i’ll make a longer post abt this once it’s not midnight But… a girl’s only raven cycle AU wouldn’t Be as simple as just gender swapping the raven Boys Bc the dynamics of girlhood are so insane and complex like… it would add a whole new level of fucked up to adam’s jealousy/obsession with gansey (lowkey adam and ganseys friendship is very girl-coded which again i won’t get into rn) and also would change sooo much about how ronans character is perceived Bc like… he does this exaggerated macho thing But if he was a girl would he still do the hypermasculine thing and just Be a scary Butch (hot) or would his character have to Be adapted to perform hyperfemininity as a shield instead. genuinely the only character i can see Being unchanged By gender roles is noah Bc he lowkey fulfills no masculine gender norms during the series except kissing Blue i guess But honestly the whole Bestfriend’s kissing as practice is girl sleepover Behavior too. more on this later But do u see what i mean. you’d have to adapt their characters to the dynamics of female friendships not just change ganseys name from richard to rachel

finally getting around to reading greywaren and wtf do u mean ronan only remembered who he was in that dream space when he saw jordan’s painting of declan and remembered his brothers?????? what do u mean he was trapped with no knowledge of himself or what anyone or anything meant to him but he remembered his brothers out of everything and it reminded him that he was ronan lynch and he had two brothers who he loved. bc he could forget himself but how could he ever forget his brothers?

the thing about ronan lynch is that he's so lonely. the only dreamer he knows, the only gay kid. when given the chance he dreams brothers and birds and brydes and little orphan girls. friends. companions. things made for loving no matter how difficult they can be. you are made of dreams and this world is not for you. he's not alone. not anymore. there's always going to be a part of him that's lonely. but he's so surrounded by love now.

After finishing the Dreamer Trilogy I'm suddenly struck by the fact that fans who have only read TRC must see declan wildly differently. They don't even know. They don't know he texted the love of his life (a dream) that she was the story he chose for himself, before murdering an entire building of people to try to get his brother back. They don't know how badly Declan wanted to be a son again, a kid again, to let someone else carry this, carry him. They don't even know that Declan loved Ronan, so Ronan lived. IF DECLAN HAS ZERO FANS IM DEAD!!!!

I love the differences between how bluesey and pynch love each other

Like bluesey is so biological, licking your spit off of a spoon, staring longingly at collar bones, hugging you into my jacket and trying to become one physical form.

Whereas pynch is so spititual. The first time i saw you, i prayed to god and said "please", i lost myself to magic and the one tie to reality i had left was you, actually transcending space and time for one another.

They're insane, and it's beautiful.

might be the best first kiss ever. i don't know man it changed my life. it's the way adam was recalling one of the worst memories of his childhood before ronan came into the room but then he was kissed and thought about that stormy day, it's the way ronan still knocked on the door to announce he was coming in even if it was his own bedroom, it's the light, it's the way it was ronan's eighteenth birthday and he was happy and laughing even if it was a good bye day, it's the way ronan kept his eyes closed long after the kiss was over, it's about letting the rain fall on you, it's about adam realising there's things he doesn't want to run away from, it's about both their past and present existing at the same time in this room, it's about how adam was overwhelmed with tones of sensations that day he didn't understand, it's about home, it's about silence, it's about two boys falling in love, it's the way adam thought he was ronan's first kiss, it's about the intimacy, the yearning, the pain, the braveness, the fear. it's about love.
