one of the feudal kingdoms where they thought of the fluxes and flows of the Elements as coming together in some sort of nebulous “creator” who shaped the world like a clay pot, and at some point Janoa began “hearing” the voice of the creator and that voice encouraged her to free her city by rebellion.
Anyway, so whenever she has a particularly inspired piece of leadership you can see the blue effect. Now, I’m really not too fond of the way whenever she shows an inspired piece of leadership her hair goes blue, like shown in the pictures. That has some really... unfortunate implications and isn’t really great low-caste representation. I mean, the elements know how many times when I’ve done something really good looking, the people who know I’m mixed will nod and say “makes sense, it must be your green grandfathers influence” rather than admit that their view of greys might be just a tiny bit narrow. As if my cousins all have aluminum between the ears.
But on the other hand... the way they make the effect is just... genius. It involves a whole setup of lights and a special coating on the hair. And it’s honestly moving as fuck. Especially the parts where it’s clear that she doesn’t quite understand how people are seeing her... I was crying a little through large chunks of the movie, ok?
(And yes, I also had fun making the cloak off to the left, also worked on the clothes and padding under Janoa’s armor, but of course, that’s not nearly as decorative as it’s not meant to be seen. Ever. But it still helps her be able to move properly in armor.)
(Note: the original post (with the real Earth movie this is based on) is Here. I am only re-posting this because this is a RP and want this to end up in the RP tags. Strongly suggest you check out the original!)
Testing....
(let’s see if this goes through, been a whle since I used this site, and doing this on one of the smaller Everythings is interesting... especially in this van where we keep moving from signal to signal...)
Emaloh, if you’re reading this could you please “like” if you see this post?
Edit: thank you!
