Today we're talking about the sweet spice.That's right; its what make's apple pie warm, chai spicy and cider's best friend: Cinnamon!

Did you know there are several different kinds?

"True" cinnamon comes from the inner bark of the tree Cinnamomum verum. However, there are several different varieties of the cinnamon tree; each giving a unique yet sweet flavor to one of our favorite spices. The four oldest kinds of cinnamon known to date originate from Northern India, Sri Lanka (which happens to be where our cinnamon is from!), Arabia/Ethiopia and China.

In our stores, we carry "true" Sri Lanka cinnamon and Saigon cinnamon! Saigon cinnamon, a close relative of the "true" cinnamon tree, comes from the central Highlands of Vietnam, and is know for its sweeter, more aromatic nature (perfect with baked apples and other desserts!)

Hey again, fellow tea lovers! Today we're gonna be talking about of  our favorite and more exotic of teas: Dragon Pearls.

Dragon Pearls originate as far back as the Song Dynasty of China.They are a mixture Chinese green tea from Northern China along with the petals of Jasmine blossoms. The tea is then turned into little spheres or "pearled" to give them a greater flavor and aroma. Traditionally, they are used to greet guests into the home.

Hey food and tea lovers! Today we're gonna be blogging about one of our favorite ethnic spice mixes; Za'Atar!

Za'Atar is a traditional Middle Eastern/ Moroccan spice mixture consisting of sesame seeds, sumac, oregano and thyme. It is believed that consuming Za'Atar makes the mind alert and the body strong (and it's often encouraged to have kids eat it before big tests).There are different variations and uses based on regions and family recipes; ours is a basic version that can be used in many different ways.

You can soften it with olive oil to create a tasty spread on pita; or on a soft dough to bake it into bread. Try it also mixed with hummus; or on your chicken, fish or any other white meat.
