A Quintesson attack leaves Megatron in need of repairs.
Let’s pretend this takes place early where Megatron isn’t incredibly paranoid about back stabbing (Starscream) yet

I LOVE IDW Megarod. “He’s found his fire” is just… hhhhhhhng
Megatron absolutely found Rodimus outright ridiculous and frustrating at first. Try as you might, Rodimus has such a large presence that he’s literally impossible to ignore. But being forced to become familiar with Rodimus’s antics and having to work with him in close quarters meant he’d inevitably grow to know what to expect. And it would strike him that Rodimus is incredibly genuine. Rodimus genuinely cares about his crew. He genuinely wants people to be happy. For all his ego and self-aggrandizing, Rodimus is a mech with a heart of gold and no ulterior motives, and Megatron - who has so long been completely inundated in duplicity and backstabbing and political motives and self-centered survivalism - was drawn to that like a moth to a flame. It inspired him; it brought the idealist in Megatron, the poet, the freedom-fighter, the revolutionary, back to life. Megatron ends up seeing all too well why Drift likes Rodimus so much.
And to Rodimus, Megatron - at the core, beneath the trauma and the warlord-ing and the violence the war invoked in nearly all of them - ends up just being an unfortunately likable mech. He’s charismatic and well-spoken, sure, but more than that he’s thoughtful. He’s dependable. He notices things, often things that Rodimus is hoping someone will notice because he’s never going to be able to swallow his pride enough to say it out loud. Megatron doesn’t ask him to say it out loud - he understands. And, frustrating as it is, Megatron’s a good captain. Later, Rodimus realizes that it’s not in a way that negates what Rodimus brings to the table, but in a way that complements it.
I’ve seen a few fics compare Rodimus to Starscream in this aspect, which surface level might seem like the case, but it’s actually the complete opposite. Rodimus, like Starscream, has an inflated ego that’s easily bruised, but where Starscream is duplicitous in intention, Rodimus is honest; where Starscream is self-serving, Rodimus is always thinking of others. Megatron and Starscream brought out the worst in one another; Megatron and Rodimus bring out the best in each other. Rather than digging at one another’s weaknesses, they prop one another up. They’re best when they’re together.
All that being said, I don’t feel like there’s really been much fic specifically that quite touched on this dynamic as I feel it’d work itself out, weirdly.
Most of the popular art we enjoy is made in an industrial capacity.
Hayao Miyazaki did not draw every frame of Kiki's Delivery Service by himself. He has a whole studio of animators, producers, engineers, and other staff who animated, edited and distributed the movie. The "Ghibli Style" is not just something Miyazaki created out of nowhere, animators and concept artists, (who probably have their own unique styles) are required to work in that exact style because they are working for a project. I am sure that many of them enjoyed working on it, but it does not mean that it was not work, it does not mean that they might have their own ideas but they were working for the idea of someone else. Even the process of writing involved many people (you do know it was inspired in a book right?) let alone the process of distributing the movie. This is true for every animated show and movie you enjoy. Rebecca Sugar did not make Steven Universe by herself, Alex Hirsch did not make every episode of Gravity falls. They were very much assembled by many people, sometimes obeying corporate directives and animated in studios overseas that had little connection with the 'creators' themselves, they were just executing a job as per instructed. They are art, of course, but art made by industrial labor. Do I even need to post the picture of the Disney animator strike? Animation is an artform that would be completely impossible without industry, in tools and production.
George Lucas also didn't made Star Wars by himself, many of the things that made Star Wars so unique, from sets to characters to CGI to music and even writing were made by other artists working with him in things that he was not an expert himself. No director, in fact, can produce anything alone, but neither can actors, writers or engineers. Every TV show has an innumerable number of people working backstage, even the writers who write the best moments often go nearly anonymous. And speaking of writing, which one could consider one of the most personal examples, to publish a book it needs to go through an editor and it needs to go to a publisher. The fact that you have a book at home means that hundreds, thousands of people labored for it, not just the writer.
The myth that art is something that is made by lonely genius inspired by something ethereal is just as a myth as the lone genius scientist who discovers something without the help of anyone. This does not make them less art or less enjoyable. It just means that every piece of art we enjoy or otherwise, yes, even those that seem to have been made by a single person, has gone through industrial production processes, often very separate from an original "vision" or "creator", often made by workers who are not working on their own creativity but working for others. This should be discussed, understood, and transformed in many cases. But it does not make them less art.
Just to think about.

I’ve always thought the Niben River area of the Tamriel map looked like a Weird Little Guy. So I made him and I think I would die for him
Another proxy made with just toys. The child allowed it even. Ragavan is one of those cards I wouldn't play myself because it's just too effective. But you have to admit a monkey pirate is great.
