I just re-read a tale of water and I love it even more the second time, I love Naerys so so much, that's my girl (love the parallel of her and her great grandmother, they both deserved better) and the fact that it starts with her only bring able to bow her head down, to take everything and not react (or almost because at time she did react but kind of like when water splashes you after hitting it you know) and it ends with her realizing fire may burns things quickly but water plays the long game and i can be just as powerful. sort of sad that we saw little of her realization/her standing for herself/happiness while we saw so much of her pain; aer*on's abuse, her being treated like an object well by almost everyone but specifically in the horse race and lowkey by her father too since he sold her off to ae*on as if she was responsible for his possible improvement (which was just delusional cause it was NOT possible she was just sent like lamb to slaughter/a plaything for a dragon ew) and the humiliation on her wedding day by the lords during the ceremony as she did not suffer enough like hell yeah let's assault the future queen tf are you guys dumb?/the gossiping and "advices" that made her even more insecure, hope the lords got flogged for that btw 🙏

in your mind is that the start of her happiness, her journey of her being loved and standing up for herself (love that she ended being so powerful and made aerion btw, he should have kissed her feet, it really was poetic justice) (oh and I loved the writing on her scars part so symbolic of her being her own person and then deciding she is her's/Baelor's alone, so touching) is the ending of the journey with us, the start of Naerys's? Did ever explore even with just your imagination what would happen after?

Your feedback on A Tale of Water means so much to me! thank you for taking the time to write it <3

I do indeed see the end of the story as the beginning of Naerys’ “new life”, a life where she can finally be happy because she has the tools to defend herself against the challenges that will continue to mark her life (being a woman, Aerion’s existence, her strained relationship with Valarr…).

I tend to write stories where the characters suffer and face complex situations. I’m not very good at—or interested in—writing stories where everything turns out fine. When I finish a story, I feel like I’ve given everything to the character: either they die, or they have the tools to move forward and extricate themselves from the situation they were initially stuck in. I’d like to believe that, in this story, Naerys has grown strong and is living a wonderful life with Baelor :)
