Letting you all know that I’m one of the very few people that haven’t turned they back on 2012 cus rise is out. I never will do that! I love 2012 tmnt. Don’t get me wrong. I love it alot. Hell it was the 1st tmnt I ever saw and got into (And probably yours too considering the majority of Rise hate comes from 2012 fans) But that doesn’t mean it was perfect and the most superior version. All incarnations have flaws and mistakes including Rise. Just because I like it doesn’t mean I think there’s zero wrong with it. (Also This post is about 2012 tmnt only, So Rise hater please don’t lose topic just to Jizz your “opinion”. I’m looking at you Smurfly whatever.) Tho with this saying. I honestly felt 2012 screwed over a lot of characters. So this is the post. Even Tho I don’t do these and a lot of people find them annoying. This is a top 11 post. Top 11 tmnt characters I feel got screwed over by the writers.
Yeah. I’ll admit something to all of you. When I first got into tmnt. I honestly hated him. I’m not kidding I actually hated Raph at first. I questioned if all versions of him are this terrible? But I was introduced to 2003 and 87
And they both immediately changed my mind about him. I love those 2 And are my 2nd and 3rd favorite version of him. I’m pretty sure you all know who my favorite Raph is and why
Anyways. 2012. He was a prick let’s be real for a minute. I mean. He was really a prick. I may not hate him anymore but he’s still my least favorite Raph. Even my girlfriend considers him her least favorite Raph. And that TRULY says a lot because Raphael is her favorite turtle. They weren’t kidding when they said he has the most attitude on the team. But they went too far with it tbh. There’s being the tough one or muscle or the snarky one or anger issues one and then there’s just being an ass. His remarks would be uncalled for, somethings he got angry about weren’t even worth being angry over, he apologizes in rude way or un sincere and then there’s the beating on his brothers. And Mikey was the unfortunate victim of that the most. Hell somebody literally made a compilation of all the times he was abused in the 1st season https://youtu.be/hmeSY5UBapw Yes some would be justified but a majority of it was for no reason too. Like in “Super Shredder when they and Splinter finished meditating. Raph slaps Mike right out of the blue. Like. THE HELL DID HE EVEN DO?! Were we supposed to laugh? Is sibling abuse funny? Did we reach a Family Guy level of low? Yes. Some could say ’‘Raph is just toughing him up” but do we really know that? He never said anything like it, I don’t think he’s ever apologized to Mikey ever? And when he isn’t beating the crap out of him why does it need to be secret? Actually why is it the only times he’s not to Pussy to show a soft side it’s either to his pets or… Her… A certain space Reptile I’ll get to soon. I get it’s his character but other Raphaels showed their soft sides to their brothers and aren’t embarrassed to! But oh well. Yeah he did have some good developing moments that I’ll respect and love
but I felt the writers could’ve portrayed him better than the asshole big brother.
Speaking of Mikey, I don’t really think he was handled that well by the writers either. Because they basically portrayed him as a dumbass. Sugarcoat it all you want but they made Mikey an idiot and they knew that. There was literally a commercial about who’s smarter: Him or Patrick
And it ended in a god damn tie! So do I need to say more? And there was times when even I found his stupidity kind of annoying, like I mentioned in 10. Some of his slaps were justified. Although I do often see this theory that he uses his child personality as a cover up to cope with depression and insecurities caused by the constant doubt by his brothers. And tbh. I love the theory and that honestly could’ve worked as canon!! It could’ve even been revealed and used for the ep when he became friends with Napoleon Dynamite I mean frog. Screw it their the same character. But nope. The writers decided to treat him like they treated Stockman and have him be a joke character you shouldn’t take seriously. And the rest of the characters couldn’t agree more. Infact. Other than ICK, Leo and Casey were the nicest to him! Raph saw him as a punching bag, Donnie just snaps at whatever he did most of the time, April fake ass, and even Splinter didn’t see much in him. I mean. He’s only intervened or stepped in twice when Mikey was being hurt, and Splinter also made remarks about Mikey whether Mike heard him or not. Not to mention no one ever shows gratitude towards him. He’s saved their asses alot and I don’t think he’s ever gotten 1 thank you! And after wards No one ever believes him about problem. Which I understand why because dumb character but still it got frustrating. I am Happy that Rise Mikey is treated equally again like his 1987 counterpart and Mirage. And hope they continue to treat him right. Especially considering they didn’t make him dumbass in this version. Also did they try to make him a player? Because 1 minute he likes Renet, now it’s Shini, now it’s Renet, nvm he likes Shini, STOP THE STUPID LOVE INTEREST ALREADY.
Ok. I know I don’t say or draw or basically do anything that much with Casey. Of any incarnation. But I love Casey Jones. I don’t think there’s a version of him that I don’t like. But I don’t exactly like what they did to him 2012. Role wise I mean. We didn’t even get to see his life outside the Turtles and O'Neil. We just know he has a Dad (No mom? Is this Disney?) and a little sister who we never even see. And they just pretty much got forgotten about throughout the series. Along with Casey himself. Like in season 4 he was barely even there at all. Like where has he been? With his imaginary Dad and Sis? Dealing with his own Vendettas? Dealing with another life? That could’ve been used. All of it. But he just started to slowly fade away from the group. Hell the last time we saw him Rocksteady I think broke his ribs. Is he fine? Donnie just brushes it off and thinks he’ll be fine! Which… Speaking of Donnie….. My god I’m gonna keep my cool with this I am. The worst thing they did with Casey was make that idiotic rivalry between him and Donnie. And the HORRIBLE love triangle Capriltello
My god did I hate Capriltello. I still loath it AND Apriltello. The only reason Don and Casey had beef was because they were both horny for April and the selfish bitch just never said she ain’t into either of them and just feeded into it! And it was because of this Capriltello crap that began more problems for other characters. Including Timothy. Hell I love Capril it’s one of my favorite tmnt ships but I don’t even ship it in this version. April is just too toxic and sends too many mixed signals. Casey could’ve been did better then what they did to him 2012. There was a lot of wasted potential.
*siiiiiiiiiiiiiigghhhhh* I’m sure a lot of you already know my feelings towards the 2012 incarnation of April. For those of you who don’t. I hate her. I hate her with a burning melting scourching radioactive passion. And they did do her bad by making her a Mary Sue in this version. I’ve explained all this already before so I’ll just be quick. 1. Love interest, 2. Gets special treatment never gets in trouble, 3. Whiny, 4. Surpasses the Turtles and Karai in a year to be a ninja when it took them they whole fuggin lives, 5. Has powers and is the strongest, 6. Way to much screentime and mention, 7. Bland, 8. Sonetimes cruel but it’s whatever to the cast, 9. Harsh backstory. 10. MARY SUE!
You know I can’t leave him out… Poor baby boy. Ok so it’s pretty obvious that Timothy was the 2012 version of that Zach kid people hated for some reason.
Only his name is Timothy now For some reason and he became the 2012 version of Mutagen man. Even Tho there is no Seymour or Gutz in his name. What were they planning with this guy??? Either way they did Zach/Timothy REAAAAAL dirty. For 1 they portrayed him as this big stubborn idiot. If they was trying to give him a Po (Kung Fu Panda) like Personality or whatever they obviously did a horrible job. Second the Turtles really treated him like crap! Even Mikey and he should be the last person to be putting down someone. Sure he was like I said: an idiot and a stubborn one but there could’ve been development with him but the writers choose not to do that. And instead out of nowhere have him become Mutagen man.
And crap out one of the worst episodes. And it’s both because of Donnie and April! Because he’s all sad about her not wanting him he never shut up about her to Timothy. Also. Also…. Can we talk about how when Timothy mutated he said he would make a cure, but didn’t even bother to start until Kirby got mutated? Freaking Apriltello man… Ugh. And then the worst part of it all. They freeze him and just leave him like that forever. And not 1 crap given from anyone or Donnie’s fake ass. I mean y'all really couldn’t cure him? Or make him a member of the Mighty Mutanimals like his IDW counterpart?
No? Well ok then! Sure screw this kid. It’s not like he had life or future or parents or family or anybody worried about him at all! Nope!
I’m Just gonna say this now, I honestly have no problem with Bishop being a Utrom/Kraang in this version. I don’t really. I also have no problem with him being a good guy in this version either. His original counterpart in 2003 clearly had good intentions to protect humans but also a pretty evil way in doing so that you didn’t know whether or not to trust him.
In the future he eventually became the President, made intergalactic peace and an ally to the Turtles making him a good guy once and for all. Also.
Cat mouth Bishop is literally the greatest thing ever. But he didn’t even make a bigger impact in 2012 unfortunately. Hell it didn’t take me until I Resaw the series and went on his wiki to see he’s only been in like 3 OR 4 FREAKING EPISODES THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SERIES! And kept getting his ass handed to him (body destroyed) in all except the Tokka episode. Bishop is one of my favorite tmnt characters so of course I am pretty dissapointed that we never got to see more of him, I’m WAY MORE dissapointed that he never got to work with Baxter let alone meet him in this era. I loved their relationship in 2003 and was amped for a 2012 version biut ugh nope! Cus again. Thrown away chance of redemption cus Stockman is just a walking joke to the writers. And Bishop just wasn’t important enough. Hell the last time we even see him he got his head punched off by a horny Raph….. Which… Brings me to….
5. Mona Lisa/ygthba whatever
I’m just gonna confess and and share this now. I’m not really a fan of Mona Lisa at all. Any version of her. I just don’t like her tbh. And I don’t ship Ramona. Her 80s counterpart basically put me to sleep because she was boring and her backstory made no sense and she had no purpose at all (other than to be Raph’s sex toy) she only appeared once so she really had no purpose. The writers of 2012 however realized that they never gave Raph a pointless love interest so they dug out Mona from out of the grave of the 80s and made this. I will admit. I do like that she’s somewhat more entertaining than her original counterpart, Being able to fight and having a much better and realistic design. That’s…pretty much it :/ problems are, We don’t know that much about her, Her and Raph got together in a very trashy way. Raph was Waaaay to out of character when she was around. Really like her cus she beat you in a fight? Karai and Casey and a LOT OF CHARACTERS beated you in a fight and you didnt go Goo Goo eyes over them! Why is SHE ANY DIFFRENT?! I also hated that she stayed on earth JUST to be with him! That Scooby Doo movie where Shaggy (our powerful lord) and Scooby fell in love with those Aliens, portrayed Alien relationships WAY better then 2012 tmnt did. Especially since Crystal (I think that was her name) and her dog actually went back to they own planet!!! Oh jeez I’m already sounding like my gf. She’s not a big fan of Mona Lisa either. Mona did get did dirty in 2012, and somehow a downgrade from the 80s. Also is nobody gonna mention that she’s older than Raph in both shows??? (hello 911) I’m being real when I say. I want to like this character! I really do want to like her. But in both cartoons she was just a Sue. If. If, Rise ever decides to bring back Mona, I’m PRAYING they do a better job with her then the writers of 2012 and the 80s did. Til then no thank you with the lizard girl and I’m better off with Raph being Single or Raplopex. Which reminds me.
Another character with wasted Potential. Truly. I hate that she was dragged in last minute and then never even seen or heard from again. Actually that’s the 2nd IDW character they did that to! 1st being Pigeon Pete! WHATS THE POINT IN DRAGGING IN THESE IDW CHARACTERS IF YOURE JUST GONNA SCRAP THEM WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF IDEAS FOR THEM?!?! The backstory didn’t make that much sense but it was still ok. Like did Tiger Claw kill your parents? Or what? And why is it just and only his fault when you were both stupid kids that- nevermind @loujitsus pointed out more with that weird backstory. Just see their post on it. I will say I’m so happy she wasn’t there to be someone’s love interest, thank god. Tho I hate how she was there just give Tiger Claw more history and backstory development? So instead of a love interest she was a. a. Character bio interest??? That’s somehow even worse! If your existence is just to add more character for someone else then. I actually don’t know how to express that. I did enjoy 2012 Alopex and like her. But She had more potential that was wasted and I think I’ll stick with my IDW artic baby

It’s No suprise whatsoever he’s on this list and number 2! I already made a post the other day about how poorly the writers write him and how the degraded him more and more each episode. Completely butchering him. I noticed they made him some weird splice of his 87 and 2003 counterparts and just… Came out as this! But the idiot writers didn’t even see him as a character instead they only saw him as a joke and nothing but that. And an even bigger punching bag then Mikey! Because literally every character hated him. Even if they just met him! And that’s just the icing on the cake: They also made his backstory make no sense and only used as comedy, use him as gags like getting his name wrong or throwing him in a dumpster or treating him like a teenage nerd that gets picked on BY EVERYONE INCLUDING KIDS WHEN HES 34 YEARS OLD!!! I’m sorry I’m losing my cool but I’ve just always HATED how the stupid writers portrayed Stockman in this version. Mirage Stockman did not die for this insult, 2003 did not get dismembered for this spit in his invisible face, and IDW didn’t… Actually he’s doing great but it’s still an insult to him too!!! And it irks me how whenever someone here’s Baxter Stockman they immediately think of this pathetic loser fly guy. Whether it’s his 80s version or 2012 either way I hate that that’s how he’s seen by almost everyone.
1. The character truly screwed over by the writers of 2012 Irma Langinstein
I will never for the life of me understand what the hell drugs the writers were on when they made this stupid ass plot twist.
Irma was a friend of April and the turtles and sometimes helpful ally. And I genuinely like her lonely ass. But the 2012 writers obviously didn’t! Instead of becoming a new ally and 2nd pair of brains so Don isn’t stressing with fixing things by himself, They decided to make her a god damn Kraang droid! And a Gilbert Gottfried kraang droid! I wanted to believe the theories that the real Irma was kidnapped but nope! There never was a Irma! And I know it’s been like 7 years but I’m STILL pissed about that. I even wish she got to be in Bayverse instead of April’s Roommate who nobody remembers (Admit it you have no idea who I’m talking about) Vernon got to be in it why not Irma?
Hell why not the whole channel 6 crew? I mean Burn and Irma both made it to IDW we just need Vernon
Actually why not have them appear in Rise? I already have good ideas. Irma can be April’s bff like always (if 2012 even counts!) Vernon the stuck up popular kid, and Burn is the principal or something. Or leader of the News club considering Rise April said: “I should do the news”. Hopefully if she does get added please treat her better then 2012 did. But yeah that’s my opinion. The 11 characters I feel got screwed over big time. Take this however you want but know I won’t respond to most of the feedback anyway. Especially if it’s pure anger cus you disagree with 1 thing idk.
