β ββ βWALLY WEST / THE FLASH π COMICS & HEADCANON. β ββ βINDEPENDENT & SELECTIVE. 21+ ONLY. β ββ β( WRITTEN BY ANDY / 27, HE/THEY, MST )
Stop trying to get up. There is nothing on this earth that needs you upright right now.
βwally could only hope against all odds that, when he'd been clotheslined mid-sprint and knocked out cold on the pavement, he at least did it in spectacular fashion. but judging by the way roy was crouching beside him and repeatedly pushing down on his shoulder every time he tried to sit up, he doubted that was the case.
" oh, come on. you're such a drama queen. watch this! " was it unfair to dip into the speed force to escape roy's clutches faster than he could react? yeah, probably. but wally would argue it was for a good cause --even if it also involved stumbling over his own two feet and barely catching himself before he toppled over a second time. dizziness be damned, he had a point to make.
" see? i'm- ope, shit, my bad- don't worry, i'm all good, man! "
πΏfor dickie, ofcccc
it's not too often that he and wally are able to shower together -- wally is even busier than he is, being a part of the justice league, the titans, and taking care of keystone. (and donna gives dick crap about being a workaholic, honestly). somehow, tonight, the stars aligned, and instead of just tiredly laying on top of each other as they head to sleep, they were able to have dinner together before deciding to retire for the night.
the water beats down, hot against their skin, both of them only partially inside the spray. wally is sitting down on the stool they got just for this, dick standing behind him. dick lathers up wally's shampoo across his palms as he warns, "keep your eyes closed," before he starts to wash wally's hair. while he's there, he might as well massage wally's scalp in the meanwhile, and so he does. and, without much surprise, wally outright moans, the sound clearly ripped out of him. dick smiles even as he feels wally's head begin to turn before he presses down again, keeping wally's head in place. "don't move."
βit's a nice routine of theirs that's usually comforting, but also, wally is usually in such an impatient hurry that their shower doesn't last very long. he works wally's usual 3-in-1 into his hair, rinses the suds away, and he's already rushing to get to whatever's next.
the one time he's patient enough, that he actually sits still for a change, dick's hands are like magic. " ohhh myyy goddd - " wally groans, and despite trying to keep his them closed, his eyelids flutter when his eyes roll back. he must shudder and squirm in his seat, must try to turn his head too quickly to launch into an embarrassed self-defence of the very telling noise he'd made, because dick immediately stops him in his tracks.
" ...i'm not moving. i didn't even- you're probably imagining stuff. " good save. especially since he continues with, " you don't have to stop, though. that was nice. "
dick knows wally's game, which is why it's absolutely infuriating when the combination of wally's hands and words do cause dick to shiver on wally's lap. he glares into the absolutely smug look on wally's face, hands reaching out to gently push wally's face away from him so he doesn't have to see that smug look. "you are such an ass. do not start something you don't plan to finish."
β" it's a compliment! what am i even starting, huh? " which might have been a good denial of the being an ass allegations, if only wally had said it sincerely. instead, his grin only widens, even as his face is smushed by dick's hand pushing him away. " all i did was say you're really good at this, you're amazing, and you take my breath away. i mean, c'mon, is that such a crime? "
"good boy!" (for dickie g of courseeee, let's make it suggestive let's party KDSNG)
"wal-ly." he can't help but shove wally's shoulder, even as he can feel his ears turn slightly red. (dick cannot believe that his voice broke from just two words of praise, what the fuck.). do not shiver in his lap, do not shiver in his lap, do not. "shut up. do not say that."
β" whaaat, what'd i say? " don't be fooled. wally knows exactly what he said, only puts maybe 30% effort into sounding confused about it, and he doesn't even try to hide the smug, shit-eating grin on his face. he trails his hands up and down dick's flanks ( no doubt trying to coax out that shiver he's clearly holding back ) while his green eyes twinkle with mischief.
" is it because i called you a good boy? hey, i just call it how i see it. you were doing really good. "
sorry i didn't have time to shower --
βwally had been waiting forever, after all; which meant he'd really only gotten to dick's apartment about 3 seconds earlier and still had time to change out of costume before his boyfriend even opened the front door. so when he finally did, he barely had the time to shut it behind him before wally had barrelled into him with an excited hug.
" don't even worry about it, i'm just happy you're home! " one would think that, with the way wally clung to him and peppered his face in kisses, he hadn't seen dick in weeks. at most, it had probably been closer to 16 hours, give or take, but to wally, that may as well have been a lifetime. " y'know babe, you always say that, and you always smell good anyway. "
as a joke ( and to drive the point home ), wally leaned his head against the blue-black fabric of dick's nightwing outfit and inhaled deeply. he expected crisp, clean detergent, the lingering sting of spearmint from dick's shampoo, grapefruit-cedar body wash... well, he got all of that too, but they had since blended into the background. mostly he got sweet-savoury sweat, leather, smoke, the fresh nighttime breeze -- but mostly just the usual dick grayson end-of-day musk.
I brought your favourite thing from the place on the corner. Don't cry. Please don't cry.
β" i'm not even crying. " despite his stubborn assertion, he was getting close to it -- if not from the pain of his broken leg ( which he was trying to will into healing itself as fast as possible ), then simply from dick doting on him like that. " i probably just got dust in my eye or something. "
three pastrami, egg, & cheese sandwiches and a bag of chips ( family size, thank you very much ) definitely made him feel better, but not quite as much as having dick finally join him on the couch. scooting over definitely made him wince, but there was no way wally wasn't going to hug him.
" thanks. and see? i'm still not crying, so don't freak out! "

Drink the tea. Yes, all of it. I'll make more. // dickie g
βwally's disdain is obvious -- his face twisted into grimace that conveys 'bleh' even without him having to vocalize it. " i dunno, man. i'm not really a tea guy. i'd rather have coffee. "
nevermind the fact that the tea is supposed to soothe an illness that coffee would probably only exacerbate. but wally hasn't been sick in years, he simply isn't used to this kind of routine anymore. " i'm fine, dick, really. it's just a cold or something, i'll be over it in, like, a day and a half, tops. "

β Β· π€ Β· β ππππ ππππ ππππ ππ Β·Β·Β· a collection of soup gone cold and blankets shared, the intimacy of being cared for when you are at your worst. genre: romance, hurt and comfort, soft angst, domestic.
You're burning up. Don't argue with me. Get back in bed.
I made soup. It's not great. Eat it anyway.
You should have called me the moment you started feeling like this.
Stop trying to get up. There is nothing on this earth that needs you upright right now.
I found three blankets and a hot water bottle. Pick your combination.
You look terrible. I mean that with so much love.
Let me take your temperature. Stop being difficult about the thermometer.
I cancelled everything. Don't apologize. I wanted to be here.
You fell asleep mid-sentence. I stayed anyway. I hope that's okay.
Drink the tea. Yes, all of it. I'll make more.
I've been checking on you every hour. You keep telling me to go home. I keep not going.
Your voice sounds awful. Rest it. We can talk tomorrow.
I'm not going anywhere. Stop thanking me for staying.
You hate being taken care of. I know. Do it for me anyway.
The fever broke. I don't think you know how relieved I am right now.
Sleep. I'll be right here. I'll wake you up if anything changes.
I brought your favourite thing from the place on the corner. Don't cry. Please don't cry.
You're a terrible patient and somehow I still want to be the one doing this.
I know you think you're being a burden. You are not a burden.
Let me sit with you. I don't need to talk. I just don't want you to be alone.
You tried to make your own tea and you could barely stand up. Sit down. I've got it.
I've seen you strong. This doesn't make you weak. It just makes you human.
You smell like fever and you still somehow look like everything to me.
Lay your head here. Right here. I've got nowhere I need to be.
I brought every movie you've ever mentioned. We have time.
You're mumbling in your sleep. I'm not going to tell you what you said.
I changed the sheets while you were in the shower. Don't make it weird.
You need to eat something real. I know you don't want to. Eat something real.
I've been sitting in this chair for four hours. I'd do it four more.
Stop apologizing for being sick. People get sick. Let me help you.
Your hands are cold. Give them here. I'll warm them up.
I found the medicine in the back of the cabinet. Take it. All of it. Don't negotiate.
You're not inconveniencing me. Taking care of you is exactly where I want to be.
I didn't know you got like this when you were sick. Softer. I like knowing this about you.
You asked for me. Out of everyone, you asked for me. I haven't stopped thinking about that.
The heating pad is on the lowest setting. Tell me if you need it warmer.
I'm not leaving until your temperature is normal. Make your peace with that.
You cried a little when the soup was too hot to eat yet. I pretended not to notice.
I've never seen you let anyone take care of you before. I'm honoured. I mean that.
Your hair is a mess. Can I? Is that okay? Let me just β there.
You keep saying you're fine every time I check and you are so obviously not fine.
This is the third night in a row. I'm not going anywhere. Stop looking at me like that.
You're delirious and still trying to be funny. It's working. Please stop, I'm worried about you.
I learned how to make your mother's recipe. It took three attempts. Don't tell her.
There's nowhere I'd rather be than right here, even like this. Especially like this.
You always take care of everyone else. Just this once, let someone take care of you.
I left the light on in the hall in case you woke up scared. I remember you mentioned that once.
I'm here. I've got you. Just rest. Everything else can wait.
