In trb it was mentioned that the worst argument Adam and Gansey had had at that time was over Gansey offering to buy Adam a cellphone. They didn’t speak for a week and only stopped fighting when Ronan did something worse.

Headcanon: Ronan noticed them fighting and instead of helping them resolve it like the emotionally intelligent person he’s clearly not, he just made sure to do something horrendous enough to get them to be mad at him instead of each other

I don’t think the biggest issue in Adam and Gansey’s friendship in trc was Adam’s pride or their difference in class. I think it was that they never properly talked out their arguments. They just kinda glossed over it with something and hoped it wouldn’t happen a second time. It was mentioned in The Raven Boys that one of the biggest fights he and Adam had had at that time was when Gansey offered to buy Adam a cellphone and they’d not spoken for a week until Ronan did something bad enough to piss both of them off so bad they forgot about it. They didn’t talk it out, they forgot about it because someone did something worse by comparison.
