Eddie stood still, observing the young woman in front of him--young…kid? She seemed young, and tilted his head a little back, unsure what she was talking about at first. Not that he wanted to assume but he couldn't really put himself into a position of asking more questions than the ones he already had asked. Venom had said he shouldn't freak out, not that much, and Eddie tried to remind himself he should keep his head in the game but everything had happened so fast he was still incredibly confused.

"SHE'S TALKING TO US, EDDIE."

"I guess she is, uh---you're not…scared? I mean, that's a relief but that also would be a first."

"Don't mean to be rude, kid, but we could really use some information here."

"Right, another time then." Gwen shifted her tone. "I don't know what universe you're from, Eddie-" The way she stated his name was spoken as if she had met him before. "-but this universe is categorized as Earth-65. Knowing my name doesn't matter, we'll send you back soon." She answered his question. "I also don't know how you entered this dimension. Last I checked, there should've been safety measures to prevent unwarranted travel of non-spider persons." Her voice quickly turned authoritative, gentle but blunt. An interrogation trick her father taught her. "So- what's made you so special? That you were able to slip through the cracks?" Gwen asked. Ignoring the fact her suit continued to purr.

A scoff exhaled out of her mouth at the exclamation. "'The Lethal Protectors'?" Her brow raised with skepticism, a smile on her face as if he told a joke. "That's a new one." Gwen chuckled.

Shiori watched in jaw-dropping awe at the shift of Gwen’s outfit into a suit, hair pinned back so perfectly, it looked like she’d spend a couple hundred dollars at a hairdresser’s.

Shiori looked down at herself in her mishmash of random clothes she stole from a store a few months ago. She had no such means of making herself look nicer.

“Well, now you’re just making me look like shit by comparison.” Lips pursed, she tilted her head to one side though she maintained her grip. Despite the lack of self-confidence twisting at her insides, she wasn’t going to back down or hide. If she was going to look stupid, she’d see it through to the end.

“At least let me lead so I can make a good impression?”

"Sure thing," Gwen giggled. "You're lucky actually." She chimed, "I actually look like shit for everybody else." Her smile was warm, keeping her tone light to relax her dance partner.

"Since you're leading," Gwen continued. "Hand here," she placed Shiori's hand on her shoulder, "and here." Taking her other hand near her hip. "If you really want the prom experience, I can call my dad to shout 'arms length apart!' every five minutes." Jesting as she waited for her dance partner to take point.

Kaine swung along the buildings, cellphone tucked firmly under his mask against his ear to keep it from flying off between swings. he knew this wasn't going to be easy, it never was when dealing with Miles Warren, but he wasn't about to give Gwen the cold shoulder. if anything, it gave him a goal to channel his anger into, and the old scars from Warren's multiple betrayals and manipulations still felt raw.

he grunts at the sarcasm, agreeing that the question was stupid but he said it genuine concern so he shouldn't get any snark. he didn't say any of this, but he was pouting a little under the mask. he listened intently to Gwen as she spoke, gathering the necessary information before speaking again,

" Sounds about right for Warren. " he said, trying very hard not to remember the last Gwen clone he'd left to die. she was always a constant when it came to memories of his supposed 'father', but he had to force himself to remember he was talking to the real Gwen. or a version of her, at least. he shook the memory out of his mind during one particularly quick swing, before continuing,

" Look, this isn't your fault. You did the best you could, but this guy's a snake, he's slippery. It was only a matter of time before this happened, but you shouldn't beat yourself up about it. " he said as he turned a corner towards the park, taking a few more swings before landing and just jogging the rest of the way.

Once within speaking distance he pulls the phone from his mask, hangs up, and stores it in his waistband. unfortunately for him, he lacked pockets so this would have to suffice. he looks around for a moment before speaking,

" I'm glad you reached out. I'll help you get the bastard out and back where he belongs. " he says with a nod in her direction. or he could finally put the man six feet under... whichever came first.

Her fingers rubbed against her forehead as Kaine spoke. Comforting words, sadly they did little to quell her guilt. Her universe was dangerous enough without one of Peter's goons slipping through the fabric. And out of all of them, Miles Warren was the one to sneak through. Gutter trash obsessed with (Earth-616) Gwen Stacy. And now, she inadvertently gave him another one to stalk.

"Yeah well, I still should've know better. Considering the past, maybe it was insensitive of me to think I could live half my life here undetected." She muttered over the phone, brushing a loose blonde lock of hair behind her ear. The motion helped avert her gaze upward to notice Kaine's approaching figure. A light "ah" left her mouth and soon hung up the phone. Raising herself up from her seat to meet him halfway. The closer she got, the smaller and quicker her steps became. The last step was a hop up to throw her arms around Kaine's shoulders. Her toes struggling to touch the ground. She couldn't remember if he was touch-averse, Gwen'll have to apologize later, but at this moment, she really needed to hug someone. Steal the body heat of another to calm her down.

"Thanks Kaine, I mean it." Gwen said softly. She didn't try to hide her face, she knew Warren wasn't here. Scumbag was still hiding somewhere in the shadows of Earth-65. Waiting…

Her feet planted firmly on the ground once she slipped off the Scarlet Spider's broad shoulders. Clearing her throat and pushing the fringe off her forehead. "Right, so- " She muttered again. "I'll follow you," Gwen said lastly. Snagging her backpack off its resting place and slung it over her shoulders and tightening the straps with a yank.
