so i watched the recent jarvis johnson gold video about people dating their ai chatbots, and in it he compared it to and poked a bit of fun at objectum-type people (for example the guy who married his ds). that got me wondering, what do objectum ppl think about ppl having romantic and/or sexual relationships with chatgpt or whatever ai chatbot of choice?

personally i think it's a completely separate thing entirely.

i have a lot of thoughts about generative AI and the harm it spreads throughout the environment, so i'm extremely biased against chatbots in general. i'll try to focus on the emotional aspects of it all but just know that i can't kill the thought that chatgpt and alike should burn and die out lmao

with the perspectives i've seen from people dating chatbots, they seem to use it as a replacement for human connection-in some cases it seems like these people genuinely view their chatbots as their own person, plus it's common for language models to encourage any and all things the user talks about with very little pushback. the combination of the two can, in my opinion, lead to damage in the way these people view the humans around them. if nobody is as [seemingly] caring and supportive as an AI chatbot whom they view as a partner, how easy is it to still maintain human friendship and relationships?

the way in which i as an objectum person see the objects of my affection is entirely removed from my feelings about people. i'm aware of the fact that these things are inanimate, and they weren't designed to convince me that they have thoughts and feelings. sure it makes it more endearing if the objects have quirks and personal charm, but it doesn't compare to a chatbots fleshed-out ability to form an imitation of a human personality. i like the objects i like because of their shape, texture, feeling, sound or what have you, not because they talk to me and tell me i'm awesome and epic.

tldr i don't view my affection towards objects as a replacement for necessary human connection, while people dating AI chatbots are probably more susceptible to.

It's the term I "grew up with" and learned to identify as. At least here, it means the same as being objectum. But even if you look for objectophilia on English Wikipedia, you will find the definition that also describes objectum sexuality, with a focus on romantic love and seeing objects as full fledged partners.

I've seen multiple people here say that objectophilia is different from being objectum and refers to purely sexual desire, and that is simply not true - at least not everywhere.
