Luigi is at a socially neutral gathering, tasked with keeping villainous mischief in check, when

THOOOOM.

A large shadow looms over him. A massive arm slams into the wall he’d been leaning against, the impact reverberating through the stone, the floor, and Luigi’s body.

“Well, well, well. No formal attire for the occasion, green bean?”

King Boo’s tone drips with mockery. The strange blooms across his chest smell sweet, with a hint of spice, as he leans in close—close enough to invite admiration, distracting Luigi while cutting away the rest of his personal space.

“Smell that? That’s unfortunate. These pretty little things’ pollen tends to linger in the lungs.”

Luigi immediately backs away. King Boo chuckles.

“Oh, don’t take it as a threat, Luigi. Simply…” His tone darkens. “An invitation.”

An invitation to what? A dance? Joining him in the grave? Did King Boo stuff his chest full of poisonous flowers just to woo Luigi into dying, so he could serve him in the afterlife?

auuuugh ive been working on this for so long i had to bs a couple bits but it's coooool don't look at the border too hard

the single BEST enemies to lovers trope is when the villain, instead of being mad after being defeated, becomes obsessed with the idea that the hero is the only one "worthy" of themmakgg gets me every time and booigi is so GOOD for it

It’s incredible! They look absolutely divine in that pose. This is exactly why this trope is so captivating, just like you said!! Could you share a bit more context about the scene?

It feels like Luigi has finally been defeated and King Boo is satisfied, but instead of trapping him in a painting, he turns into a dramatic dance with those strings binding him. It really makes wonder what King Boo has in mind.

ohmygosh you have no idea the can of worms you just opened up auagsgauagahaha SO

this is kinda more on the metaphorical side (though KB is 100% capable of doing this and absolutely would) and takes place in a hypothetical where King Boo has to realize... a few things, but the most important one being "I want him more than I want revenge"

Wether or not he notices any romantic feelings yet, KB concocts a new plan, skipping the hostages and coming directly for Luigi. No poltergust, no bystanders to rally up his courage, nobody coming to look for him(at least not anytime soon.)

As such a valuable trophy and the new centerpiece of his gallery King Boo would go through the effort of painting the background of Luigi's portrait instead of just sticking him in there. He'd have to get him posed up to make sure the setup looks nice at least once, and mind control makes that whole process a lot easier. I envision it more like a purplish glow is applied to the fog that already surrounds boos, but the puppet strings spoke to me. And if he still hasn't grown a conscious or any guilt after noticing his romantic feelings, KB would absolutely start playing dolls with an unconscious Luigi just cause it tickled him a bit

However, if we wanna get even more specific about the wip im cooking up about this....

In the interest of keeping his hero rival alive until the time to hang him King Boo checks up on Luigi... far more often than he should and often for no good reason until he has to admit that he's actually just spending time with Luigi. All while using some minor suggestion spells to keep the poor guy from yelling his head off or flinching away every time he got near. How considerate?

Not to mention the day he gets framed hanging over Luigi's head like a guillotine, sharpened by KB's promise that if anyone did try to rescue him, he'd just go ahead and frame Luigi up to stash in safe place while King Boo dealt with them. Yipe

In my hypothetical, KB does start growing a conscious about this genuinely, painfully good man he's holding prisoner, and when you really love something? You gotta be able to let it go. Even though he's a bit of a spoiled brat and hates not getting what he wants. It's good growth, someone get him a cookie

But, of course, imagination is endless, and I imagine that there's some very juicy stuff in between King Boo deciding not to frame Luigi and not wanting to let him go

I love this story! Ooh, it has everything I enjoy!!! the tension and intensity in the atmosphere are so well built. You portray King Boo perfectly as possessive and controlling, while also showing that nagging voice in his conscience, that emotional sensitivity telling him “something isn’t right” and pushing him to question himself.

Dark romance (or whatever this genre is that pulls me in) excites me so much!!!!! ✨❤️‍🔥

I’m curious about Luigi. How does he take it? What’s going through his mind? Does he feel any compassion despite his enemy’s actions? And more importantly, does his perspective change once he’s imprisoned against his will?

^KB3 has a dedicated studio in his main mansion, plus similar rooms in all of his haunts and KB1's castle. It's... surprisingly bare for a guy well known to appreciate opulence and detail. He spends so much of his little free time pumping out paintings here, yet the majority of the pieces seemingly disappear? Nobody but KB3 is really sure where he keeps the art that never gets hanged.

KB3 doesn't like to socialize even when he's not at risk of getting chewed up by the realm's scariest princess. KB2 has spent too much time in a meeting hall with the Koopa King to see large parties as anything other than a prime opportunity for tomfuckery.

KB1 is the only reason either of his brothers don't fizzle out into an exhausted puddle.

They don't appreciate it.

i feel the endless pit of doodles within me slowing down a bit BUT considering how surprisingly popular these goobers have gotten i just wanna say, I love asks! Whatever crazy shinanigans Illumination pulls with a Luigi’s Mansion movie, I hope they find a way to incorporate The Secret Mine from Dark Moon. Despite being the most short-lived location in the game, it is to me the most atmospheric and lore-rich place in Luigi’s Mansion 2.

Plus, it’d serve as a pretty neat subversion of Bowser, whose strongholds and abilities tend to revolved around intense heat.
