There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all argument, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance. This principle is, contempt prior to examination.

The Fried Chicken Special
I’ve had a great interest in the roots of urban poverty for a while now. It began with reading William Julius Wilson’s book “The Truly Disadvantaged".
I don’t often talk with people my age about this subject and have wanted to create a documentary project that is creative, compelling and intriguing to my generation.
Urban poverty impacts our lives in ways we don’t often know, and there are incredible presumptions and prejudices that shape how we live in our cities.
Once I began to learn of the roots of urban poverty and the “underclass”, my old ideas began to change.
I’m not sure when I’ll ever get to it, but this is The Fried Chicken Special.

I love these animated gifs... Especially the last one
MemphisType.com
A few years ago I began shooting and posting some fantastic old typography, signage and graffiti from around town.
Here is the re-introduction of MemphisType.com
Check back every few days for the fun of it.
Or... submit your own image to [email protected] to be included on Memphis Type.
It will live on forever....
The sun sets in the hills of Middle Tennessee tonite and paints the sky a beautiful picture. It will never happen the same way again. There is only 1 of these paintings. It can never be duplicated.
December 5th 2012 RIP Dave Brubeck…..
One of my very favorite players of all time.
A style so unique and irreplaceable.
My favorite Dave Brubeck song is Forty Days and this 1966 live recording is amazing.
In Focus: Images of Earth From Above
Yesterday was Earth Day, a time set aside to increase awareness of the natural environment and the impact of our collective actions. In honor of Earth Day, gathered here is a collection of scenes of our home planet from above, from vantage points we don’t see in everyday life. These scenes help show the Earth as a larger system and demonstrate the extent to which human activity has affected it.

Canon EF adapter for the FS100? Hope so..
Ive shot a number of projects on the newer Sony FS100. The first time using it i didn't care for it. Its definitely weird. A little modular box thing.
It doesn't help the ergonomics problem of the smaller HD cameras these days. In fact, its almost more awkward to shoot with in some situations than the DSLRs.
BUT, dang it looks good.
No way around it. To me, its very noticeable. That Super 35 caught my attention the first time i learned about what sony was doing with it at NAB.
And NOW... the thing that might tip it per into worth investing in... a Canon EF mount.
I hope this turns out to be what it claims!

The XPro-1 coming soon
I still haven't shot with the amazing X100, maybe because its 1400 bucks... but i really want to.
This new "next-in-line form Fuji looks even better because of lens options.
This old range finder style just seems fun to shoot with.
But ever since I've upgraded to the 4s, i find myself shoot ALOT more with it just day to day. Im not sure anything can ever beat for fun-factor and convenience.
Lexar's 1st 1000X Cf card
You can never get enough speed when it comes to flash storage. Lexar appears to think the same way, because it's introduced a new series of CF cards that pack a whole load of impressive numbers. Boasting 150MB per second read speeds and tested to capture streams at up to 20MB per second, it's sounding like a portable videographer's dream. The cards will be out in February, arriving in sizes 16GB ($170), 32GB ($300), 64GB ($530) and 128GB ($890). via Engadget
Does this even matter after a certain point? My 5d2's buffer limits the write speed to how fast it can process. So 890 is a little excessive to me.
However, Ive been testing some hacked firmware from (AJ)Magic Lantern which allows to push the bit-rate up to an awesome 77mb/sec. But still the cams buffer bogs that down. Thoughts?
Do you own an Apple TV? Here's 12 things in online video that won't happen next year http://m.techcrunch.com/2011/12/28/12-things-that-wont-happen-in-online-video-in-2012/

There is no such thing as social media...
How will Siri change the TV networks?
Siri (or something similar) is about to completely dismantle the TV experience and industry that we've known for the past 6 decades.

Pretty nice simple piece on where image sensors have been and where theyre going. Check it out.
Invest an hour and watch this keynote by Gary Vaynerchuck, author of Thank you Economy, and Crush it on the current climate of business and the power of social media.
My big takeaway is that we are on the cusp of an era where one-on-one interaction with our audience is the game changer.
Business is moving back to the way our grandparents did it. Where the butcher knows you and your kids and knows how you like your steak. There's an emotional engagement and a long term relationship because of it.
I got tired of renting so I just purchased a 5d mark II and 3 lenses. That plus this video are making the C300 more and more attractive.
Cant wait to get my hands on it at NAB in April.
