Ah yes, December. The one month of the year where my heating always breaks and the spiders want to put up a Christmas tree.

Well, we’re the only ones able to see the tree Susan. Literally no one else comes over.
My spiders insisted on weaving a little garland in the corners of the living room. They're really getting into the festive spirit this year!
Sort of craving to be mysterious and esoteric, would any Web avatars like to meet and scheme?
Considering moving away from this being a roleplay blog and using it for something else. What? Who knows??

If I were to get back into roleplay, would anyone want to interact with Amelie? I've found myself missing this side of Tumblr,but unsure if it's worth coming back.

You felt a tug— on the bindings of your existence, the strings that tie you to your patron. You were pulled, and pulled, and pulled, until you uncoiled and popped out on the other end of reality. Your ribs hurt, and your chest felt squeezed and pressed like canned meat.
You are here. But where is here? You look around and all you see is endless black sand, blowing in a wind that sounds like screams. No, those are screams. Others are here with you. You do not know who they are.
How will you proceed?
[The darkness and pressure of deep waters feel like a second home to them — more like the first one, the true one, actually. But at once everything changes and becomes hostile. It squeezes and pulls, pulls and squeezes the nonexistent air in their lungs, until all that is left is one single rope — black and sleek with water and mucus, surely — at which Val grasps tightly and holds.
And holds.
And then stops holding and opens their murky eyes to check out the source of endless wailing and screaming that replaces the comforting deafening silence.]
Huh.
[Looking around doesn't answer all the unresolved questions starting to swarm. Val blinks, to no avail, and stands up from the blanket of black sand which became slightly wet with their arrival. It is everywhere: in their hair, short and curled from the moist, stuck between their sickly pale toes, clinging to their still wet diving suit. Not at all presentable. But is there anyone to even care?
Oh. It is indeed someone walking at a distance.]
Hmm. Feels a little like... Norway. Except for the cliffs. And the sea.
[Val's lips tighten with unease. And then they still take their time to clean themselves up. It's a must before saying hello.]
"Anyone there?"
The man calls out, looking around unsteadily for a bit before spotting Val and half-running half-stumbling towards them. The man has ruffled brown hair, with a weird marble-ey scar just visible under his band tee. It's merch for some London Indie Rock Band, and it completes his outfit of somewhat torn jeans and thoroughly loved work shoes to make him look like some form of punk. He stops a bit away from Val, a good metre and a half, before speaking with his weird mix of East Coast American and South British accent.
"This don't look like anywhere near the festival, this your doing by chance? Better ways to contact me, y'know?"
He doesn't sound totally sober, but he's also not shitfaced, like he's about ten minutes away from a hangover.
[Alright, time to communicate. Val readies themselves and their polite and cheerful smile usually reserved for public, but all they do is open their mouth. Huh. So this isn't some remote location, and there are actually people and perhaps some means of transportation nearby? Sweet. They twist their face further to match the description of "surprised" or "overwhelmed" and spread their arms.]
You don't say, love! This doesn't look like any sort of festival! But what do you mean — contacting you?
[Steady, steady. If played nice and easy, this person could give them proper directions. Val takes one step closer, leaving a wet imprint of their feet on the sand, and shakes their head as if still feeling distressed about the whole ordeal. They use it to cover their attempt to have a good sniff of the man's smell: is he actually connected to supernatural... or just a regular babbling drunkard in a middle of nowhere?]
It seems like we both are trying to find our way there and got a little bit lost. Would you mind showing where to go from here?

Aside from the relatively normal scents of sweat, unreasonably good whiskey, and pyrotechnics octane, there are several supernatural scents clinging to him loosely, like he's often around a lot of avatars. The three most notable are the stale carpet smell of the Dull, some fire-like scent far too passionate to be Desolation, and... a strange scent, one that smells of cobwebs and strings like the Web, but far too present and stronger of a scent than even someone like Annabelle has. The man takes a very casual step back in time with Val, stretching slightly.
"Well, normally when I'm scooped up like this someone wants something from me, y'know? Quite frankly, I haven't a clue where we are."
Really, getting plucked up isn't new to Leon, happens often enough from people like Ɛ or Joline chasing doppels. He crouches down, scooping up a handful of the sand.
"Cause like this is volcanic sand, but there ain't a desert on earth that's volcanic like this. The only place off my top is a beach, but well,"
He gestures around at the desert vaguely, tossing his fistful of sand into the wind.
"I don't see no ocean."
Oh? You don't know either, do you.
[This time the disappointment in Val's voice is pretty genuine. Partly, because sometimes not knowing where you are kinda sucks, and partly — because it seems like the lies they are going to spill need to be measured very carefully. The dusty and sweet smell they've just managed to pick up doesn't promise anything good; their attempt at keeping balance between their independent nature and a "sweet innocent and fragile person in danger that needs to be saved" façade could very well be undermined at any time, too.
Well... there also was that one thing Val has always been good at. Not disclosing much about themselves and sticking to strangers like a shadow.]

Could be a volcanic plateau with a lake that had long dried out. Are those even a thing? Are you up to a little walk?
[They don't wait for the man to answer and go ahead, however, ushering him to follow.]
"Could also be a caldera! Might just fry youself!"

"Oh, blimey, neither of us have introduced ourselves, apologies, I'm Leon, Leon Stoker. You'd be..?"
He offers his hand to Val, still jogging slightly to keep pace up the dune. Gods he's forgetful on this stuff. Well, maybe more cautious, the fairfolk do seem to want him often, but this person seems more Vast-y than Web.
Like most dunes, it keeps on trying to run away under them, so it does take a bit to crest it.
[Yeah, might be a caldera as well. Or a much simpler option for someone like them: someone else's domain, reeking heavily of Desolation vibes. After all, ashen black sand and all those screams filling the air produce quite a distinctive image together.
Of course, Val says none of that out loud, but instead laughs lightly and extends their hand to their companion in response.]
Leon? Like... what was that... Something something Umbrella Corporation? Better not. He tends to find himself in dire situations of any sort too often. Valencia. And yes - like the city.
[They smile. The skin on their palm is cold and moist, however, it doesn't seem to be sweaty at all. At once their fingers curl inwards, and Val boldly uses Leon's hand for leverage to climb the dune faster — and freeze in surprise.]
Oh my— it's quite crowded here.
Leon yelps slightly at almost being thrown down the dune, scampering up to catch up with Val.
"Well met, Valencia. You're not the first to quip that, in fact I've made the same joke on hal- Oh Blimey."
Leon looks over the small crowd, trying to see if he recognizes anyone, whether that be personally-knows-them or saw-them-at-the-festival. Upon not recognizing anyone, he flashes a smile and claps his hands together.
"Allright, any of y'all know where we are? Or, better, why we're here?"

[Seeing a familiar face... somehow manages to help even if it doesn't really explain anything and even makes things more complicated. A tiny spark appears in Val's murky eyes for a few seconds, though, all they do is grasp Amelie's shoulder in agitation and then immediately let go.]
Hey! And what are you doing here? Oh, wait— Sorry, love, didn't mean to push you like that.
[Too many people, too much to do. They turn back to Leon and help him a little to keep steady at the top of the dune.]
That's Leon. We've just met. And... yeah, "Val" is better then "Valencia". Much shorter.
[They nod. Now it's time to listen. Maybe, also play dumb for a little while longer; it's very convenient for finding out what everyone else is up to. Their lips curl into an unsure, coy smile.]
"Serve"? Like... the Queen of England? Hah.
Irene chuckles awkwardly from the back. “So how many do we need now? We have a corruption avatar.” She points at herself. “Vast. Desolation. Spiral. Lonely. Web” she list them out, pointing at each of them. “ and uhhh….” She looks at the newcomers.

Leon takes a few steps forward, holding his hands up slightly.
"Well, I don't serve anything, other than debatably cunt,"

"I know you at least used to serve Eye Spiral Web, but I think you're primarily Web now?"
He half-states half-asks, before turning to point at Val.
"And I'm pretty sure you're either Vast or Buried, based on your whole deep-sea exploration chic."
He gestures vaguely at Val as he speaks before spinning around to address the group.
"So at best we have two more for this little dungeon escape and at worst we're S-O-L."
He says with a rather forced grin. He's technically lying, noeL is tucked into his drop pocket, but they really don't know what she serves and she's too stabby to answer questions.
"I might have a separate out, but that all depends on if a certain bird-brained friend of mine realizes the ship's gone down or I get cell signal."
He pulls out a flip phone, starting to walk off a short distance waving it around.

[The air now reeks of strawberry and grape chewing gum so strongly they're almost willing to pull their teeth out. The Deceiver is rather insistent, giving Val all this attention... however, they're not the first avatar of the Spiral they meet, and certainly not the last. Val smiles politely and seizes the opportunity Leon unknowingly gave them, raising their hands in mock surrender.]
Oh, come on now, this was just a mere joke. You got us. We're of the Titan's kin. Just not used to shouting about it at every corner.

Amelie makes a pitiful attempt to lie, feeling uncomfortable with being so... Exposed. The dunes felt endless and desolate,there were people it didn't know - too many people for faer liking, actually.

Fae squinted at Leon, trying to turn the conversation away from itself. But their attention was caught by Val conversating with someone else.
"I suppose it's fairly logical to attempt to get different avatars together,but how can we know who is who?"

[Considering Amelie decided not to call them out on their little deceit — or at least not yet, or not in public — Val felt like their friend was willing to back them up on occasion and thanked fae silently with a nod. Adding two other names being mentioned in connection to Leon results in an obvious conclusion: everyone here has their fair share of secrets. Are they really the weird one for refusing to open up to strangers so easily?]

it felt safer, sticking with the crowd—the welcome hum of chaos it could get lost in, and the steadying hand of the leech girl. but spectre was nothing if not one to pull away from what was probably the better path. besides, it needed a break.
"have fun. don't die. unless it gets you closer to finding a terminus avatar, i guess." it detached a leech from its 'skin'—what was the leech even feeding on, water vapor?—and placed it in tilly's hand.
with a quiet hiss of foggy form meeting burning sand, it sat on the floor and prepared to watch the others leave.

Amelie stayed as well,not wanting to get lost. It was scared to sit down, so fae kept pacing around, unsure what to do with itself.
"I highly doubt they will have luck finding anyone else,but I am no fortune teller!"
It sighed, looking at the horizon, being grateful that at least it was wearing comfortable clothing. Small fortunes and such.
"I am surprised you're still intact with how hot the sun is."
They mumbled, observing the sitting fog-shape-creature-thing.
"oh, who knows. we did find you lot rather quickly." spectre sprawled back on the sand, arms limply spread and and blurry face tilted back up towards the hazy sky. "maybe they have a chance."
maybe this was just spectre's life now. chatting with random avatars in a horrible great void until something worse came along and put them out of their misery. at least it was an (albeit restless) web avatar that had chosen to stick around, and not the desolation one—spectre feared she would begin burning people when hope began to run low.
"hah. i'm managing. i'm not all fog, you know. i think."
"I'd say finding a Web avatar such as me isn't all that difficult. Some of us have... A certain pull,no matter what, apparently."
They tilted its head at the sky as well, trying to find something interesting in it. How long has it been since fae came here? Hours? Minutes? The lack of... Well, anything,drove it crazy.
"..So you're saying you actually have what,a skeleton? How does a thing like you function??"
Amelie says, suddenly very interested in their lonely companion.

The rest of the week after the accident went surprisingly mundane,and Amelie was starting to relax. It was a fairly nice weather (though what did they know about nice weather in America- it lived in a place where everything was gloomy 90% of the time.) so they decided to finally explore the area.
Willard was hesitant,but excited to accompany Amelie,so after making sure the cat is comfortable and secure,the two of them set out for a walk.
The weather was nice, only a few clouds were rolling in, but not enough for them to need to worry about any rain. People walking by don’t bother it, but a baby in a stroller watches Willard, pointing with their hand as they babble. Fortunately, though, the stroller is pushed past in time once the baby lets out a shrill laugh, and it hears their parent gently talking to them.
There’s plenty for Amelie to do today, if they want to explore the town with Willard, or they could go back to the library. Which would be really fun and calming, I’m sure.
They nod, fidgeting slightly. They really, really don't know what's waiting for it.
"... Should I wait for you here,or go together?.."
Amelie really, really does not want to go there alone.
Sirius notices how hesitant they are, and gives them a patient smile. “You can come with me if you want. I’ve never been in the basement here, so I wouldn’t know where to look, anyway.”
They nod,taking a deep breath,and steadying themselves.
"Alright,follow me please."
It walks in first, glancing back to make sure Sirius is still there , from time to time.
She’s following behind, looking to the floor so she can see where she’s stepping. The basement is quite cold, and dark, but fortunately there’s a light switch beside the stairs. When flipped on, the lights flicker and hum, illuminating the dingy room.
Fortunately, the basement isn’t very large, but there are many shelves and containers standing around with old, distressed books either on them or in them. In the very back is a boiler, it’s rusted, and makes a quiet hiss every few minutes.
The bag with the haunted book is lying right where Amelie left it. This will probably be easy.
Amelie walks in carefully, frowning at the smell of the damp basement. It's like it increased since the last time it went in there.
Looking back to check if Sirius is still there,it makes their way to the bag, trying faer best not to breathe. It picks it up, covering faer nose with its sleeve. It smelled so... Wet.

He half-states half-asks, before turning to point at Val.
"And I'm pretty sure you're either Vast or Buried, based on your whole deep-sea exploration chic."
He gestures vaguely at Val as he speaks before spinning around to address the group.
"So at best we have two more for this little dungeon escape and at worst we're S-O-L."
He says with a rather forced grin. He's technically lying, noeL is tucked into his drop pocket, but they really don't know what she serves and she's too stabby to answer questions.
"I might have a separate out, but that all depends on if a certain bird-brained friend of mine realizes the ship's gone down or I get cell signal."
He pulls out a flip phone, starting to walk off a short distance waving it around.

You felt a tug— on the bindings of your existence, the strings that tie you to your patron. You were pulled, and pulled, and pulled, until you uncoiled and popped out on the other end of reality. Your ribs hurt, and your chest felt squeezed and pressed like canned meat.
You are here. But where is here? You look around and all you see is endless black sand, blowing in a wind that sounds like screams. No, those are screams. Others are here with you. You do not know who they are.
How will you proceed?
[The darkness and pressure of deep waters feel like a second home to them — more like the first one, the true one, actually. But at once everything changes and becomes hostile. It squeezes and pulls, pulls and squeezes the nonexistent air in their lungs, until all that is left is one single rope — black and sleek with water and mucus, surely — at which Val grasps tightly and holds.
And holds.
And then stops holding and opens their murky eyes to check out the source of endless wailing and screaming that replaces the comforting deafening silence.]

[Looking around doesn't answer all the unresolved questions starting to swarm. Val blinks, to no avail, and stands up from the blanket of black sand which became slightly wet with their arrival. It is everywhere: in their hair, short and curled from the moist, stuck between their sickly pale toes, clinging to their still wet diving suit. Not at all presentable. But is there anyone to even care?
Oh. It is indeed someone walking at a distance.]
Hmm. Feels a little like... Norway. Except for the cliffs. And the sea.
[Val's lips tighten with unease. And then they still take their time to clean themselves up. It's a must before saying hello.]

The man calls out, looking around unsteadily for a bit before spotting Val and half-running half-stumbling towards them. The man has ruffled brown hair, with a weird marble-ey scar just visible under his band tee. It's merch for some London Indie Rock Band, and it completes his outfit of somewhat torn jeans and thoroughly loved work shoes to make him look like some form of punk. He stops a bit away from Val, a good metre and a half, before speaking with his weird mix of East Coast American and South British accent.
"This don't look like anywhere near the festival, this your doing by chance? Better ways to contact me, y'know?"
He doesn't sound totally sober, but he's also not shitfaced, like he's about ten minutes away from a hangover.
[Alright, time to communicate. Val readies themselves and their polite and cheerful smile usually reserved for public, but all they do is open their mouth. Huh. So this isn't some remote location, and there are actually people and perhaps some means of transportation nearby? Sweet. They twist their face further to match the description of "surprised" or "overwhelmed" and spread their arms.]
You don't say, love! This doesn't look like any sort of festival! But what do you mean — contacting you?
[Steady, steady. If played nice and easy, this person could give them proper directions. Val takes one step closer, leaving a wet imprint of their feet on the sand, and shakes their head as if still feeling distressed about the whole ordeal. They use it to cover their attempt to have a good sniff of the man's smell: is he actually connected to supernatural... or just a regular babbling drunkard in a middle of nowhere?]
It seems like we both are trying to find our way there and got a little bit lost. Would you mind showing where to go from here?

Aside from the relatively normal scents of sweat, unreasonably good whiskey, and pyrotechnics octane, there are several supernatural scents clinging to him loosely, like he's often around a lot of avatars. The three most notable are the stale carpet smell of the Dull, some fire-like scent far too passionate to be Desolation, and... a strange scent, one that smells of cobwebs and strings like the Web, but far too present and stronger of a scent than even someone like Annabelle has. The man takes a very casual step back in time with Val, stretching slightly.
"Well, normally when I'm scooped up like this someone wants something from me, y'know? Quite frankly, I haven't a clue where we are."
Really, getting plucked up isn't new to Leon, happens often enough from people like Ɛ or Joline chasing doppels. He crouches down, scooping up a handful of the sand.
"Cause like this is volcanic sand, but there ain't a desert on earth that's volcanic like this. The only place off my top is a beach, but well,"
He gestures around at the desert vaguely, tossing his fistful of sand into the wind.
"I don't see no ocean."

[This time the disappointment in Val's voice is pretty genuine. Partly, because sometimes not knowing where you are kinda sucks, and partly — because it seems like the lies they are going to spill need to be measured very carefully. The dusty and sweet smell they've just managed to pick up doesn't promise anything good; their attempt at keeping balance between their independent nature and a "sweet innocent and fragile person in danger that needs to be saved" façade could very well be undermined at any time, too.
Well... there also was that one thing Val has always been good at. Not disclosing much about themselves and sticking to strangers like a shadow.]

"Could also be a caldera! Might just fry youself!"

He offers his hand to Val, still jogging slightly to keep pace up the dune. Gods he's forgetful on this stuff. Well, maybe more cautious, the fairfolk do seem to want him often, but this person seems more Vast-y than Web.
Like most dunes, it keeps on trying to run away under them, so it does take a bit to crest it.
[Yeah, might be a caldera as well. Or a much simpler option for someone like them: someone else's domain, reeking heavily of Desolation vibes. After all, ashen black sand and all those screams filling the air produce quite a distinctive image together.
Of course, Val says none of that out loud, but instead laughs lightly and extends their hand to their companion in response.]

He offers his hand to Val, still jogging slightly to keep pace up the dune. Gods he's forgetful on this stuff. Well, maybe more cautious, the fairfolk do seem to want him often, but this person seems more Vast-y than Web.
Like most dunes, it keeps on trying to run away under them, so it does take a bit to crest it.
[Yeah, might be a caldera as well. Or a much simpler option for someone like them: someone else's domain, reeking heavily of Desolation vibes. After all, ashen black sand and all those screams filling the air produce quite a distinctive image together.
Of course, Val says none of that out loud, but instead laughs lightly and extends their hand to their companion in response.]
Leon? Like... what was that... Something something Umbrella Corporation? Better not. He tends to find himself in dire situations of any sort too often. Valencia. And yes - like the city.
[They smile. The skin on their palm is cold and moist, however, it doesn't seem to be sweaty at all. At once their fingers curl inwards, and Val boldly uses Leon's hand for leverage to climb the dune faster — and freeze in surprise.]
Oh my— it's quite crowded here.
Leon yelps slightly at almost being thrown down the dune, scampering up to catch up with Val.
"Well met, Valencia. You're not the first to quip that, in fact I've made the same joke on hal- Oh Blimey."
Leon looks over the small crowd, trying to see if he recognizes anyone, whether that be personally-knows-them or saw-them-at-the-festival. Upon not recognizing anyone, he flashes a smile and claps his hands together.
"Allright, any of y'all know where we are? Or, better, why we're here?"

[Seeing a familiar face... somehow manages to help even if it doesn't really explain anything and even makes things more complicated. A tiny spark appears in Val's murky eyes for a few seconds, though, all they do is grasp Amelie's shoulder in agitation and then immediately let go.]
Hey! And what are you doing here? Oh, wait— Sorry, love, didn't mean to push you like that.
[Too many people, too much to do. They turn back to Leon and help him a little to keep steady at the top of the dune.]
That's Leon. We've just met. And... yeah, "Val" is better then "Valencia". Much shorter.
[They nod. Now it's time to listen. Maybe, also play dumb for a little while longer; it's very convenient for finding out what everyone else is up to. Their lips curl into an unsure, coy smile.]
"Serve"? Like... the Queen of England? Hah.
Irene chuckles awkwardly from the back. “So how many do we need now? We have a corruption avatar.” She points at herself. “Vast. Desolation. Spiral. Lonely. Web” she list them out, pointing at each of them. “ and uhhh….” She looks at the newcomers.

Leon takes a few steps forward, holding his hands up slightly.
"Well, I don't serve anything, other than debatably cunt,"
He uses his full hand to point at Amelie.
"I know you at least used to serve Eye Spiral Web, but I think you're primarily Web now?"
He half-states half-asks, before turning to point at Val.
"And I'm pretty sure you're either Vast or Buried, based on your whole deep-sea exploration chic."
He gestures vaguely at Val as he speaks before spinning around to address the group.
"So at best we have two more for this little dungeon escape and at worst we're S-O-L."
He says with a rather forced grin. He's technically lying, noeL is tucked into his drop pocket, but they really don't know what she serves and she's too stabby to answer questions.
"I might have a separate out, but that all depends on if a certain bird-brained friend of mine realizes the ship's gone down or I get cell signal."
He pulls out a flip phone, starting to walk off a short distance waving it around.

The Deceiver is rather insistent, giving Val all this attention... however, they're not the first avatar of the Spiral they meet, and certainly not the last. Val smiles politely and seizes the opportunity Leon unknowingly gave them, raising their hands in mock surrender.]

We take it, nobody has any idea how or why we were brought here? Why are you bothering yourself with trying to find representatives for each of the 14, then? Has some Eye know-it-all spilled a priceless prophecy?

Amelie makes a pitiful attempt to lie, feeling uncomfortable with being so... Exposed. The dunes felt endless and desolate,there were people it didn't know - too many people for faer liking, actually.
"Also, you're not William,nor Maxwell,which one are you?"
Fae squinted at Leon, trying to turn the conversation away from itself. But their attention was caught by Val conversating with someone else.
"I suppose it's fairly logical to attempt to get different avatars together,but how can we know who is who?"
Like Val,who was lying about them being Vast.
