There are infinite landscapes in Banff & Jasper NPs that leave you constantly spinning around to try and take it all in. The panorama function on phones, and their damn impressive photo quality nowadays gives you a super hi-res fisheye lens in your pocket at all times. All shot on my googly phone.
Technically solstice was yesterday, but who cares. Here's to the extra few minutes of sunlight we get, and as a bonus get even closer to fall.

Bridges of Sacramento County.
Winding along the levees and over the bridges of the delta is always an interested way to get between Sacramento and the bay area. A different (below sea-level) world out there.

One of the most amazing things when driving through the central valley of California is how flat is it. Some would complain. But rise up, and you have a whole new perspective...of how it is (laser-leveled rice paddies), how it was (one ginormous seasonal wetland), and how it could be (something inbetwixt???).
Happy New Years and here’s to 2017 #makeriversandwetlandsgreatagain
A massive flock of white pelicans, along with thousands of other birds, enjoyed flooded rice paddies in the central valley today.
