All in good time
Our new promotion invites you to grab a hot beverage and be entertained by this charming photo book that takes you on a marvellous trip down memory lane…
On 16 pages, 99 recycled images from yesteryear have been reproduced spectacularly – and just a tad nostalgically – to announce (and celebrate) Monza Recycled’s new status as a stock made from 99% recycled fibre that is certified FSC®.
“This book treats you to retro travel pics and vintage-esque images of cars, fashion, artwork, books, property and corporate environments – representing the applications Monza Recycled is often used for,” comments Kerri Turner, Marketing Co-ordinator. “When you hold this book in your hands and really appreciate the images, you’d never know that this stock boasts an incredible 99% recycled content.”
A terrific tool for specifiers and printers, this one-stop piece acts as a convenient reference tool for printed and creative collateral on Monza Recycled.
“We’ve always been a fan of Monza Recycled,” says Mark Bentley from Amanda Roach Design, the creatives behind this delightful piece. “It’s our go-to stock for annual reports and a lot of other corporate communications. It’s a reliable sheet and it prints well. The surface is good. Now that it’s 99% recycled, it has even more of an edge in terms of its environmental credentials.”
The book features a range of grammages including the newly added 400gsm, and a variety of printing techniques.
“Adams Print are craftsmen, and they truly embraced the whole project,” explains Mark. “Drip off matt / gloss varnishes, gloss black foil stamps, satin and gloss aqueous varnishes have all been used to demonstrate Monza Recycled’s fantastic features.”
Delineating the sections are tipping sheets, which in some instances have full solid colours printed to represent the main-stay colour for the specific application.
“Monza Recycled is thought of as one of those true trustworthy papers,” concludes Kerri. “Being 99% recycled and one of the first papers in Australia to achieve FSC® certification has only added to that, as this book demonstrates. It really is a beautiful piece.”
With images that range from being hilarious to whimsical, attractive to unusual, interesting to inspiring, it’s also a bit of fun. Take your time to enjoy it.
Top: The beautiful ’Emilia’ wine label on Manter Jade Raster Ultra.
Spicers Wine and Gourmet Companion
This breathtaking guide is the perfect accompaniment for those looking for a specialty self-adhesive stock. Providing the most relevant information on a vast variety of papers, the range incorporates commodity options right through to the competitively priced and the premium selection. There are coated, uncoated, synthetic and metallic stocks, as well as those pre-treated for digital printing. Creatives and printers with an interest in or a passion for food and beverage labels are encouraged to contact their local sales representative for a copy.
Celebrating women, with wine
The shimmering Manter Jade Raster Ultra was the perfect label choice for the first in the release of a sparkling wine range dedicated to the women of the D’Angelo family.
The D’Angelo family of winemakers have lived in the Swan Valley, Western Australia, for three generations, but before approaching Studio Lost and Found had only sold their wine to close relatives and friends.
“We started working with Torrent Wines in 2014, developing a brand strategy that would honour their Italian heritage and communicate their passion for family, food, and wine,” says Rebecca McKeating, Studio Director of Perth’s Studio Lost and Found. “With the decision to sell direct to the public, they also required assistance with wine labels for retail.”
Torrent Wines particularly wanted a set of labels that would pay homage to the women in the D’Angelo family. The ‘Emilia’ is the first release, dedicated to the matriarch of the family, and the label had to be perfect.
But first came the practicalities.
“There is a lot to consider when choosing an adhesive label stock for a wine project. Does the stock need to perform well in the fridge or an ice bucket; does it have the right luxury cues to reflect the price point of the product; does the stock work with the production budget?” Rebecca explains. “In the end it is about achieving the optimum balance between brand communication and cost. Manter Jade Raster Ultra was perfect for this project as it performs well on the bottling line and in ice buckets, but also has a lustre and texture that adds to the luxury cues for this premium product.”
Simply put, it is a beautiful stock.
“The client got quite emotional when they saw the concept for the first time. Family is very important to them and this tribute to the women in the family really hit a chord. They are so happy with how it turned out, and look forward to completing the range when the new wines are ready to bottle,” adds Rebecca.
The Manter Jade Raster Ultra label was printed conventional offset in 3x Pantone colours with a matt gold foil, and, as the pictures attest, is a truly moving and stunning ‘omaggio’.

Show stoppers
When you have a 6 x 9 stand, an immense Italian dual gantry cutting table, two renowned printing machines, five LED screens and, to top it all off, a circular LED screen suspended from the ceiling, you’re bound to make an impact.
And so Spicers did, at the recent Visual Impact show in Sydney.
So much so that even print media took notice of the people flocking to the B8 stand, with Spicers team members being interviewed accordingly.
‘We were well and truly noticed and the stand looked fantastic. A lot of work went into putting it all together behind the scenes, but it all paid off and we were very happy with the result,’ comments Harry Pagoulatos, Marketing and Business Development Manager.
Being a smaller show, the theme was simple and effective – Hardware & Application Solutions, brought to you by Spicers, and we let our products speak for themselves.
“One of the ‘highlights’ was definitely the LED screen above the stand. It was an exercise in organisation to have it rigged up there, but it certainly drew attention to what we now have on offer,” adds Harry.
While the focus was on our hardware, our consumables were also present, with our LG vinyl range, our new printable floor vinyl – Fotoboden, Komaprint PVC, Corflute and Ace Screenboard impressing everyone. Our superstar measuring app, Spike – which had been the focus of Visual Impact Brisbane, was also back for good measure.
Like a great recipe, our mix of hardware and consumables were to the taste of the interested crowd, and sales and leads were fantastic.
“We had outstanding leads and sales for both hardware and consumables, with the Spicers team and all that the Spicers brand stands for delivering excellent results yet again,” said Jason Hay, National Sales Manager – Hardware. “Some of the sales from the show so far include an Elitron SD+, a JFX200, a CFL cutter and a CJV300, not to mention all the consumables.”
“We’re now looking forward to PacPrint Melbourne in May 2017, it is shaping up to be a huge show!” adds Jason.
Time will tell just how many screens will be suspended from the roof at that one…

An impressive entrance, Signarama Boronia have used Photo-Tex OPA to cover their office interior.

The Mimaki JFX200-2513.
Photo Fabulous
Signarama Boronia recently updated their interior space AND their printers, and we were privileged to have a bit to do with it.
Tired of working in a plain white office environment, Signarama in Boronia, Victoria decided to refresh their walls, but not before they updated their printing hardware.
Owned and run by Guy and Michelle Moorhouse, the well-established sign business not far from the foot of Victoria’s beautiful Dandenong Ranges recently purchased two Mimaki’s from us – a JV400-160LX and a JFX200-2513.
“We needed to update our equipment and technology to cater to growing demand, and did a lot of research,” comments Guy, who bought the business in 2012. “After a demo on the Mimaki’s from Spicers, we were sold!”
Producing a lot of Corflute, PVC and Aluminium Composite Panel signs, both a roll to roll and a flatbed were the best option for the company.
“We had a great experience with the installation of the machines. There was very little downtime. They were up and running within a day and with the latex machine we can now produce the sign on the same day we install it,” says Guy. “And the flatbed is fantastic – we no longer need to outsource our bulk Corflute, PVC or Foamboard work, which is obviously great for us. In fact, with the Mimaki JFX200 Flatbed, we can now print directly to a wide variety of rigid materials. Our capabilities have increased dramatically with these two machines.”
Adding to the machine’s workload was the updating of the team’s print room and reception area.
“Our in-house Graphic Designer created a vibrant design that was both professional and eye-catching,” said Guy. “Spicers gave us the idea to use Photo-Tex OPA, a self-adhesive fabric, and our production manager had no problem installing it himself. It’s also easy to remove, so we can update it every couple of years without the hassle you would have with changing wallpaper. In fact, it worked so well, we’re going to use Photo-Tex OPA on our feature wall at home now!”

Mimaki JV400
Lower ink curing temperatures give this machine the ability to print on a vast array of media including non-coated. Efficient and economical, this printer gives you the high quality, glossy prints you’re after.
Photo-Tex OPA
An easy to install and repositionable polyester fabric, this product has rich ink production and is ideal for home, office, point-of-sale or any non-porous surface. With no messy glues, it removes easily without residue and has no show-through.

Dynamic DI-NOC™
Imagine a substance that gives your walls the warmth of timber, without the hassle of wood. A product that offers the pure, smooth look of stone or concrete, but it’s not heavy and cumbersome. Perhaps you desire a silky, fabric feature, but silk itself is just not practical? 3M’s DI-NOC™ from Spicers is an architectural finish that can do all these things, and plenty more. With over 500 patterns in more than 20 families such as metals, fabrics, stone, lacquers, wood, carbon, and embossed finishes, this is one ‘DI-namic’ self-adhesive product range.
Remains to be seen
Now here’s something that you see every day – perhaps without even realising it. As the name implies, dtec™ banner is used for indoor and outdoor promotional banners and signage, but it’s also popularly used for those huge advertising billboards that you see on the freeway, and in pull-up retractable banners for trade-shows, promotions, and corporate functions. dtec™ banner mesh is another very visible product when you’re out and about. A mesh type banner that is used for fence covering and advertising at construction sites and events, it’s also often seen wrapped around scaffolding on a building. High strength and long lasting at a great price and giving you a good print, it’s that ubiquitous product that you possibly just didn’t know the name for.
A ray of sunshine
Easily one of our most beautiful Digital promotions, Neenah Environment® offers up a rich palette of natural hues for your printing pleasure. We love the mustard tones of sweet Honeycomb, the sand-esque colours of Desert Storm, the ashen stock Weathered that looks sombrely sublime with hits of white and black. We adore the coolness of Stone and the handsome dark grey Wrought Iron. We admire polished Concrete and the surprising brightness of Grocer Kraft, which looks incredible printed green on four hits of white and illustrates endless possibilities for this hardy paper. Finding the beauty in the everyday truly is second nature to this paper.
